if you are working in a platform..sm

saving autotext or macros probably will not work. It does not work in mine when I am on my company's platform either. If I need to enter an autotext entry or a macro, I have to sign out of my platform, enter the autotext in word or the macro, and it will save to normal.dot. When I go back into my platform, the autotex and macros are still not there. I have to do the above, and reboot the computer first. then when I go into my company's platform and want to use the entered autotext or macros, it is then there and stays there. Tech support for these platforms cannot help either. it is a conflict between word and the platform and as far as I know, there is no "cure" for it. We were actually told about a year ago that if we try to enter a macro while in the platform, it would actually crash the program and corrupt the normal.dot file, and I can attest to that, because it happened to me and THEN they told me that. I do all of my entries when outside of the platform and then reboot. So mostly if I want to enter any thing new, I wait until I am finished working for the day, do the entries, and then shut down for the night. They will be there in the morning. Doing this has never failed me. give it a shot! good luck.

Are you working in a platform? sm
Once you set that option you shouldn't have to ever set it again. A Word-based platform can do this, though.
MQrs, how many of you are working on different platform than DQS?
The MQ was to have most accounts switched to DQS for uniform billing as well as sharing work between offices. I just wonder how close to the goal MQ is on this. If you are working on another platform, which office are you working out of.
One week of working on a new platform and I do not feel it is user-friendly
Editing itself is not bad. It is the documentation of the changes I made, I think for purposes of feedback to MT, which I have to do on Word (outside of the platform) that is driving me crazy and is eating up a lot of time. I do not think I am being productive. I am paid an hourly rate but I am almost embarrassed with my production. I think doing QA without going the through the MTing using the same platform presents a lot of difficulty. Is it too early to decide whether this is a good fit for me?
MTSO with platform versus no platform (big message)
If a MTSO advertises that the MT works in MS Word and sends dictation by FTP, does this usually mean there will be no demographic/doctor database and the demographics will not be autopopulated?
I got into a mess with a small company (got out real quickly too). I was required to print out daily email copies of the doctors' office patient schedules (which were barely legible) and type in all information. I spent more time hunting for the correct patient through pages and pages of these schedules. Then I had about 25 pages worth of doctor's names that I would have to go through to find the attending, referring, etc. A total waste of time as I didn’t get paid for that.
I wish MTSO would give more information as to what platform they use (if any). Proprietary software is such a generic, totally useless description. Would they buy a new car that listed, "Car has gasoline operated motor?"
And for Pete's sakes, why so secretive about the pay? Give a ballpark figure. Just say, pay is between 7-12 cpl depending on skill, testing, etc. Tell me if you pay for spaces, headers, etc. It would save them time because I wouldn’t even apply for a 7 cpl job.
Before I spend an hour or two testing, I need more information from a company to be sure it is compatible for my needs. If the MTSO would spend a little time on their website detailing their platform, how they send/receive files, pay rates, how line rate is determined (spaces/no spaces) employee/IC/SE status, minimal line count, whether work pools consist of 100s of doctors, or smaller pools with 25-50 doctors etc. Having all this information on their website would save them time and the MTs time. Phoenix Medcom has a really good layout describing pretty much everything an MT would want to know before testing with them. I am just tired of testing with a company and then finding out the job wasn’t exactly suited to my needs.
Platform versus non-platform (templates)?
I've been working for MTSOs for years now, using their templates which sometimes cause productivity problems (macro issues, etc). I'm wondering if productivity is increased when working on a structured platform, such as one that a national company provides for its transcriptionists? I've never used a platform, but it would seem that all one needs to do is straight type onto the screen and the platform program takes care of margins, page breaks, etc?
Any thoughts (as well as companies who are hiring who use platforms) would be appreciated. Thanks
You get more working the evening or night shifts and working w/o benefits. And producing like a mad
,
Ditto....granted I am not working much these days, but am currently trying out a new way of working
when I do work which seems to be helping. I am timing myself and keeping a log of how long it takes to to type however many minutes. I am averaging anywhere from 13-18 minutes of dictation an hour now doing this. Granted the time fluctuates between who I am typing, and if I have to look up names, addresses, etc., just depends on the division I am doing at the time. But work that used to take me 3 hours to do is now taking me under 2 hours, I am also trying to put in more macros as I go along, which slows me down initially but pays off in the long run of course. I was working "all the time" before but took forever to get done since I was not applying myself. This new "attitude" has helped me a lot. My goal, in the Fall, is to do 90 minutes a day consistently at 6 hours, and then maybe get up to 120 minutes a day at 8 hours, still while having at least half of the day free (do 60 minutes at night, and the other 60 by Noon). Thereby doing 1200-1400 lines a day. I have never really buckled down and done more than 8000 lines per pay period, so it will be a nice change. Maybe you can do something like that and have a specific knock off time as was suggested below.
