The story is that hyphens make for difficult reading (I've been an MT on and off for years, and I've never heard that from anyone who reads charts).  Pressure to reduce characters we get paid for, maybe??


Now with tumor staging...that's just plain crazy-making.  Which is harder to read:  2-cm or T2N1M0???  Again:  I wonder if it's pressure from someone to reduce characters for which we are paid.  (Cue up theme from "X-Files.)



Yes:  I agree that whoever fiddles around with this stuff needs to get a real job.  Or go volunteer at a nursing home.  Or shovel dirt.  Do some real work instead of this nonsense.  Can you tell I'm frustrated & confused?
