In Reply to: Unlimited long distance...I know this has been discussed before...but..sm - Worried!!
we pay $22/month for everything, call waiting, call answering, etc etc...calls free to anywhere in the world, except Western Europe, they just upgraded 911, and they actually lowered some prices for 2006...
this, of course, is all subject to change as the greedy gov no doubts wants its hand in the pie, but for now, no taxes. (we were paying over $15 A MONTH in just taxes with Verizon)...
anyway, you need a cable internet connection, so it only works as good as your upload speed (not download, you need fast upload). we have adelphia, which is not the best service, so we get some quality problems...
they are a company called Primus and have great support, etc. even just their land-based long distance is cheap.
just curious, doesn't your company reimburse you for long distance, or don't you dial into an 800 number? pardon me if I offend, because not sure if you work for a company or own your own business...
anway, lingo will not work unless you have the cable connection...
what about Skype? My son uses it and asked me to join, but I have not actually investigated it yet...
best of luck!

redneck lingo
If anyone wants to split a seam laughing, email me and tell me you want the REDNECK LINGO mp3 file from Jeff Foxworthy. I can zip it down to a little over 2 MB.
And don't worry ... I've got more viruses protection on this system than a squirrel has nuts hidden in the ground.
It takes a little while to get used to the lingo, sm
but you'll do fine. Just get in some practice before you start on production. BTW, I've noticed over the years that most of the work services get as "overflow" is ortho and OB/GYN.
Not hep to e-mail lingo.
Can anyone tell me what <G> means in an e-mail? Always wondered, but never asked til now, Thanks.
It isn't just this site. This is net lingo and used on every
site. I used to see people post on the word board and then end it with TIA. I thought they meant they were having a brain farct, but what it means in thanks in advance.
Don't get in a snit. It's internet lingo.
xx
i use lingo and love it! sm (long)
i gave up 2 landlines and now use lingo ($20/month) over highspeed cable; save lots of$$$! only downside i know of is that emergency 911 calls are handled differently, but lingo has a 911 call protocol. some people keep 1 landline just for that purpose, but I figure if there's a catastrophe the landlines will be down anyway. also, if your cable goes out you don't have phone service. my mobile phone is my backup for emergencies now. also, i suggest you lease the modem, not buy; that way if the company upgrades their system they upgrade your modem and you're not left behind with obsolete equipment...
Lingo that is who we use...VOiP, $22.95/month, six months already, no probs.
You might want to investigate further the post someone made about 2007 and VOiP. Seems the government is all hot and bothered because they need to tap phones and cannot do so with VOiP. They probably will end up taxing and surcharging eventually, as well, but for a while it can save you a lot of money...
