inconsistent volume due to moving away from mic and then back again.
Plus mushmouths, auctioneer-wannabes, clueless ESLs, and cellphones and beepers too close to the mic, and monotone dictators who bore the crap out of you.
Plus any dinging spellcheck bell that blows out your eardrum, too, if the volume is up due to Marilyn Monroe sexily giving dictation in her soft voice. Not doc's fault but still a pet peeve.
I am a supervisor and trust me you don't just send emails and
take it easy. There is a lot of responsibility to it and it is a stressful job.
Just send emails to your team and take it easy... you really thing that is what

We don't have to SAVE lists of mistakes to refer back to. They are readily available at any given
Believe it or not, that's the kind of stuff we see all day long on a daily basis. Your resentment for QA is shining through. Perhaps you recognize some of these errors....
Maybe I will send it back.
Yes, maybe that's what I will do!! Tell them that they might need it more than me when all the lawsuits are over.
Just open glo file in Word, highlight all, then change case and save back
to glo file. Use the Alt key trick to highlight just the column of words, then Shift + F3 to toggle through the change case commands. First save your glossary under a different name so you also keep the original.
Wouldn't you love to send it back and say
"and it's a good think you use YOUR spellchecker, Ms. Boss Lady!"
I've gotten these kinds of emails numerous times and it steams the heck out of me.
Why can't you send the notes back by email
them in the hospital? That's what I used to do. Zipped and encrypted the files and they received and printed them at the hospital.
DH ordered it and I made him send it back unopened
I think that was 2005 edition - using 2004 which I found at the time (2004-2005) not to have a lot of the drugs and actually Google and the many, many drug sites were more helpful. Agree with Wise below.
no, i don't use template features. use hypersend to send back. nm

I would just supply one digital copy, either send the work back
via an FTP site or email attachment or whatever, or keep addending to a CD, but let them keep their own archives. And why can't they print when you deliver the CD or the work in digital format? I don't do any printing at all. Everything goes back digital and they keep their own copies. Once I bill for the month, everything gets deleted, as it should be under HIPAA.

Consistency is the key. It is confusing to them if you are inconsistent.

I am sure that emails to clients and emails to IC --sm
transcriptionists rank in two different categories. Emails to transcriptionists are probably much more frequent, the supervisors have alot more work to do than sending emails and are in a hurry. Perhaps concentrating on your own work instead of typos in an email would be more productive. which is more important?? geez. give others a break.
I used to work for a hospital that used Meditech and we found the line counts to be inconsistent. SM
I used to be a supervisor and was trying to find a way to monitor productivity on Meditech and found that line counts fluctuated greatly! I did all kinds of comparisons - typed reports in word and counted the lines in word with MP Count and then compared it with Meditech and there was sometimes near a 200 line discrepancy at the end of the day. Then we found that running a line count twice in Meditech on the same MT and same reports would get us two different numbers with about 20 lines difference.
Meditech is just not MT friendly, but unfortunately MTs are at the bottom of the list of considerations when choosing an EMR system. I gave up and started keeping track of minutes of dictation.
I did try to save the file first but it wouldn't even let me save it.

