it's very drying to the skin, and I can't imagine

making my puppy or dog uncomfortable with dry skin.

Just try it, wash your hair or body in DAWN soap and you will be itching like crazy. It dries your hair out horribly, leaving you with flyaway frizzy hair. But talk about itching, OUCH AND UNCOMFORTABLE.

Sorry, but that's just how I feel.

Not drying up...sm
If it is drying up, then I am a fool for still sitting here working 12-16 hours days and still have accounts with an abundance of work, so I would have to go on the side of there is still pleny of work out there to be had!

Possibly if you only had the one account, you might consider having a couple...this allows for work more of the time. I have multiple accounts I work on every day, work harder where the most work is. A couple have daily lines to hit, other are just work and keep up on TAT, so rarely do I have a day where I cannot keep busy for 8+ hours. All of this but one account is clinic work, all in different states...so not even working in any one corner of the US, but across it.

Also, are you trying to stay local, as could not help you there as I have always avoided that one. Do not need to be running every day with gas prices. I want to sit and work, not play office games...one of the reasons I LEFT the offices, so I go nationally for small accounts and keep enough that I am busy each and every day even if one or two accounts would not load or be closed for any reason.
Is our profession drying up?

I'm an independent contractor and have just lost an orthopaedic clinic account to EMR.  Also, I've been sending out hundreds of letters for new accounts, and I'm hearing nothing back!

Is our profession (clinic work) drying up?  This is getting very scary!

Could someone either (1) comfort me with "it's not true" news and there's more than enough clinic work out there to go around, or if you find that it is, indeed, drying up, write back and tell me of your experience.

Thank you `` Nancy in Alpharetta, Georgia

Skin infection
What kind of skin infection? I have had good luck with Betadine for certain things.
Look and see if there is a type 2 skin? nm

skin types
It does depend on the skin type and the type of laser machine they used. Many of them do not do darker skin. They all do tend to work better on lighter skins. I have dark hair due to a hormone imbalance my whole life since childhood. Dark hair on my arms, etc. Some laser brands of machine are better than others. Let me know if you decide you want information on the one I work for or I can give you the name of the top selling laser brand out there that I would recommend from what I know.
skin care
I was hooked on Almay skin products (one reason because they have no scent) until about 6 years ago and discovered jafra.  It is SO awesome.  i use the day cream, night cream, and cleansing cream.  My friends always remark on my skin being so soft and clear (and I'm 55 !). I can't stand to ever be dry!  Have lotion on my desk, night stand, etc.
skin care
I used Mary Kay for all my skin care/makeup, although for just a natural look I do use the Bare Minerals foundation sometimes.

My cocker spaniel has a skin condition.
Her claws are brittle and long, her paw pads are thickened, she's itchy and smelly, and she has dead skin cells built up in the same areas you described.  We did the antibiotics, steroids, allergy meds, and everything else without good results.  I put a stop to it when the vet wanted to do $1,000 worth of tests and biopsies.  (And switched vets!)  The first vet called it allergies, seborrhea, keratinitis, and a bunch of other guesses.  She also has mattery eyes and frequent ear infections.  We rescued her from the pound 10 years ago, so she's an old girl.  I have to keep her shaved and wash her with either a prescription shampoo or Neutrogena T-gel.
skin care products and allergies

I used another product that is sold on QVC by a lady doctor in September.  Overnight I developed a horrible burn on my face that nearly closed both eyes.  My skin was so red under my eyes that I looked like I had two black eyes.  I believe it was a chemical burn caused by some ingredient in that product.  It is now December 12, and I still suffer from a burning sensation and very red cheeks and sensitive eyes.  I have not used this product since that first episode, but I have used other products from other companies, with the same result.  I believe most of the upscale cosmetic and skin care products must contain the same ingredient that is too harsh for sensitive skin (obviously) and that may cause an allergic reaction.

I used bad judgment in not seeing a doctor with the first episode, thinking it would just go away.  Well it does go away and cycles and recycles again and again, with the same results.   I am not going through another cycle, and it is at the stage of just returning.  It will get increasingly worse over the next two or three days and then start to subside, leaving my skin feeling like leather, peeling slightly under my eyes.  I have bags under my eyes that I never had before.

I guess sooner or later I'll just get sick of all this and finally get a referral to a dermatologist before I suffer permanent, irreversible damage, if that has not already occurred.

I believe perhaps the ingredient is either salicylic, glycolic, or  lactic acid, which seems to be the hot ingredient in skin care these days.  I've used retinol products in the past without a problem, but I guess we can all develop allergies to anything.  I've also used glycolic acid cleansers in the past without a problem.  Again, allergies can certainly crop up in anything.

