Unit secretary; office manager; insurance filer; medicolegal, legal, business transcriptionist; or coder (school required), but if we can do this, the coding may not be so far out of reach. Those are the ones that I notice mostly in conjunction with medical transcription in the ads. I'm sure that given our ability to work independently, research, and produce timely, clean reports, then someone will see our value in any number of fields. I'm a newbie, and I'm finding that I'm learning much about MS Word that I didn't use until working as an MT. I'm sure this will come in handy in other areas, too.

with much talk about changing jobs due to the challenges facing the MT field, what are people managing to do successfully? And let's leave the opinions about the future of MT out of the conversation, shall we, and just limit it to some ideas of what people COULD do if they wanted to change?
