not painful and very quick procedure but...sm

Posted By: I had laser on chin and some face spots... on 2006-01-23
In Reply to: Laser hair removal? - MT

But......a person needs multiple sessions and that's where it gets very expensive.  The plastic surgeons I work for did it and the one who does not own the practice charged me 50%.  I went twice and didn't go back and yes, the chin hairs recurred.  It is nonpainful and fast procedure FYI.

Of course it's painful (sm)

Having needles poked into your skin tends to be painful.  It's worst over bone, though.  See link for the most comprehensive and honest FAQ I know of concerning tattooing.  One idea I liked -- use a Sharpie to draw your design and live with it for a few days/weeks to see if you really like it.

I've a nice purple dancing bear on my ankle.

Yes. It was a little painful but had great
results. I started seeing the most improvement after my 4th treatment.

painful knees

I know this is not a doctor's office, but was wondering if any one is having trouble with their knees and if anyone has any advice.   From sitting in a chair with my knees bent, they are really starting to kill me.  Thank you.

painful knees
Thanks for the feedback.
painful knees
Thanks for the feedback. I have had Lymes Disease and it might be a flair-up of the fibromyalgia. It is also in my spine. I really think I need to start walking and exercising.
Painful bruise on forearm

Please don't tell me to call my doctor - I don't have one in this area, just moved here a few weeks ago.  I will be calling to get established next week.

I have a bruise on my forearm about 1 inch below the antecubital fossa.  It spontaneously appeared 2 weeks ago, is about 1 inch long and wide (not exactly circular).   Normally, my bruises heal VERY quickly and are gone in 3 days or so - this is around for 2 weeks now and hurts - the pain is constant although rather low level.

I am not on a blood thinner and do not take aspirin products.    The only med I take is a thyroid replacement pill every day.

I'm not a wimp, and I'm not asking for sympathy or sarcasm but since this is a new occurrence for me, I'm wondering whether I should mention it to the doctor's office when I set up my establishment appointment.

P.S.:  I had a sister with leukemia, undiagnosed until after she bled to death.

Thanks for any information you care to share.

Painful fingers from typing
I experience sore, aching fingers each day from typing.  Because of this, I cannot do more than 1000 lines a day.  Ibuprofen helps somewhat.  I do not know what is wrong.  The knuckles appear a bit enlarged and upon waking in the morning each finger appears swollen.  I am a thin person.  I wear fleece gloves with no fingers all day while typing for warmth.  This is more than just an annoyance  but rather something that gets bad enough that I have trouble concentrating on typing because all I can think of is the pain.  The doctor I saw was no help at all.  Anyone else having this problem?
I agree my painful is shameful...
But as far as being full-time MTs in this area with benefits and being paid hourly this is "good". Yep, that's how badly this profession is going down the tubes.

The only place I can work other than this and make more money with benefits is the hospital and they expect even more production from you, with harder jobs that I am not experienced with.

I took the paycut becuase I get to work from home (they released me to work from after one year).

Any suggestions for painful hands/wrists from typing?

My hands are always freezing cold.  I wear fleece "wristies" to keep warmer.  I have pain in both hands all day from typing.  One wrist has a ganglion, and both wrists have some arthritis showing on x-ray.  I rub capsaisin on hands/wrists.  Still the pain persists.  Pain relievers (Advil, etc.) do not help much.   Prescriptions from doctors did nothing.

I was wondering if other heavy typers out there might have found some helpful things to alleviate hand/wrist pain.  I even purchased "warming cream" which is supposed to help increase circulation to the hands, but it did nothing.  I have several keyboards that I have tried also.

THanks!

i have telangiectasia on face. laser treatment - very painful...but works
what could be more unsightly that broken veins on the face? well, lucky me, i have them. eveyr few years go in for treatment. electrical zaps to destroy broken blood vessel. Hurts like the dickens though. Can't use pain relievers because it causes constriction of blood vessels, they told me.
My ankle pops. It's not painful, but occasionally it will get stiff and then pop very loudly.

there is good and bad in every procedure--sm
I suppose and everybodies experience is different. If you decide to do it, I wish you all the best. Keep an eye on those cells. My father died of cancer that began with esophageal cancer, two years ago. Both my brother and I have reflux problems, as well, so I do worry about it. Good luck to you in your decision.
Any MTs around that have had the LASIK procedure and how are you doing?

Please post a response

What does elective procedure got ....
nm
Very simple procedure
Download your voice files from the email to directory (folder) on your hard drive (usually should create special one just for this) you know you will always use for docking these recordings. Then open ES and click on the Load square at top of program. This will open the directories on your computer. Go find the one where you just downloaded the email recordings to, click on the one you want to bring into ES (one by one or batch). Then click the "load" key at the bottom of that screen and you should see them coming into the ES window. Takes a while for them to install if they're long. It's only complicated the first time!
operative report vs procedure
I used to think I understood the difference between these two types of reports (operative versus procedure). Somehwere along that way, amidst dozens and dozens of account profile specifications, technology advances and MDs who always key in the OP code regardless of report type, I am not so sure anymore. I would like to try to elicit a consensus on how transcriptionists distinguish between these two report types and what criteria they are using to do this?
The prep is worse than the procedure, believe me. nm

Anyone familiar with Spark procedure ...
relating to bladder suspension?  Can't find on internet.
well, i've hesitated having a procedure done
in large part due to the economy. Probably there are a lot of people that are holding off on elective surgeries along with other unessential spending....

Read the policy and procedure manual, maybe something is in there.
I do not believe there is a law, but you could check with the labor department.
Sorry, you said Edit Script - think same procedure applies though.
I think the same thing applies, go find where you downloaded it and click on the setup file. All programs will not self-install. If I remember correctly you have to find the install or setup file to start it manually. Sorry for the mix up in programs. Good Luck again.
Yep - nearly always start their para's w/ capped heading of procedure to be described.

