YES! I figured it out! A few weeks ago I posted a question SM
about Dictaphone EXSpeech, my wave volume on my pc's master volume controls kept turning down automatically after each VR job and I couldn't figure out why. Well, after much research, having both the tech people at the hospital where I work and the Dictaphone/Nuance tech support people telling they had never heard of that problem, I figured it out.
And since someone on here had told me it was a quirk with Dictaphone, I wanted to share because I thought it my help her out too. When you are in a document in Word Client Correction Editor, you hit F2 and that is your volume control, make sure you turn it all the way up, click okay and bingo it's fixed. Apparently, that particular volume setting in Word Client is connected to the master wave volume control on your PC. If it it is at the lowest setting, then your master volume control will reset after each job. If it is turned all the way up, that is your master volume control will stay.
Excuse my excitement, but it was driving me nuts having to manually turn up my volume with each job. As many MTs know, one little annoyance can wreck a whole day!
sorry, i didn't read your post before I posted mine...says the same thing, pretty much! :) nm

Typing ages
I've seen several different styles on this: Do I type 32-year-old male or 32 year old male. Seems dumb to put all those hypens in the sentence but I've seen it done both ways. How about 11-pound weight loss instead of 11 pound weight loss? I've always typed these without hypens but then did not use BOS, just what the docs wanted. Is there a right or wrong???
Ah-yes Beatles appeal to all ages
There is something in the Beatles' repetoire for everyone. The early Beatles are great listening for little ones. When my kids were babies, they LOVED the early Beatles songs. You can't go wrong if she loves the Beatles
I know I'm living in the dark ages, but
what is orchiette? (If you don't mind my asking.)
Talk about the dark ages
I worked as inhouse Transcriptionist from 1973 to 2002 and never, ever had to perform the duties you speak of. I did transcription and that was it. And talking about it being so stressless at home, there are posts here time and time again about people being bothered by the phone, door, neighbors and the children and being unable to work so can work both ways except I never did the first.
GPs see all ages, internists usually start at 16, and peds can see them to 18 or even 21.

It's been ages since I was invited to a baby shower.
Care to share? What's the ONE thing or several if you must that you WISH somebody had gotten you but didn't when you had your baby showers? Maybe there's someone here with a new baby who could share what they'd have appreciated as a shower gift. Thanks.
Thanks for saying that. Since MQ has spread out
I don't get those notes from my QA personnel anymore, so I never get the feedback I used to. There were a couple who patted me on the back for struggling through some of these awful dictators and it made me feel my efforts were worth it! Thanks for the post
We put on the spread....sm
Ham, chicken pastry, chicken salad, deviled eggs, collards, sweet potato crunch, cabbage, corn, butterbeans, peas, homemade buiscuits, cornbread, and lots of dessert.
Then the kids have a big Easter egg hunt!

Surprise
Wouldn't the people in the airport be surprised! LOL.
To taken by surprise sm
Don't hire her, ignore her, she's trouble! Been there, done that, she's a prima donna, a "queen" and you don't need her. Anyone who says they'll let you know before you even offer them a position is a megalomaniac, so full of herself she'll never listen to you. I'd rather have someone who is a true "listener," she's not. If you think she was rude at the interview, wait until you try to work with her! Stay clear of her.
spread the love
For some reason I tape it everyday even though I agree there is too much swapping around. Or either somebody is coming back from the dead. Ever notice how Y&R and B&B story lines are so much alike? I agree about the Jack/Phyllis/Brad/Victoria stuff. The weirdest part to me is how Abby is Victoria's half sister/soon to be stepmom. Ick double ick.
HOW do we spread the word?
It's like a slap in the face to American transcriptionists. The fact that American doctors don't even know it's going on....how can that be? How do we get the word out? We need to do something, but what? Do we start at home by talking to our own family doctor? Do we write our congressman? Can they do anything?
Or Oprah! That would spread everywhere!
:)
Spread the word
What I've been doing for quite some time is telling everyone I talk with, and I mean everyone, about the possibility of their personal information/medical records going overseas. Most often, they have absolutely no idea this is even possible. We the patients pay the deductibles and the insurance premiums, we have every right to voice to our physician/medical facility that we absolutely DO NOT want our records leaving the USA. You could even ask that the statement be included in your medical record for written documentation. If the physicians/facilities hear it enough from enough people, maybe they'll realize what a big deal this really is to us as American citizens. It may not stop offshoring completely, but it could certainly slow it down.
Why spread the word?..
Well, I kind of liked the OPs thing kept a secret. Now get ready down the road for more people hopping on the OPs bandwagon and there will be less to go around. Some things are just left better unsaid....especially publicly.
I had all those dang ages in my auto correct before. The whole 90-year-old expansion. nm

Kids at home? What ages and do you limit their internet usage?
We have a 15-year-old that is limited to 1 hour on the internet when school is not in session, and we have parental controls that allow us to see everything she has done while she was on line.
What about your household?
what a nice surprise
to get Christian support rather than flamed; it is frightening how few read their Bible and know what it says, even amongst so-called Christians.
Doesn't surprise me
They seem to be turning them into regional offices.
You might be in for a surprise considering he replied..

