I have worked in two different versions of ris and in both I have been able to use my expanders, in fact I used a different Expander for each one, although I could have used the same one if I had wanted too, shortcut and shorthand. So I don't understand why they would not work for you.
I like ris overall as a program, very user friendly. No it does not count lines, only reports, I was paid by the report. I work in ris now and get paid by the line, so we type the report in word, then paste it in, so we can count it by the line. HOpe that helps.
