Shorthand users: When I need to transcribe in all caps and use my caps lock key my abbreviations.sm
are only lower case. Is there anyway I can use get my abbreviations to expand in upper case? The only way I can do it now is by holding down my shift key. Thanks for any help you can offer.
caps
We're told that if the word replaces a person's name, such as the word Mom replaces the mom's actual name, then it should be capped. Wouldn't this then be true for a department name replacing a doctor's name? Or am I just confusing things more?
Caps after #
Mine hasn't done this for years in in word??? I've never found anything that corrects this.
all caps
After I have typed a word, is there a way to highlight it and convert it to all caps?
all caps
When I hit shift and F3, it capitalizes the first letter in the last word I typed. Mine must be a different version. However, I read an old thread that told how to change case in tools on the tool bar.
all caps
SUPER!! Thanks.
all caps or not?
Forgot to ask how it should be typed (cva or CVA) in the sentence above....cva region. Thanks
All caps, CVA. nm

I buy it and use it and it is all caps on the package. nm
:
Oh, get over it. The caps on -- that's what was funny!
Still is!
Of course your question was serious. I don't have any info on that company.
I was just trying to give you a little hint about "yelling"!
Per AAMT BOS, don't have to use all caps SM
or mixed case for brand names, just the beginning cap is enough.
Caps and Shorthand
If you type the abbreviation in all caps, it will expand in all caps. If you just type the first letter of the abbreviation in caps, then it will expand with only the first letter of the first word in caps.

Always thought it was two caps also...nm

Two letter caps
Thanks guys. At least I feel better knowing that I have checked everything where I thought it should be. I actually went into autocorrect and typed in my own corrections so that if I accidently keep the shift key down (I dont know why I do it, but I seem to not be able to lift that finger up with the second letter) it will correct automatically.
I also feel like they should get input about thier program from typists so that we can give them feedback.
Thanks for all the suggestions. It helped alot.
If I was yelling, it would be all caps.
I'll be sure to tell my chronically ill child to stop being ill so we can obtain more of a financial cushion.
Caps Toggle?
Is there a caps toggle keyboard command? In other words, is there a way to change mixed case to caps without typing it all over again? TIA!
is your caps lock on?
If so, it won't let you do anything in your expander.
Or try doing a copy and paste into your expander.
CAPS all the time
In the middle of transcribing an ER report, my keyboard/computer (??? not sure which), caused a problem where no matter what I did it would only do upper case...my caps lock was not on (no light indicating it was on) and sticky key function didn't work to get rid of it. I finally had to exit out of platform and then waited a few minutes and when I logged back on everything was fine. Has anyone ever had this happen to them. I am using ExText If you have had this happen to you, what did you do to get out of it?
Thanks for your help.
Need help with punctuation and caps
I have MS Word 2003. This program has always capitalized the first letter after a colon (:) and for some reason today it stopped. I cannot figure this out for the life of me. I have been in Tools, etc, and see nothing that addresses this problem. If anyone has had this problem and knows how to correct it, please enlighten me. LOL

Entry-Level MTs
Hello to all!
Can anyone give any advice on where I may be able to go and find an entry-level MT position? I greatly appreciate all the responses I hope to receive. Thanks all!
Entry Level MT's
MedQuist hires entry levels with good testing scores. Fax them your resume. Its worth a try. Good luck
data entry
Has anyone done Data Entry jobs from home? Thanks
this happens to me sometimes if my entry came from an enrich...sm
I would use the search function in the glossary viewer and edit the entry...if you edit it, it should work fine. Or, you can just make a new entry with the same sentence