Noodle surprise.....
Wonderful casserole with hole wheat noodles, onions, mushrooms, yogurt, veggie cheese. I don't eat anything with a face.
It might be nice if you spread that message
through a memorial fund through the school.
Unfortunately, we are in a society that stopped recognizing the value of teachers and how they can impact our lives.
Special, talented, gifted teachers are hard to find and should be memorialized.
Sadly, while you are not wanting to spread the name...
...Some other unsuspecting MT is signing a contract with these folks.
Believe me, I felt the SAME exact way as you back when I was fooled by D&L. I gave them the benefit of the doubt for over a month, and actually believed payment would be sent to me. I didn't talk badly about them, well not until PA Dept of Labor decided there was nothing they could do for me as an IC. Here it is, 1 year later, and I still haven't been paid...either have 20+ others who were all just suddenly *let go.*
The only loyalty you should ever have in this business is to yourself, your pocket and to a fellow struggling MT. Don't be scared to let others know the name of a company to avoid.
Good luck dealing with PA courts/magistrates/Dept of Labor, etc. I hope you get your pay.
Mine was from my high school test, back in the dark ages.
By the way, the X tip didn't work!! What a surprise!!
Thanks for trying, though!
We've been doing this for 1-1/2 years. It's no surprise. nm

Doesn't surprise me, that organization is as (sm)
shifty as they come. A coupla' broads got VERY rich by selling the rest of us down the river.
My last QA review was a BIG surprise. Here I thought I SM
always topped 98% and routinely cut into my potential earnings to maintain my own standard. Wrong! The QA person's explanations for my mistakes were confusing and seemed in some cases to contradict the guidelines and in others just plain wrong, but I figured my job was to pass the review and get back to work, so I tried again. Failed so completely I was going to be put on probation, allowed to do something like 10 or 15 reports a day until my performance came back up. So I contacted my account manager, who told me she'd take care of it, and that was the end of it. Something I heard later suggested that QA person was still there causing trouble months later. Maybe you should talk to your supervisor. I'd also start gathering documentation of prior reviews for the Labor Board if that raise doesn't come through. There are plenty of companies out there looking for skilled MTs.
That should unnerve everyone, but it shouldn't surprise us. nm

Not to be an alarmist, but did you know they can spread down her throat and into her lungs? You know
how we all here of the weird few who almost die from chickenpox? That's my family. We have horrible illnesses when we've had chickenpox. Especially once in the oral cavity, I would NOT mess with it and I'd get my kids to the doctor immediately. I barely remember it, but my airway was compromised, etc, and I ended up in the hospital. Not to mention how much those sores hurt. You need to give him/her some viscous Lidocaine or something from the doctor. Please go for medical help!
Then USA Today spread lies and you know the truth.

Love my Goldtouch -- can spread it apart and tent it up however you like. nm
No surprise companies have the upper hand....sm
With a law that says an employer can "fire at will"...I have a hard time thinking the unfairness is NOT supposed to be that way. I could bore you with my past experience but I won't..lets just say after 28 years working in one hospital,an employee file with every yearly evaluation saying "exceeds standards"..the number that was done on me by an HIM director who i later was to learn found out I knew she was "playing doctor" with one of our married OB/GYN physicians and must have felt a bit threatened by that... is a story straight out of a "Fatal Attraction" spoof. On seeing my file in the end.. there was entry after entry of documentation that was literally untrue and fabricated.... when asking a lawyer what I could do.. the answer was nothing... they can fire at will... Some employers... and more specifically HIM directors...are bad people too...
What a very sweet surprise! Happy Mothers Day

I think I'm pretty bright and pretty good, too, but
I am not a CMT. I am a medical transcriptionist who enjoys her job very much (most days). I have chosen not to pursue certification simply because I cannot afford to do so. I believe the certification is a nice thing to have, but I don't believe it is necessary for employment or for excellence in my job. If you can afford it, go for it. If you can't, don't feel too bad. You can still take pride in and do a very good job without it.
Why not have 1/2 a cup of coffee spread out over a longer period of time so it doesn't jolt ya? T
.
You can serve chili sauce or a chutney spread on a bar of soft cream cheese to put on

Angela, dont feel so bad..We have kids spread out from 25 down to 8 and they all LOVE Vegas. In fact
We take him to the M and M factory and there are a lot of different things for kids..He especially likes the swimming pools. Our teenagers love the malls/shopping and our 25-year-old goes with us to Nascar..So pack them kiddies up and head to vacation. You'd be surpised how much fun you could have. One year we took 4 of our kids for Christmas..it was strange without the snow but they really had a great time as Vegas goes all out as only Vegas could in Christmas style..lots of decorations, shows etc..
I figured it out... nm

You are SO RIGHT!! Figured that
out awhile ago. Garbage in, garbage out! I make 7 cpl and don't have all day...
figured it out
geez -- I had to go to the second option but was in a PANIC -- thanks for your help didnt see the little backwards P symbol but did go into tools and figured it out
The way I figured it out (sm)
One of the MTSOs I worked for wanted perfect everything. Then we were to look up all names since we were never given spelling and this took an extremely long time. Then the MTSO threatened to not pay us if we didn't look up the names.
Simply put, I decided it wasn't worth my time and quit.
That's what I figured. Thanks! (nm)
