no excuse for not researching with google or even yahoo. my neighborhood is zoned to not allow trailer parks (ever wonder why???) thus my property if more valuable than another community that is not zoned against trailer parks. Now did you ever consider why communities would even think of having a zoning commission that would ban trailer parks. Community standards might come in to play and they don't want property values diminished. GOOGLE friend. The truth will set you free.

Obviously in whatever was said about trailer parks,
nobody was referring to you and you seem to have taken it too personally. No flames here. Just understand, trailer parks got their bad name long before you came along. Yes, there are some nice ones out there, but the majority that get into the spotlight get there because of bad things. So, don't take it personally unless it applies to you and hopefully now that you've had your rant you feel better.

My neighborhood will allow it, but they have a lot of obstacles -- fortunately. I don't even thing trailer park developers or landlords care about the folks they sell to. Trailers DEPRECIATE in value, unlike standard housing. Banks won't even lend money to finance or mortgage them. You have to finance them through other means, usually with high interest rates. Not a smart investment.

There is absolutely nothing to be ashamed about living a mobile park. and for your information lady, you bettr have good credit and a good recommendation or else the will not take you in some of the trailer parks. You are a snob and an arrogant woman. Where you from NEW YORK? Have you ever lived in a a mobile home park. Most low income could NOT afford it, after all when you have to pay 500 bucks a month for lot rent. you are so full of it....I live in a mobile home court and Love it. it's clean, with security, and there are no old mobile homes in this court. Get off your high horse...GEEZ.. THEY DO REQUIRE CREDIT CHECKS MS SMARTY PANTS.

Saw on the Travel Channel the ones in Malibu...I HAVE a home appraised at 239,000 and only wish I could sell it, get rid of all the sniveling neighbors and move into a nice trailer & park, where I could actually have the time to enjoy me neighbors and live, rather than work  my butt off for this "brick house"
Keep your attitude, and enjoy your home. My bro lives in a fantastic "mobile home estate" and has just the best community. He had emergency surgery,quite unexpected, but you can rest assurred there were meals at his door, which was swept off and his yard and garden well tended. 
college kids in trailer parks? where?
that's a new one. i never saw a trailer park on campus or even near a campus.

You know that. If you choose to live in a trailer park that is certainly your right but sorry the stigma is there and I nor the OP created it. There was a running joke about Paula Jones (Clinton's "friend") being trailer park trash. Why? I don't know as I do not live in trailer park nor do I want to because I don't want the stigma. I was looking at property in North Carolina and there was no zoning regulation so the property was across the street from a trailer park which brought property values down. I am not making this up nor do I create it. It is what it is. Oh, BTW, there is a new show coming on MTV, a parody I think of the home improvement shows, where a gay biker type grit, tries to rehab trailer homes. Hilarious. Again, I didn't make it up nor stigmatize trailer parks. Someone took a concept of their idea of people and their trailer homes and ran with it. There is also the same idea in Blue Collar TV with Jeff Foxworthy on Comedy Channel.
Bottom line, there is a stigma to living in a trailer park and you have to learn to live with that. I personally can't live with the stigma and do not entertain the thought of moving to a trailer park. I think it would be hard on my kids to have that trailer park stigma on them as they enter school.
trailer parks and low level housing is where criminals generally go.
not too many criminals have good jobs to afford a nice house. i know of child molester filled neighborhood because there are no restrictions, no HOA and the houses are low income homes. no this doesn't only happen in trailer parks but crime statistically happens more often in worse neighborhoods and more ex-criminals statistically live in lower level neighborhoods.
I neatly folded all of his things...
boxed and bagged them -- even the obscure things like photographs he had forgotten, his GED diploma, etc. I placed into his old briefcase and posted a note on the outside that they were his personal effects. I think he was feeling kinda crappy that I wasn't being nasty because he called the police up here and asked them to tell me that he had cancelled the truck insurance on me. I had actually called early yesterday and found that out. I opened a new policy in only my name. I just don't feel angry or miserable anymore. I don't have any feeling about him whatsoever. It's very surreal. I'm enjoying it though. Church for the first time tomorrow. My kids are sooo excited to be going somewhere. I'm thrilled for all of us. I will update if something new happens. The disney tickets cover 4 parks so you are not set in where you go- sm
They cover Disney, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and MGM-Studios. With a park hopper pass you can bounce between all 4 Disney parks in 1 day and it only counts as 1 day/ticket. Without the hopper option you can only go to 1 park that day, of course these are a little cheaper. Check out the Disney web site, it will explain all the ticket options so you know what to ask for when you do get your tickets. Universal is separate, is 2 parks in one basically, one side is more kid oriented than the other. Sea World is separate too, they have a few rides there now too.
You also can't enjoy the water parks in December. nm

Can you cite your statistics that trailer parks are where criminals usually go? I work in the criminal justice system in an area where all of the municipalities have "zoned out" trailers and trailer parks, and the crime rate here is much higher than in the town I originally came from, which has a trailer park every mile, it seems. While property-oriented crimes are likely to take place in poorer neighborhoods, child molesters come from every walk of life. They are no more likely to be trailer dwellers than penthouse dwellers. The difference? The penthouse dwellers have the cash to keep it quiet. Kid yourself if it makes you feel safer, but your statistics prove nothing.