Incidentally, I have a friend who used Avon night cream recently who woke up with a face full of pimples, too!

excess skin after weight loss
Did you then have surgery to remove the sagging skin? I need to lose 140 lbs, which I have packed on over the past 20 years. I never weighed over 112 lbs. or wore larger than a size 3 (!!) until I turned 30. My lifestyle changed (not for the better) at that point, and I basically lose interest in how I looked. Now, at age 51, my health is seriously in trouble due to my obesity. What am I going to do with all the excess skin? I already have a big fat pouch under my waist, and above my waist I look like I'm 7 months pregnant! Are there any health insurance plans that will pay for surgery to remove the leftover skin? I see people on Dr. 90210 having the surgery, but I bet they have to pay out of pocket and I bet it's tens of thousands of dollars.
sagging skin after weight loss
Thanks for much the info about plastic surgery. I guess the only way to look at it is this: My health and life are in danger if I don't take this weight off. Whether or not I'm left with skin hanging down to my ankles (I hope I'm exaggerating!), at least I'll be alive and have more energy and flexibility. Guess I should cross one bridge at a time. :) I've decided to start Michael Thurmond's Lifestyle Change course. Ordered the whole kit from HSN (or maybe QVC), and truly think I can do it. Have never tried any diets in the past. Was in denial about my weight for the longest time...kept thinking it was a "phase." Ha-ha! You know how formerly anorectic people still think of themselves as fat? Well, I'm an stress-overeater in denial, and I still think of myself as thin...until I see myself in the mirror. Yikes!
So far, not much loose skin, but you do need to do toning exercises
and work out with weights to help prevent that.

oh geez, that just makes my skin crawl
and NO I hate snakes... don't like spiders either, but easier to kill.. I of course being the one that cannot stand the things, found one in my basement either last year or the year before, which dh went around and insulated, boarded up around the ceiling down there.. well, where he thought they might could get in.. ewww, just gives me chills .. have you got somewhere you can go until your hubby gets home?? Thank God mine was home that day, I have wondered what in the world would I do if I come across one & him not here?? shutter to think.. hope it is out or something else preferably that made the noise

John T is a great disappointment to me. He is bloated and looks like he is about to pop with skin s
A poster below said John T looks like he swallowed the original lean and mean handsome John from Urban Cowboy days. I agree. But it could be worse. He could be bald I guess. Back in the day I could watch his movies over and over especially Saturday Night Fever and Urban Cowboy. Now it's just sad. He seems a characture of his former self. Kind of on his way to Marlon Brando state of aging.
I must be weird, but he makes my skin crawl, right along with G. Clooney.

Guess it depends on how porous his skin is-- try cold cream maybe? - sm
My kids have done all sorts of stuff, usually the face cleans up except for red in my experience...fades over a week or so. But cold cream is good for make up so maybe it will work, if you don't have any handy maybe a thick moisturizer? Obviously the hands are not an issue since they won't be in the picture, you can always try a liquid make-up if it doesn't come off and if the make up does not look weird. Good luck.....you can always keep him home or arrange for him to do the make-up picture for kids who are sick...they always have a make up picture day...find out when it is and just do it then.
I dunno. I sure do miss my Selectric and those onion-skin copies. nm

Gosh, there are a thousand possibilities. ?and no doctor has offered to do a skin scraping

arms?  Is it in groin areas or creases of knees or something?  Has he got a low-grade fever?  Does he have headaches?

Just having it on his eyes sounds like another thing that is going on here.  Except people are just having their FEET AND ANKLES TURN RED AND FEVERISH...looks like gout, but it is actually a problem with some reaction the thyroid or parathyroid is having to something.  Very strange but folks here are having it like crazy -- and with it are a lot of muscle cramping.  Isn't it odd that the feet would be affected by the thyroid or parathyoid.>?

So, I could see where something you'd never think could be affecting just his arms.  Tell us more.

Imagine that!!
My DH just got a promotion at work.  It is a pretty big promotion.  He sat down and talked to me and told me how happy he is to have me at home working, because he feels he is where he is because I pick up so much of the slack with the kids, etc. and he gets to focus on his career.  For a while I was considering getting out of the business (major burnout), but now I'm here to stay!!!  He told me now that he is making more, not to worry about working so hard -- take some more time off for myself!!!  Am I lucky or what!!!!
Imagine that.....
You are blessed with a great fella! And, indeed, you are a lucky lady. Something tells me that you deserve this, however. :) Enjoy!
Imagine this...
You are in charge of let's say 50 MTs... and they all want to chit chat. I don't think that would make a very productive supervisor.

Does it bother you when you are working and someone, either in your home on on the phone, wants to chit chat?

With all the changes and consolidating offices, I'm sure the supervisors have more than their share of stressors. Just look at the supervisor turnovers we all speak of. They need to do their jobs as efficiently as possible and being chummy with MTs is counterproductive to that end.

I'm not saying they should shrug off any pertinent MT problem that has to do with work by any means, but if work-related conversation evolves into anything else, I can see why the supervisor would want to get off the phone.

