my desktop and just do not know how to do this. Please, anybody! Thanks!
My hearing is the sharpest of all my senses. No problems here.

Could you please shed some light?
How do you find that good, fair boss/company? From what I gather through reading posts on various forums and my own experience, it is more likely to experience the bait and switch than being dealt with honestly.
poos don't shed.......why a dog question
on a medical transcription message board?  Interesting!  bow-wow  ~^,,^~
Can anyone shed some light on this situation for me?

I've been with this large clinic acct. since March of 2004. Since starting, they've been growing & going through lots of changes in the way they're running things. I am a part-time IC. I've gotten great audit scores and have been told I'm one of their best MTs on the account (when wanting to switch to doing more on a different acct.)

When I first started, all the work was in a pool. Sometime later, I noticed they were pretty much assigning only certain clinics to me, which they confirmed they'd starting doing it that way & it improved production. All the MTs seemed to be pleased with this. I had mostly decent dictators overall.

Not too long ago, I noticed I'd started getting overall worse dictators. When I asked my supervisor about it, via email, she said nothing had changed, I was just getting the luck of the draw. I had my suspicions that some of those in higher positions that could manipulate the work were giving themselves the good jobs, & even voiced something to that effect--slightly. But, I did notice after I'd tentatively voiced my suspicions, I started to get some of my better dictators back.

However, last week I noticed a drastic & complete change. I started getting some of the worse dictators from clinics I usually didn't work on--not some of the good dictators from that clinic, mind you, but the worse ones almost consistently. My suspicions were confirmed a few days ago by a broad email sent to us all that there had been some work-pool changes. In effect, it was saying those of us who weren't doing well by their criteria, i.e, QA utilization, production, audit scores, accountability & quality, were not going to be getting work when it was available, but it would go to the ones who meet all this criteria, and that basically we were going to be getting the junk, to paraphrase.  Since work usually doesn't download until later in the morning, they were going to save any morning work for the "good" MTs.

Now, I know that I am meeting all those criteria, and I am so upset by the fact I'm getting all the junk now. From reading this board, I'd thought I'd learned that companies will give full-time employees the better work instead of the ICs, that this somehow is better for the company. Could anyone advise me of this? Could there be another reason for this that mgmt doesn't want to tell us, other than trying to attack our work & say it's our fault?

Yes, could be, I guess. He still has not shed one tear and it's been 13+ months. SM

I wonder if he really needs to see some kind of a counselor about his life in general, but my brother is very hard to suggest things to.  But, one thing I do know, if they don't get a handle on this boy's smart-mouth and terrible attitude toward his dad and his grandmother who is helping out, I just believe they are in for some horrific years to come.  I've raised 2 teenagers, one who gave me problems and one who did not, and this is different from what I had to deal with and also at a younger age.  His dad just seems resigned to the fact that, well, this is how it is and how it's going to be.  I can't just sit by and let the whole family crash and burn, but there's only so much that I feel I can do.  The grandmother (my mother) is helping, but frankly her "mouth" is about as bad as the teenager's.  It's constant back and forth/back and forth between her and him - you would't believe the tone of their voices and the things they say to each other, and then the things he says to his dad.  I learned a long time ago that "tone of voices" matters a great deal in general conversation as well as arguments, and to tell you the truth, my mother can be meaner than anyone I know when she gets started.

I'm sorry ths is so long - I guess I got carried away but I might as well leave it now that it is typed.  It's just a family problem that we have.

I live in Idaho and maybe I can shed a little light.
It depends on where in Idaho you are moving.  If it is a rural area or smaller town, there will not be much if any work for you.  If you are moving to Boise or another bigger Idaho town, you may find something fairly quickly.  The best thing to do is to use a search engine on the Internet for the town you are moving to and find out all of the medical facilities/hospitals in and around that area and then send them a letter and a resume and let them know you are looking for work.  That is how I found my transcriptionist jobs (I work for three different offices).  I hope this helps.
Has anyone ever had major surgery and a few months later started to shed a lot of hair. I am having
that right now and I wonder how long this goes on. Much more hair loss when brushing and washing than before. Scary.
your tool bar
has a language option. I use it all the time when I need to transcribe for UK
on your tool bar at the top....
there is a paragraph symbol. click that and your formatting should turn off.
tool bar

Open Word, run your mouse up to the top of the page and right click in the space where you would see the tool bar, another elongated box should pop up, click standard or whatever tool boxes you use.  If this does not get your tool bar back, under tools go to customize.  This will bring up the same information to access your various tool bars.