I have come across this on my own records as well. Saying things that they didn't even ask or telling you opposite stuff. I was wondering the same thing. I believe it comes down to they are overworked (sometimes) and not really paying attention to the patient's needs and exactly what they are saying. Sometimes I really wonder if these docs actually treat us the correct way, isn't that scary?

It seems that the whole premise of the American system and way of life is based on lies these days. What happens at the top,(US Government) trickles down to the bottom.
Transcription schools have a lot to lose if they tell their students that outsourcing is a thing of the past. Who would go for an education as an MT if they (prospective students) thought that they were going to compete with cheap labor in India? This would level the playing field.

Not long ago there was an article in Advance magazine about salaries. CMTs do make an average of, I believe it was, 20% more than a non-CMT. That's proof enough for me.

whatever you want them to prove. As one of my instructors quoted "there are lies, damn lies, and statistics." You've just seen statistics used to prove exactly opposite statements.
I also think the problem lies with all
the advertising/seminars that tell these people that they can make $50k a year and stay at home with their children! I have worked at home for the last 12 years and my children DO NOT stay home with me unless they are sick. I am not home to "babysit" my children, I'm working.
It just amazes me.

1200 lines per day at 8 cpl is only $96.00 per day. At that rate, if you worked eight hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, you would earn just over $35K. Who does that? Anyone working full-time for an MTSO can expect to earn less than $25K and you will rarely, if ever, see a raise. This survey is, as they say, in no way scientific. It is all designed to make people think it pays to be certified, which it does not.
The problem lies with the MTSO
Any quality MTSO will have funds available at all times to pay their workers in a timely fashion whether they have received payment from their client or not.
Please keep in mind that MTSOs are paid a whole lot more money than they are paying out. They should be more responsible with managing their businesses. Don't you think for a minute that the owners are going without pay.
I think it is so pathetic that MTSOs who do not pay timely take MTs for granted the way they do. If the company I work for ever sends me a check that bounces, I will be on another company's site submitting a resume and testing that same day.
The company I work for does not offer direct deposit. Even though my check is always mailed on the proper date...it's still difficult for me because I have to wait on a check. If they don't offer direct deposit soon, I will be looking for another employer that does.
This is nothing new. This has been the way they count statistics for years. nm

that the majority of employers do not compensate extra for a CMT. I currently work three jobs. NOT ONE of my jobs compensates me for my CMT, which will expire in 2007 and I will not be renewing it. There are two sides to every coin. Why is it that you feel you have to call people who don't agree with you a whiner. That's very immature and insulting.

care to pay what you owe? It is easy to manipulate the minds of the forum readers. If you think some people even from the offshore are incompetent why did you continuously utilize the services of these people. Did you not get paid for the jobs done by these people?

Its not about you! Its about what has to be done. Like I have told people I have trained for years, learn everything you can the BEST you can and be able and WILLING to do all work types and the possibilities are better. This is not about us, this is about the patient's behind the charts! I am sorry OPs bore you but they need to be done. I hope the next time you have surgery the MT is not too bored to transcribe your record CORRECTLY or it probably will be one being done over in India with horrible mistakes.
Somewhere over the years I see MTs who think this profession is about lines and cpl and have forgotten its about transcribing a legal medical document that can be legitimate in a court room setting if needed. Some of the stuff I see coming from supposed experienced MTs is an absolute embarrassment! I have often wondered when these medical records do have to be brought into a court room setting what other people think about the people who transcribe this stuff.
On the subject of boredom, I absolutely despise and I mean DESPISE opthalmology but I do it and can do it as well as the other. It has to be done!

The lies from physician put on my medical records
I posted on this before- had plastic surgery done, 2-3 things done at 1 time including tummy tuck, face and ? forgot but anyway, the face not done. Went home, no bruising, no swelling, went and looked at my records, not done, went to the office and told the physician he had not done, he forgot, gave me an IOU on his letter head. Bottom line, I asked for the return of the amount of the facelift only, he refused, was hostile, he was personally calling my house, threatening like, I had to have my job (at same hospital where he practiced)-I just said Karma will take care. Long story short, he did not dictate my operative report until EIGHT (8) months later, then falsified, and put the biggest facelift report in there you could image. My name is French sounding, unusual, and I know that was done intentionally. Big, big lies. I told lady over medical records falsified, she said I could just put an addendum in the chart.

This is a neat trick, if you don't already use it...sm
I'm sure many of you have heard of this already, but for those who haven't...it sure helps me when I'm typing AND reading back over my work. You can hold down the control key and turn the roller wheel up a notch on your mouse to enlarge the print on your screen. Then just hit control and scroll it back down to make it smaller again. This has made it "easy on the eyes" for me. Hope someone can benefit from this as I have!