Working holidays? Out shopping in stores where someone IS working
that holiday you refuse to work? Grocery stores, food joints & seems any store is open on holidays and you expect them to be fully staffed, so why shouldn't we?
Yes, I took off for the first time on Christmas day, in 18 years and it was great, but I worked Christmas eve and this whole past weekend.
Someone has to do it!
working IN A HOSPITAL is different than working at home.
Someone can steal you identity from the internet if they want to. Why would you go to the time and trouble to jeopardize a job that requires some level of skill to steal someone's identity or medical records? You could get a job as a retail clerk and get info easier than going through the testing required to become an MT.
Somehow working at home translates into not really working
My in-laws are the worst. Whenever they plan something last minute and my husband says that I had to work, they say, "but she works at home!". When I one time mentioned I had a "schedule" and basically punch a clock and work full time, I don't think they believed me. They will sometimes call mid-day during the week if they are in the area to see if I want to go for lunch, etc! The best is, my husband doesn't make all that much money, so where is it coming from, the money fairy? I am ready to strangle someone! So I know how you feel and I'm sorry it upset you. You are not alone.
I daydream about NOT working while I'm working.
There are so many other things I need and want to get done. I've been working way too hard lately, and summer is just slipping by again. Well, I'm outty.
platform?
on my platform you can do a control/+ (the one near the backspace) to enlarge the text...
What platform do you use?
I am bored, and trying to get aquanited to the boards, so I am posting a little spree here.
What platform do you use? I use Extext by Dictaphone. Like it so far.
How can they tell? Which platform?
Besides, it's not canned text. LOL That's a feature in Meditech. If you use an expander, it's an "expansion". Those are two different things there. Isn't it open to interpretation? If I were in your shoes, I'd download the trial version of ShortHand just to see if it worked and to see if they could detect it. It's asinine to not be able to use expanders. Why wouldn't the company want the work done faster and potentially more accurately? I know there are some really long words that I have to stop to remember how to spell, so those are in my expander.
WOW!! Do you really think that? Platform is what
is used to type. You must be new to the biz. Also you cannot work for Amphion. You would know if you did.
Different platform
I'm w/ Baltimore office, still working on INET. Hearing that won't be for long, not many accounts left on it.
EP-1 Platform
Can anyone tell me about the EP-1 platform for spheris?
what platform is it that they use?
was it easy to learn?
New platform?
Perhaps the platforms should offer grammar checks as well then.......hmmmmm. UH OH, perhaps we just opened up a can of worms!
What platform are you?
Sounds like you have ideas worth sharing with whomever designed the platform.
MDI-FL has a platform
I worked for them earlier this year. I now cannot remember the name of it. It seems like something that would have been used in the 70s or 80s. I don't know if they use it on all of their accounts, but I had a very hard time with it. It took too long to search for the patient and MD data...it also froze up on me many times and I would have to restart my computer which caused me to lose all lines I had typed. I absolutely hated it. Horrible spell checker.
I now work for Sten-Tel who has a 'word' based internet platform called EditScript which is a breeze. I love it and have never had any problems with it.
New Platform...SM
I started on a new platform about two weeks ago and am finding it HORRIBLE!
I normally get between 130-170 lph, depending on dictators. Today I worked four hours and had 200 lines
It is a word-based platform. To put in a QA marker you put in spaces, highlight them change screens, use the mouse (no shortcut keys) click add, save, and then back to your screen. To remove a QA marker, you have to change screens, use mouse click on QA marker number, and then click delete... You also have to do this to look up or edit doctors, patient info...
In all honesty from anyone who has worked on such a platform, WILL I GET FAST ENOUGH TO KEEP MY CHILDREN FROM STARVING?
Thanks in advance
new platform
what's the name of the platform?
MTS platform
Does anyone know who uses MTs platform?
What is the platform like??
I get paid hourly ($15), so the platform doesn't really matter that much. Would you mind telling me about how much that rounds out to an hour? Just wondering if I'm making the right amount or if I should look elsewhere. Thanks.
is a platform...
i using express scribe and have been reading here about platforms, is express scribe considered a platform? I have did MT for over ten years in an office setting but this is my 1st at home position and am unfamiliar with the platform. In the office setting we only used microcassettes and typed verbatim. So please forgive my ignorance in this realm. Would someone be willing to explain or give an example. I would appreciate it. I like to be knowledgable in the aspects of mt and feel you're never too old to be knowledgable. Thanks!!