Do you give a discount for standard procedure notes? SM

I have an account who asked me to provide them with a form that could use for standard outpatient procedure notes.  I personally feel that there are too many variations for them to use one paper form and offered for me to do it for them at a discount since almost the entire thing would be a standard that I don't have to type in its entirety.  This account is a great account and I figured it isn't a big deal say to chage 25 cents instead of a $1 (example) for the form since I only have to type a couple letters to pull up the form and insert any changes.

I really don't know the easiest way to keep track of this discount or what amount to discount.  Any ideas?  I'd rather see me getting a small amount for doing the form then to get nothing for them using a paper form.  Plus, the account is newer to me and I thought it might look like a plus for me to offer them a discount and to make their life easier by not having to dictate the entire note.

Thoughts...ideas???  TIA

not sure about Neer procedure, but this is a great site for samples...
http://www.mtsamples.com/index.asp

-----I have not personally checked all the reports here but the site seems reliable...

Did you try to Google Neer procedure/impingement, etc?
Does anyone know of a good site to find sample op/procedure reports
I have found very few sites that have sample op reports.  Anything would be appreciated.  Thanks
That's funny, I *love* ER's. Also Ops, procedure notes. Can't stand anything LONGGGGGGGG. n
.
Could you post the entire sentence? Is "parogy material" something used in the procedure or
something encountered during the procedure?
Ridiculous. It's not a medication or a procedure she's questioning. This is a moral issue.
She is way out of line to question transcribing that. You're comparing apples to oranges.
Per Quick Look, it is

No. There is no quick fix. (nt)

NEED HELP QUICK.....
I had to unplug my Infinity foot pedal from its USB port today and now my computer will not recognize it.  I had this problem once before and I cannot remember how I fixed it.  Finally I have some work and now the pedal won't work.  HELP ME PLEASE.....thanks a lot.
I only use the Quick Look because...
the company bought it for me.  I like it but it's gettin' old (2005) and missing a lot of new drugs.  I sure could use an update or something, so I'll be paying attention to the thread you've started here as well.
need help quick!
Suddenly my enter button is acting as a spacebar and not a return key!  What do I do?
quick look
I bought the new version and found that I liked the old 2005 version that I had, because of the wild card function in the search. The newer one didn't have it. I just reinstalled the old one and add any new drugs as I find them through my daily work. Unfortunately, it now has a glitch that keeps me from opening the information about the drug in the index without locking up. At first I would close and come back in so that it would show, but I discovered that it would also work if you go into the appendix screens (any) before doing a search or using the index list. I like using the drug reference because it clearly lists the dosages and uses for each drug, and is quick to use. Since my account doesn't use a lot of brand new drugs it works fine for me this way.
A quick ?

Hello everyone, I am new to this board and just have a really quick question that I would like someone to answer please. On the MT job openings page when you click on an opening and in the employers description of the job they say to reply to and email address and then they list the address. However each job opening has a "apply now" tab at the bottom. Doesn't it just email your resume when you click that and submit it? You don't also have to copy the employers email address and then sign into your email and send a message to them that way too do you? Thank you,

Travis

Quick question for you, please?

Thank you for your advice.  I just need to take it!!

But my question remains, perhaps I did overstep bounds by voicing my concerns for his depression and mentioning that his brother had also noticed it.  He says I have betrayed him.  What would you have done in this situation?

quick way to remember
Think of the Romans performing a play, like Julius Caesar....The ROMANS are on the STAGE.
Too quick on the buttons there.

Don't sign it.  It sounds as if they have a pending lawsuit and are trying to make sure no one else joins in.  If they call you about it, tell them you sent it over to your attorney to evaluate it.  LOL  It's NOT standard procedure.  You don't have to sign it.

The one I got had nothing to do with age discrimination, but it was a similar type of Hold Harmless document.

quick change tip

I haven't tried this yet (our office isn't on the one space thing.. yet), but I wrote down this tip that was posted last time this issue was brought up:  At the end of the report hit Ctr-Shft F, 2 spaces, tab, 1 space, Alta A to fix.  It should switch all your double spaces to single spaces without having to remember to change the way you've been typing for 20 years.

quick, where's the Dramamine!

Quick punctuation help!

I told him to clean the area with hydrogen peroxide, and, after that, he can apply the Neosporin ointment.

How would the punctuation be on this sentence?  Did I do it right?

Thanks in advance for the help..

Quick punctuation help! sm
Sorry, but it does not seem you received much help here. The truth is every typist has her own style. It seems that quite a few want to place a comma every time the doc pauses to take a breath or shifts a page. If that is what your own doc prefers, then go for it. Most do not, however.

Grammatically, you may use commas or not in this sentence, but none are necessary. It has been my own experience that doctors would rather have less rather than more in the case of commas. Believe it or not.

just a quick question. sm
You knew one of us would ask--you said so yourself.

First of all, I completely understand being stressed out and needing a vacation. But don't you think your kids deserve a vacation too? Teenagers generally have a huge amount of stress, and so can the younger ones. They probably need it as much as you do, and would definitely enjoy it. If you need some "me" time, there are almost always activities to do separately and most Florida hotels have a day camp type thing or daycare that's fun for them too, so you can still have some alone time.

I'm sorry, and I'll probably get blasted for saying it, but I generally think it's selfish to leave the kids out of something so cool. What did you tell them... "we get to go on this vacation because we're more special and deserve it more?"
Get to a Dr. ---my mom had this and it was CHF--it killed her quick-
get checked out.