corrections...
I guess I should have "proofed" my own question.. I meant I don't want to charge to much or sell myself short and instead I typed basically the same thing. Boy, I guess I just don't realize how much I depend on my autocorrect/spellcheck/grammer!!!!
Corrections:
I always send a reply to QA if I know for a fact that they are incorrect. If you notice on their email to you they have CC'ed every person in the company that they know so I automatically reply to ALL with my response and always say at the end,, "please note this was CC'ed to all you orginaly sent to, please respond to my question as timely as possible". If this does not happen I CC the lead QA and/or my AM and ask what is up.
The last I did this I got a very "sincere" email back from QA explaining that she has several accounts she QAs for and that each has their on site notes and she had mixed up the site notes from one to the other.
Hope this helps.
I'm available. I like getting corrections because I'm a perfectionist.
Sounds like the prima donna is on an ego trip and doesn't want to slow down.
RE: Responses to corrections. One sure..sm
way, I have found, to get a response is to cc your response (double check your response for 100% correctness, first, though) to their supervisor or management. (They have no qualms about doing this to us when chewing us out, but they're too busy, i.e, too good, to answer our e-mails) So now they know mgmt. is in on it, they feel challenged and have to prove they're right, nevertheless. Wanna bet they'll respond?
It would be 3 cpl on corrections to edited
I do not know of a company or a platform that credits typed corrections on edited reports at a straight transcription rate. Of course, that does not mean that there are not any out there, just that I have not heard of any.
At 3 cpl, your production would have to be incredible to make decent money, especially if all you were doing was editing.
Being able to do those corrections is just good .
I often drive through MacDonald's for an iced coffee, but I don't want it made the usual way with a load of liquid sugar. They're happy to accommodate my request. If I decide I want something else between the speaker and the window, they'll change my order without complaining. They give me extra napkins and sound as though they really enjoy serving my needs. They keep their restrooms clean, too.
That's just good customer service. Those things keep me going back to MacDonalds.
MT isn't much different. It's a customer-service business. We all like to think we're indispensable, but we're not. There are all sorts of other people who'd love to be doing that dictation instead of you.
Getting changes like that might be annoying, but accommodating them is part of the job. Maybe if you saw it as the reason you HAVE a job, you'd be less frustrated by it.
Can VR make those changes? No. I think that says enough.
VR -Lots of corrections
Lots of corrections. Occasionally, a VR will go smoothly with only a few quick corrections. But that is, I would estimate, 5% of them. 95% of them have many, many corrections. VR does not correctly hear what they are saying - Last week, voice recognition had "rectum" as the word - it was SUPPOSED to be wreck (the doc mentioned a motor vehicle wreck). Not MOTOR VEHICLE RECTUM. And renumbering all medications and allergies, taking out the commas at the medications, and putting them in a numbered line with periods is time-consuming. Actually, I like VR - but we need to get full transcription pay for full medical term knowledge and time-consuming corrections. If these companies think VR is accurate, then let them turn in the reports without us correcting them!!!
EditScript does not always hold corrections
I've been there and had this happen. I wound up getting a new computer with more memory (though I had a good bit already). It seems EditScript is a large program and takes other programs working also to support it. It was frustrating to take all the time to edit reports and upload them, only to get nasty feedback in return that I should have made the corrections I made. A new computer with lots of memory solved that problem for me.
They expect us to make the corrections
which is the purpose for sending the fax out, so the MT information has to be on there, which is why I think it should be sent individually. Especially for those who are just learning I do not think they need every mistake broadcast to each MT. But maybe I'm being to sensitive? I just don't think you should be "called on the carpet" so to speak in front of everyone.
I actually asked my MD the other day do dictate his corrections instead of handwriting them in.
An addendum, minor corrections are one thing - being a slob dictator who consistently cannot put his

I don't get why you are getting these emails. sm
Do you give your email out? Do you buy stuff online? Do you have a firewall and a pop up blocker, etc.
I have an email address that very few people know through my ISP which is heavily protected. It rejects most attachments and even wouldn't let me open some pictures that my sister tried to send me.
I also have a Yahoo email that I barely ever use. If I do order something online, which is very rare, I give the company my Yahoo email address and then I will go there to check the status of my order.
I did this because I learned the hard way though. When I worked inhouse a few years back, the medication Levitra had just arrived on the market. I was transcribing, had no idea what it was and I Googled it. The hospital I worked at had no firewall protection, etc. and I got more emails than I can count on how to "enhance my male sexuality." It was so annoying!! I was a grandmother of 2 at the time.
Get a new email address, give it only to those that you want to hear from. Do not open attachments even if they are from your best friend, and dump the old address.
Yes, I kept all the emails....
Out of curiosity, on what grounds would an MTSO have to justify contacting any of my previous employers/MTSOs? I've been MTing at home for many years and I had no idea an MTSO would or could call other MTSOs and say things that are untrue.
I had thought about a lawsuit, but I'm afraid of her!
No, she is not at Seascript.
Emails
Yes, we started receiving emails of this nature addressed from our own email addresses before Christmas. I called my internet company and started sending them to their abuse address. I also started checking my mail through their port instead of my own email program for a while, still do X days a week. Also, they told me to run a good virus/spyware/malware program to see if I had a virus. I run McAfee, Spyblaster and downloaded Ad-aware. Spybot is a good program if it doesn't interfere with your virus program, it does with McAfee. Check out KimKomando.com. She talks about many free programs for different issues. Some information you can access, other you have to be a member. This mail has stopped for me.
Blank emails-me, too
I have always used Spybot and Adware SE, but read they sometimes miss things, so I just bought NoAdWare. Was I surprized at the stuff it found compared to the other ones (including Norton AntiVirus, and my server software)! I had 4 "dangerous" and 92 "severe" the very first day...that have been on my system for quite a while.
Since then, I have also been receiving blank emails. I'm now up to 5 every time I receive my mail. I've been getting a lot of junk mail all of a sudden and have no idea why. My favorites are winning the lotteries. If I believed them, I would have a bankroll of well over $100,000,000,000. The other ones where I am named in someone's will. Love it. Dream on.
Don't know what to say or what else to do about it without changing my email addess again, and I sure don't feel like doing that. I just did change it 3 months ago.
Generally no emails
As an IC at a small MTSO, if there is very low workloads, there is usually no email. I thought this was strange myself, since if it was my company, I would be keeping my people closely updated and thinking about them and their needs and anticipating their questions and concerns. I would have to take the initiative to email asking "is there anything wrong?" or "is something the matter with such-and-such account?" or "is there a technical problem somewhere?" I would then get an email answering my question. I think it is impolite and unprofessional for a business not to keep their people closely posted and put them first.
PS - the other emails are horrendous