Platform
Is anyone familiar with a platform called Medquist Cquence? The service I work for has a client who uses this. I am having a particularly difficult time learning this system. Would you care to share what you think of it. Is it worth the time spent in learning it, and once you do learn it, do you get a decent line count?
TIA
Anyone know MD-IT's platform?

Do you know what the platform is? nm

Platform...
Platforms are simply the different software that companies use to transcribe and edit their documents. Each company has their own "platform."
Platform that will allow you to do this
We have a platform that allows you to do this. The platform allows you to type and then it sends the completed report to an ASP platform that the users will have their own logins and can access any report via a secure site on the internet. If you want more information, please email me at amy.newton@medcoretech.com. We only charge per line, no setup fees, no monthly minumums. We have tons of MTSOs and clients that use our system. I hope that helps. Thanks,
MTS Platform
Is Express Scribe better than Transcription Gear or Bytescribe - even though you have to pay. And how about ExText - can that be purchased?
What platform is it if you use your
own computer? Do they have editscript or anything like it? Do you know what the line rates basically run and how good the incentives are? Is the work steady? I'm just looking for a good decent place to work that won't cheat me or make it almost impossible to actually make any lines. All information appreciated.
Platform
I just do not like that platform. I will never work on it ever again if at all possible. It is horrible. Good luck finding an MT that does like it.
Which is better platform????
I have been offered a job with a company that uses EMDAT/Inscribe and also offered a job at DeVenture who uses the SHINE platform? Are they both terrible, or is one better than the other? Would like to hear your opinion, please. Thank you.
Platform
Try looking at the InfraWare ASP. It's very user friendly and easy to market.
platform
I have used Dictaphone when I was working for a smaller company and did like it, but now I am out on my own and have an office that uses Word and a wav pedal and I email the work to them. I like this way too. I have heard that people do like Dictaphone as a platform, but I am unsure of the cost.. I use Express scribe to download the files and my wav pedal. Express scribe is free so I do like that there is no cost to me on that end.
What platform do you use?
I can't see who's working, can't see how much work there is, just keep going until I run out.
No platform
Simply typing in Word in a running document. No time for all the saving of individual files, special headers/footers, etc....too time consuming.
more than one platform
Right now I have four different platforms on my computer with no problems.
Platform
WebchartMD by far the best with the best support above and beyond you will love them!
The best platform to me was
NO platform. The easiest, fastest lines for me were back when we just used MS Word or WP51 and FTP.
don't know if this is a platform
But definitely WP51 for DOS which I still use. When i have tried the new technology, i have lost SIGNIFICANT amounts of money....
Best platform...
I use VoiceScribe with MS Word, and I really like it.
What platform do you use?
I cannot see the amount of work in any of my accounts at any time. I get the next available job. I guess not knowing who gets what alleviates a lot of headache.
platform
I have six accounts. I know the order they are in my queue. I do not know how much work is in any of them at any time. Some days I never get past the first account. When I finish 1 job the next one automatically pops up and I do whatever comes up for whatever account. It is quick and easy, no muss, no fuss.
I also do not know who is working or how many people work on any of the same accounts I'm on. Since I've been working at home (12 years), I have never had access or known how many people have thrown back a job before I've gotten it. I just do what comes to me and move on.
we don't know what platform
you are working on so it's hard to say. It does sound like Spheris though! When I worked there, to get around between the editing screen and the other screens (where you add patient information, add a cc, etc) I did not use the mouse. I used the function keys, and I reassigned the function keys (in Shorthand) to keys I thought were not as awkward. On the patient information screen I used tab and alt tab to move between fields. But your platform might be different.
Tell me what platform
you are using. Some are better than others.
I use the same platform
and I do love Escription. From what I have heard, it seems to be 1 if not the best. I make 4 cents a line on VR but I also have some straight mixed in with the VR. It might be you are not up to speed with what you will be able to do because it is new to you and takes awhile to get there. I did straight for so many years and now don’t care if I see another straight typed report.
my platform
Did you mean MTs? About 75 to 100 on the VR platform and accounts I work on but the company has other types on other accounts.
Dox Platform anyone?
Hello. I'm interested in finding out if anyone has worked on the Dox platform? If so, what are your thoughts and any tips on increasing productivity? Thanks much!