I've had about 4 supervisors since being with MQ, 3 within the last 6 months, and I correspond by email mainly. I find that much more efficient, but when I return their calls, they are very helpful and nice. I am a talker so I avoid the phone at all costs because that would totally take away from work time or fun time ;-)

And I'm just wondering... what kind of favors?
I can't imagine
They generally schedule 1 patient every 15 minutes to make up for those who don't show. With outsourcing they still have to dictate so I don't see how that would let them see more.
I can't imagine...sm
My highest day ever was 2600 lines and I couldn't sleep that night, my hands were so painful. I rarely do more than 2100 lines in a day because my hands just can't handle more than that.

I do yoga and work out by walking three miles daily, and if it weren't for that, I don't think I could do this for a living because its murder on the hands. And I'm only 42 years old.

I dont know how you do it. Kudos to you!

Can you imagine Taylor's reaction if (when, fingers crossed) he wins?  He seems to appreciate everything so much.  Vote, vote, vote!!!!
I cannot imagine
I cannot imagine my reports still having to be checked after two months, I have never gone more than two DAYS before being released from QA.  Are you SURE you are not making legit errors?  If you truly believe that your reports are 100% accurate, then I agree with the previous poster - you need to look elsewhere for employment.

Someone has a job that consists of constanly making changes. I guess that requires a Master of Arts in Changology degree.

inserts a period, spaces appropriately, and capitalizes the first letter of the next sentence.

If you are not familiar with VBE, the easiest way to create a your new macro will probably be to type a few sentences without punctuation in a Word doc. Place your typing cursor at the end of the first sentence. Go to create new macro, name it, and assign the shortcut keys you would like to use. The macro recorder should then show on your screen.

Insert a period at the end of the first sentence and space the appropriate number of spaces. Then capitalize the first letter of the next sentence. Turn off the macro recorder. Go to the end of the next sentence and try the assigned shortcut keys.

If they require you to do these during your normal work hours so you are losing money to attend the training/conference, etc. Heck even if you do it outside of work hours, you are giving up your free time to do it and thus should be paid IMO.

I was curious to see if most of the companies do pay, as mine doesn't and it really steams me.

Just imagine-- no worries
I would love to wake up every morning and have no worries about gas prices going up even higher, whether or not I can afford my utility bill, whether or not I as a single woman will be able to find someone to help me with heavy work and things I can't do by myself, etc.  No matter what state of chaos the world is in, they just go on about their daily routine, just like they always have.  They also help each other-- what a novel idea.  Their lifestyle is sounding better all the time-- a big plus for me is that I already have a horse.
Same here!! They get so nutz on here. Could you imagine
what it would like to put all these same women in the same room? It could go one of 2 ways..sweet as pie to one another OR .......AAAH!! Oops i think i splt thgs rihgt up three!! LOL
I just can't imagine what these people are going through.
I watched a CNN clip on the net this morning and can't stop crying.   I'm going to try to pull it together and work a bit extra today so that I can have extra $$ to send to the Red Cross and I'm going to pray a lot.
Very original!! Can only imagine what it would be

else (despite all it's faults).
Imagine. And I really liked your posts.

Sorry to see you go. I must admit I was shocked at some of the stuff that was thrown at you in this female dominated environment.

So sorry to hear about your uncle. I'm very close to my uncles (my mom's brother and brother-in-law). Just lost my mom in April. It's been really rough on all of us.

I actually heard Ringo across the airwaves in our teeny tiny local supermarket today. I'm pushing my cart and singing, "Let me help, if your child needs a daddy, let me help. . . ." :)

I asked the fresh faced clerk if she knew who it was singing and she rolled her eyes and said, "I have no idea."

I did tell her that it was Ringo Starr, one of the last 2 remaining Beatles and though she obviously was not the least bit interested, the woman behind me said, "You got that right! These kids need to take music appreciation classes."

God we're getting old. :)

For what it is worth, we have 2-year-old twin granddaughters and their favorite song is "Love Me Do."

My husband and I married with matching Lennon rings engraved with "Imagine" and he does the candle thing every year on the anniversary of John's death. This year was hard, marking #25.

All John was saying, was give peace a chance.

Too bad about the people on this board that will never see beyond the scope of their own insecurities.

Godspeed RadGuy.

Peace!

I can't imagine why my note
has all of these hits, especially since it wasn't a general question and had nothing to do with transcription. Must have been a slow work day :)
I couldn't imagine.....
...holding the baby while typing. I have 15-month-old twins and THANKFULLY neither gave me that problem. I think if they had I probably would have tried every different toy bar for the bouncy seat or swing until something worked. Something comfy for her to lay against maybe. If nothing works and you can't manage typing and holding her then adjusting your schedule for when your husband is there would be my only thought. Good luck. Mine are giving me CLIMBING issues at the moment, oh brother!!!!!