HOPE THIS HELPS!

Andi

Yep, I'm a complete tool like that.

I thought as I aged I would grow cojones...the problem is, we moved up here and it's just so far away from friends and family, that when company does show up, planned or not, it is truly a blessing.  I am incredibly lonely up here, and as I work out of a home in a land where I don't know ANYONE except my immediate neighbors, friends have not been easy to make and, well, you can see why I have so many postings on this board.

So, I guess I'll continue to treat people as I wish to be treated...with a big hug, a warm smile, and a "I'm so glad you were able to stop by"...and then stress out and drink black coffee laced with 1/4 pound of suger catching up on work while they sleep soundly.  I only got this one life, so I might as well try to squeeze everything into it with at least a calm and cool outer appearance    ;-)

moving tool bar
So I played around with Word. There are three dots to the right of the word File. Put your curser on the three dots and drag them back up to your tool bar. They will then be in a "little bar/box" then click on that bar again and "drop" it back on top. Hope that helps!

I am a slow-medium typer, and I do quite well straight typing, using a word Expander program and LOTS of expansions. With VR I found less opportunity to take advantage of expansions. Expander programs and VR are both tools we can use to increase our productivity. Because the VR pay is so low, I choose to straight type and use the expander tool.
great motivational tool

I have found that this greatly motivates me to keep my speed up.  I set one of those metal change counters that you wear on your waist next to my screen. Everytime I complete a line I press the nickel lever and a nickel falls out. Just the sound of that makes me want to type faster.  For those of you who make 7 to 8 cpl, it is a few more presses per line, but definitely will keep you going as fast as you can.

Usually you can click - drag and drop them where you want them - hope this works for you this time.

SEARCH tool does not work...

When I try using the SEARCH tool, to look up past information, it does not work.  Is this just temporary, or am I doing something wrong?

TIA~

MS word tool bar - another question
I also lost the "paragraph" symbol and cannot seem to get it back the same as the print and print preview method. Can you guide me on this one as well
MS WORD - TOOL BAR QUESTION

Part of my toolbar, from file through help, is now vertical along the left side of my screen. I checked "help" but could not come up with the solution for moving it back to the horizontal top of the screen position.

Thank you

I think you click on the symbol for return on your tool bar

Great tool for creating shortcuts

I just found this really great site with a tool on it for counting the repeated phrases in documents which we as MTs can use to make shortcuts!

here it is:  http://medicaltranscriptionexpandproductive.blogspot.com/

The water bottle is a very good training tool

for cats (squart guns too).  Get a good scratching post and rub it with catnip.  I use double-sided tape that I get from the Foster&Smith website and the cats leave my furniture alone.  (I have 4 cats).  The log is a nice idea too...messy but nice in addition to scratching posts and such.

Not all combs/brushes are created equal and I have found that the curry-comb type work best.  They are sometimes called a shedding comb.  It is in the shape of a loop with a handle.  I put a towel on the floor and go to town!  In the spring I can get a cat-sized ball of fur off of them using this comb.  Regular combing will really help keep your house cleaner.  You still need to use a roller or duct tape placed around your hand to remove it from your furniture on a regular basis.  Good luck.

icons/tool tray on side of screen
Can't move them back to the bottom where they were, inadvertently moved them when resizing screens.  How do I get them back on the bottom?  TIA
Transferring Bayscribe Productivity Tool into Word

Does anyone know if it's possible to make the Bayscribe Productivity Tool work in Microsoft Word?  Or at the very least, transfer the expansion list into Word's expander?

its a tool like macros, you have to teach it to understand you and edit at first the words it does
What I understand is, it helps out if you have body parts that are giving out, but it will not, say.. double your production.
There is an upload hanheld icon on the tool bar of the Olympus software.
from the unit to the computer, then the file can be dragged and dropped.  Good luck!
Is the tool bar in your internet browser?... is the emial web based or Outlook?

There is a a button on your speech tool bar called "General Settings" SM
it has a hammer and wrench on the button.  Click that button and you will see in the center of the box that opens up (and slight to the right) "number of spaces after period."  Change that to 2 and click okay.  That should give you two spaces after the period at the end of the sentence.
it is attached to your version of Word. Open Word and it'll be on your tool bar. NM