Entry level MT's
Hello.................I know all of you are tired of hearing about how hard it is to find a job at entry level. I have two certificates from two separate programs. I have been working for a clinic here where I live part time typing clinic notes. It is only about two hours per day. I found a lady on this site who said she would hire anybody if she could find somebody willing to work. I emailed her and she promised to get me started asap. That was a few months before Christmas and she still hasn't contacted me. Does anybody know how to get started as entry level. I truly need the work. My part time is paying well but two hours a day is not very much. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.................
entry level
It is very true, I graduated college in 2004 and I am still looking to find a company that will hire me at the entry level.
We are more than data entry BUT...
Yes, they will still need us to copyedit and clean up the voice recognition and offshore "crude" product, but from what I've read on these boards, there's not going to be much money in this for MTs.
I too am thinking of leaving MT for another field. This summer my 15-year-old son got his first summer job as basically an unskilled laborer at minimum wage, and he was making quite a bit more per hour as I ended up getting, turning an Indy 500 ESL's mishmash into a perfect operative report. The day I learned that, I decided to start rethinking my career choices.
By the way, I'm one more experienced MT who finds it mind-boggling that people are still out there debating the merits of the various MT schools out there. Wake up and smell the coffee, people!
data entry
I agree. But don't you know, there's always someone lurking in front of their keybord waiting to belittle someone else's from-the-heart question??
next blog entry is up for those of you who like it

anyone know how to enter an entry for
-year-old where I don't have to backspace the expansion?
Help with setting new entry in VPN
I need some expertise... I have VPN for a company on desktop set up, need to create a new entry for another company.. .is that possible? I have the file in the right folder (PCF or something close to that file) and did the wizard, but it says no valid ID when I know it is... what am I doing wrong?
It is an entry position.
I wouldn't consider it a crap job. It is an entry position. There is not a lot of stress unless you work in ICU. If someone codes then the unit clerk has to take notes while the patient is being worked on (at least where I worked). Other than that I enjoyed it. A lot of paper work, keeping the charts in order, answering phones, that type of stuff.
make sure your caps lock is not on...but..

Pry off the caps lock button.

caps = you are yelling online *lol*
Anyone type their e-mails in all caps?
A co-worker sends the entire e-mail response in all caps regardless of the question. I was always told it meant shouting. If there is some other meaning please inform.
me
I agree that all caps=screaming .
I would try to politely let her know. That could save her from an embarassing situation in the future.
P.S. Caps above simply for emphasis ...
When I read over it again after the message posted the caps came off to me as being a little snotty, and that's not what I intended ...
Please don't type in all caps, hard
to read and is considered screaming on the net.
Entry-level position
Hi, I received my MT diploma in August of 2004 from The Career Development Institute. My average grade was 97%. I was very excited about finding an MT position but soon discovered that I was in a catch-22 situation. I had the training and medical terminology education but no experience. Every advertisement that I found required at least two years of working experience. Is there any advice anyone could give me to get my foot in the door? How do MT's begin working when they are new to the field?
Any info. would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Jane L. Creppel
Entry-level Position
Thanks so much! I appreciate the info.

Entry-level position
Thank you. I will contact the school. Hopefully they can help.
Tip on how to break into entry level...
Could you post the tip? I think I missed it. There's someone else above looking for tips, and it might help her too. Thanks!
Entry-level jobs
Does anyone know of any companies that hire new graduates?
Data Entry Jobs
Does anyone know where I can find information about legitamit companies that hire for data entry work at home. Looking for my daughter, who wants to stay home with her small child. Thanks!
Is it transcribing or data entry?

Might have to do Ctrl + K and then Alt + B and your entry, then turn off.

Entry Level Jobs
Hi everyone! I have a quick question for anyone who has the time to answer. I am looking in to a career in the MT field. I have not started classes yet but I am going to check them out next week. I did a search for MT companies in my area. I noticed that on alot of their websites you had to have so many years experience before you could gain employment with them. If I decide to take classes in medical transcription, how likely is it that I will be able to find employment with someone on an entry level? I have heard from some people that it is nearly impossible to get a job without the experience even if you have certification. Is this true?
Shorthand users. Can you tell me how to set up an entry for...sm
today's date and yesterday's date so it will expand correctly? TIA
Data entry position
My post did show so I will ask again...does anyone know where I can find a listing of jobs for data entry positions?
Add the nonbreaking hyphen in your entry. sm
Add the nonbreaking space for your other entries.
In MS Word, the shortcuts are: Ctrl+Shift+Hyphen and Ctrl+Shift+Spacebar
I'd keep the habit but change the IT entry
so that it comes out the way you want it - make it adjust to your habits.
