make sure you realize that some companies (Shell is really really bad to do this) will reserve extra funds on your debit card until the transaction completes and releases those funds 24-72 hours later. With Shell, it is $75 over your purchase. I nearly fainted when I realized what was happening. You can go on MSN Money and find a few articles on this -- gas companies reserving funds on your debit card.

When your boss gives you your paycheck, do they ask what are you going to do with that money? Didnt think so. Same thing for the people of the gulf coast. They lost their jobs, their homes. The money they will be given will be in lieu of a paycheck till they can find another job and home. Its a paycheck from the govt.

I know the credit card companies charge the place of business a fee or percentage when you use your credit card but does anyone know if it costs them every time you use a debit card, does the business pay a fee? Our apartment complex just offered the option of automatic checking account deduction because they said it costs them less than credit/debit.

Usually my purchases show up right away, unless its a holiday weekend and I use the debit card like a credit card instead; then its usually the next business day before those purchases show up. However, if I use it like a regular debit card, holiday or not the purchases show right away.
Just got a debit card this week, trying to
get away from credit cards and be more responsible with $$ and out of debt. There was a pamphlet in with the card that gave a list of when to use credit and when to use debit and pretty much 99% of the time they suggested using credit. The biggest pro to using credit is that if there is a dispute over a purchase you can get the charged credited, at least temporarily, but not with a debit - at least that is what the pamphlet led me to believe. Not a usual occurrence, though nice to have that protection.
Paypal debit card
We have a Paypal debit card that we can use just like any other check card/debit card. It just draws from the funds from your Paypal account. You can use it at the store, etc., and at the ATM. Even paying an ATM fee to get out cash would be less than the $10 charge to transfer. You might check on it.
First, a prepaired debit card is not attached to your bank at all. SM
It is a separate account set up for use with your prepaid debit card only. No checks. No bank. And with the prepaid card, they cannot withdraw money without your prior authorization. Your employer can only deposit money if your employer provides a signed DD form with your signature on it.
I've never had any problems with my card. I feel pretty secure. I do pay bills with my card, but rather than authorize a recurring monthly charge (which you can do), I opt to manually get on the money card website and pay each bill, each month. So consider this. Once you authorize a recurring bill payment, it sometimes takes an act of God to stop it.
I always use my debit card (with visa symbol) for online purchases, never a problem. nm

debit cards
 do they automatically take the money out of your account the second you use it. I looked at my account online and it is very low. DH has been using the DC and it has not shown any of the transactions dh made this weekend. Just wandering if it had already took those out but hasn't shown it yet on-line or are we going to be bumbarded tomorrow. If dh don't get his paycheck in Wed and quick me may be in trouble
I use debit cards and keep the receipts on the
desk until the item has cleared the bank. I check the accounts online EVERY morning and balance each while I am waiting for DQS to load. Once a check or debit clears I toss it.
This way mistakes (mine or others') can be caught before they become disasters, any by knowing exactly what the balance is I know what I can afford to spend that day.
Debit cards with logos on them
Where do you get debit cards from with the Visa or Master Card logo on them? My bank only gives out a Star Debit Card without any logos on it.

Has anyone disconnected the internal sound card and replace with another sound card?
I am having problems with my sound on one of my computers. Several different ExText program have been on it so I don't think it is the program and the sound is just now as clear as on my other computer. Has anyone switched (disconnected the internal sound care and replaced) to a new sound card? Did it make a difference.

I got a Brother fax machine several years ago at Office Depot for around $80 or so. I later got an HP all-in-one in 2005 at Sam's. I don't remember what it cost, but it's worth it if you'll be faxing regularly. Some of your clients may prefer a scanned version.
You could also compare on-line fax capabilities, which seems to be more current, for obvious reasons. I can't remember the details, but I've heard it advertised on talk radio.
Just a thought, especially if you'll be doing this regularly. Places like the UPS Store, etc. charge a good bit to fax, not to mention the inconvenience of leaving the house to do it.

Help! I am trying to get started transcribing at home and I have work to do but I need advice on what type of transcribing phone to purchase. I have been instructed by my current employer to by a cphone that dials into an automated system to retreive my work. Please, any advice or if anyone has one for sale. It is normal to have to purchase your own
provide the PC. Some will provide the foot pedal if you do not have what is required. Some companies give you the option of renting their equipment. It all depends on the company, but yes you will have to have your own resource books.
Anything you purchase for your transcription
You might want to check out some of the earlier posts here as the tax issues have been discussed. You would probably gain information in that respect. Also, you might want to have an accountant/tax preparer for your first year. Some say, you can copy the next year from that first year, but I personally believe in having my taxes prepared for me as these guys are up on things, ya' know. Most definitely though you will want to get your own freestanding PC because down the road you may want to gain some of your own accounts, so you will need that. You will be fine. Some of these people act like you out to take their job or something??? Go figure. There is always one bad apple in the bunch, right? I learned that in grade school. Best wishes in your endeavors....

No credit card is a good credit card.
Just kidding. I'd suggest not using credit cards to pay debts. It'll only dig you in deeper. Look into a signature loan or putting a lien against a vehicle or house. Lower interest rate, pay off sooner.
An alternative would be to purchase and download
a product called Phone Tools by BVRP. It functions as both a fax and answering machine. I've been using it for >5 years now and have never had any problems.

I've never ordered any of my pets' meds online but my friend has. One of her dogs was found to have heart worms and the guarantee was not honored because the product was purchased from a website which does not guarantee its products. from Stedman's. The title is "The CMT Reveiw Guide." This book was just released last year (2005) and was developed for the current version of the CMT exam. You might also want to consider a CMT Study Group. Contact the nearest chapter of AAMT as they do have CMT Study Groups. I know that the Online Chapter of AAMT is about to start a study group that will complete in time to take the CMT in the end of July/begining of August. buy the CD. If you purchase the version that is already loaded on your computer you will never be able to recover that software should your system fail or something happen to your hard drive. If you purchase the CD, you can use that copy on something like three or five computers at your home, and you can reinstall a number of times. Once you run out of installs, you will have to call Microsoft for a new verification number, but if you tell them you only have it on X number of computers at home and you had a bad hard drive, they will give you the verification number so that you can reinstall the program. Otherwise, if you purchase the software from the download that came with your computer, you will not be able to do this - it will be a one-time install only. Ask me how I know *_*
