This is a discussion board...who cares about the dang spelling of a word. we have to be perfect with our daily work...let us have fun on here and not give a crap about proofreading!

No need for QA to justify their jobs. It is very much needed, especially to look over work when people do not know how to spell, look up correct spelling of drugs, dosages, etc etc... I could go on and on. Do it right and then maybe you can put us out of business.

not sure what you mean by copy and paste. I have text Expanders and "normals" that I use that really help, they are built into Chartscript or it may be called SoftWeb and you can add all the shortcuts you want. I am trying to learn the abcdz system of short cutting.
Who cares if you will be perceived
as a troublemaker? There are as many of us involved in the association as you who are disgusted with the status quo and my suggestion is that you ride it out and run for office and move the problem folks to the back burner. Believe me, it can be done. Women, unfortunately, allow themselves to be herded and if you don't like that notion then you have to stay and do something about it. Things don't make sense if you don't make them make sense. If your state organization is running amuck .. report them to Modesto .. talk to Peter Preziosi directly and tell him straight out that you want action. I think you would be very happy you chose to talk to him.

Don't you get it and even if they did they wouldn't know what they are reading anyway. Furthermore, there is something called minimize!!! It's on your screen, check it out some time, it actually minimizes the screen so no one can read your important secret information.

I don't think my complaint was 'ridiculous'. What is ridiculous is receiving pages of scribbles in the mail on a daily basis - half of which I can't even read. THe other MT's in the company warned me already about this QA dude - he's a bit of a nut case.
No, I never claimed to know everything; and I'm open to hearing specs of individual facilities; of course!. My gripe was the pettiness of it all ... but I thought that was obvious in my post, MS Busy MT'ing. Maybe you're the one that doesn't know it all !

This is getting ridiculous.
Now there's a job on the job seekers board looking for an IC MT to do acute care with ops for 7.5 cpl. IC!!! With ops!!!! Give me a break. That's equivalent to about 6.3 cpl after paying self-employment taxes, not to mention overhead. Their website says "HIPPA" instead of HIPAA, too.

I also have a 4-year-old and the whole point of preschool at this age is the social interaction, then the academics come in to play. She still has another year of preschool before Kindergarten, doesn't she? Maybe you should consider looking into another preschool. Sounds like the teacher is the problem.

That is really time consuming. But that is my opinon. What you could do is to by sylcount and save each patient as a file and then count them and they would list each file out by the patient name. You could do an extension or by their name do cn for chart note, lt for letter, etc. Then on your invoice if you do totals by doctor, Dr. Smith total lines, Dr. Jones total lines, etc. and attach the print out from Sylcount that would show each file by the patient's name and the line count. I thought it was bad when I was subcontracting and I had to break out chart notes from letters/consults/x-rays by date and doctor. This again makes me thank my accounts as I just keep an Excel monthly line count by doctor, highlight the docs, attach to an invoice that has total line counts done in Quick Books and hand it in and they pay. Some accounts don't even want the daily break down by doctor just each doctor and a total line count. Have never been questioned once over my line counts. If this is a sudden change then I would tell them that there would be an hourly rate to figure this out and keep track of the time it takes. But again, one of the simplest programs that would do this for you would be Sylcount. Good luck.

Sometimes I wonder how much nicer this industry would be without all the control fanatics. I wish they could just be shipped out to some island to battle amongst themselves, play those control games that they enjoy so much, and leave us to complete the work in a rational time period without all these ridiculous rules.

As much "fixing up" we do of what is actually dictated, I think it's pretty crappy if you get points off for simple punctuation.
Just think if we all left everything completely verbatum (especially those dictators who say coma every other word or say to put periods in the middle of a sentence)!

I have not worked for a doctor yet who cares about BOS.
It is the transcription company owners who sell it not the doctors or facilities. None of my docs want anything to do with the single space after a period. They all still accept the 1-10 spelled out too, amoung other things. They do not have the time to nitpic over stuff that the AAMT group is so fixated on. They want to practice medicine and be given well transcribed, neat, correct documents and that is exactly what I do. I say if you want to start your own...go for it! Transcription companies will tell their Transcriptionist to do it their way anyway and someone out there might like your ideas better!

I'm not an idiot. I work for the paycheck and I know the MTSO's are in it for the money. Yes, business is business, but let me tell you, I've had a boss like you, Minnie. A boss that could care less about her employees personal situation or how it affects their job. She didn't want to know anything about her employees except that they can do the job. She wanted us to punch the timeclock and type 8 hours at full speed and to heck with everything else. So what if one of us was a single mom trying to make ends meet. So what if someone had a death in the family and was distracted. So what if another had just gone through a divorce and was having a little trouble feeling motivated. Who cares? She didn't.
And not Minnie either, apparently.
That boss who didn't care about me, got the bare minimum out of me. When work was out of TAT and she wanted people to volunteer for OT, do you think I volunteered? When someone called in sick and she needed someone to cover the weekend, do you think I volunteered?
Now I have a boss who truly cares about me and all her employees at the hospital I currently work for. We love her and she loves us. She wants to know why we're having a bad day. She sends us cards to make us feel better. And when our production falls off, she is always understanding. That does mean she is a push over. She knows when someone is taking advantage and she is fully prepared to discipline if the occasion calls for it, but she knows who doesn't take advantage and is willing to give and to those of us she trusts, she extends to us her kindness, compassion, and understanding.
And do you know what? All of us would do anything for her because she would do the same for us. I work OT whenever she needs it. I have changed my shift to working until midnight because she asked me to and needed the coverage while someone was off getting surgery. In turn, when my step-nephew was killed in a car accident, even though he wasn't a blood relative and didn't technically qualify for me to take bereavement leave, she let me take it anyway because I needed to help my sister and brother-in-law (it was his son). And when my daughter has a field trip, she lets me flex my hours so I can go. And when it was basketball season with my son, again I was able to flex my hours so I could make all of his games.
Do you see where I'm going with this?
People should care about other people. We should care that someone is a single mom and is struggling and we should offer our support and help if we can. And the MTSO's should care about their people. Happy people work harder. If you show your people you care about them, they will work harder for you because they want to and they appreciate you.
Minnie, if I worked with you or for you... well I wouldn't work for you long, let's just say that.

No one cares. I have told many people SM
their medical reports are going offshore and NO ONE CAREES. They look at me and smile, like I have just escaped from an institution. They don't give a flying fig where their reports are done. They don't even read them.
That's pretty sad...almost every doc I know cares about people.
They usually get out of that *I'm doing this to get rich* phase during their residency.