stupid emails!
Does anybody know how to keep these ridiculous emails from coming? It seems like every day I'm getting more and more of them, you know, the ones that have absolute nonsense in the subject line? I don't read them, just delete them, but I must get 15 or 20 a day and I'm sick and tired of it. I feel like my privacy is being invaded, and it is just junk filling up my mailbox.
stupid emails
Okay then, again, thanks very much for your help. I am going to check this out because at this point I'll try anything to stop the insanity! It's just crazy the stupid, stupid stuff people send via email to clog up the mailboxes. I wonder, does anybody even READ this junk? And better yet, does anybody ever BUY stuff from this spam email? Sorry, I just get carried away with this subject; it's a true thorn in my side. Again, I thank you.
Yes, they can read the emails. nm

Maybe the *other* board is where the emails came from : )

Saving sent emails,,sm
saving sent emails may sound like a good idea, but that is taking up storage space in the email box. I don't know how much quota your email service provides, but mine is not that much, and I have business class. Your sent box is counted as part of your quota, as well, so it would not be advisable to store a months worth of sent emails, particularly with attached files. perhaps she should look into using an FTP site where you could store the files in My Documents and then just send via ftp, which is a whole lot faster than email and it is encrypted for transfer. suggest it to her. and then start charging her for time spent resending files. That is her job, not yours. my boss occasionally will ask for an individual file to be resent, but never a whole months worth. maybe you should also start looking for different employment. I could not work for someone who got mad at me for something she did. sorry. JMO.
She stated they were using them in emails,

lewd emails
Yes, I got a bunch of those. It came from a site that was sending me emails on panic disordewhich was totally unrelated to such things. The person who operated the panic attack site was very apologetic, she had been victimized by the viagra peddlers and unwittingly passed it on to her subscribers. My computer did not get the virus and I set spam filters to reject anything with Viagra, Cialis, Levitra and now the problem is almost gone. They do go in spam folder on AOL and I look there occasionally to be sure that some of my good email hasn't been accidently put there. Looking at the subject lines sometimes makes me laugh. these sex pill vendors are either semi literate and/or foreigners.
Check your emails! nm

Just was looking at another MT site and MTs from MQ are talking about getting emails from the
supervisor threatening them to hire more MTs if the accounts arent kept in TAT and they are sitting there with no work. I think MQ must be so desperate anymore that they are losing their minds. They must work for Amherst also. They keep hiring and hiring and if the weekend has one report out of TAT they hire more people. These companies are losing it I am afraid. I wonder if MQ is losing more accounts that they are doing this.
emails for action plan
and now they send out emails wanting to know our action plan for wkends, whether we are working, so they are cvd. no extra $$, just remind you to "get the lines while you can"
Your emails don't make sense
There are scam emails that claim to come from
Gotta be careful.
I tried that out once...WAY too many emails...DROVE ME NUTS!!!

I just use Outlook Express, so my emails - sm
our stored on my computer (40GB), so in my case it is not an issue. If the OP sends her emails the same, then she can easily save the work emails unless she has a very old computer with no substantial hard drive.
keep track of emails; keep producing; it's all you can do.
