i've had it for about the last 10 years and tried all the scripts, diet changes and nothing seemed to help long term and most made it worse. over this past year i've switched to using a face cleanser from arbonne and their recover night cream and it's been the best help yet. the re9 recover night cream soothes the sting instantly and my redness is very minimal and can now be covered with light make up (i can now use covergirl or loreal and they are pretty inexpensive). i was using revlon colorstay because it was heavy and could cover the red, but it also made the redness worse. i've tried most of the mineral makeups and they only made my skin really dry and flaky not to mention are really expensive. once i found a color combo that looked good on me, within a couple of hours it would look awful because the oil in my skin seemed to change the color of the mineral makeup the longer i had it on. i take flax oil. it's supposed to be good for your heart and circulation but i've noticed that my skin is so much better with it (plus it has omega 3 which is good for you too). my suggestion would be to hit the health food store and start using a natural face cleanser and moisture cream. that seems to be the only thing that has consistently kept my redness to a minimum and now my skin doesn't hurt anymore and hasn't for almost a year. good luck! it's hard work finding what works for you

Does anyone else have this condition? What do you for it? I've had it for years and of course it comes and goes. I was on antibiotics for years with a dermatologist but got tired of the side effects of the tetracycline and gave that up 3 years ago.
Sometimes my face is clear, then 2 mins. later it is all red and blotchy. About 6 mos. ago I started getting dry patches on my "T zone." I'm a mess. Tried different face cleansers, nothing helps and most make it worse.
Ideas? TIA

Thanks, Busy! I didn't realize that laser treatments could help rosacea. I will look into it.

I've had it for 20+ years, starting off with the tetracycline and metrogel, then just metrogel for several years. I started using a line by BeautiControl and haven't had to use the metrogel for 8+ years now, as the products keep it in very good control. Rosacea runs in my family, from my dad's uncles, my dad, sister and me. It acts differently with all of us, but fortunately, we've had mild cases of it. The MetroGel and Noritate both broke me out and the tetracycline is just not where I want to go again. Thanks for all your suggestions. I will start experimenting - something has to work.
