I have used Wildblue since September and really like it. In my opinion, it is well worth the money.

I know someone who just got it and says when it's stormy out, it always goes off. I was supposed to get it where I live but decided to go with wireless instead (I live on a farm where nothing else is available except for dumb ol' dial-up...been there, done that). That's all I have heard about Wildblue.

I personally do not use them, but I have several family members who live in rural areas and they have used them for a couple of years without a problem as far as I have heard. They were just thrilled to finally have access to DSL and as far as I know, they are reliable. Have never heard them voice any complaints. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I've had WildBlue for several months and love it. It does go out when it's stormy, but stays on longer than my neighbor's DirecWay. I do have problems with certain VPNs, but I've been told that's a satellite issue - not a WildBlue issue.

and if so do you like it? Is it reliable, etc.? I only have dial-up where I am (nothing else is available) and just started a new job and without DSL or cable it is very difficult to make any money. So as satellite is my only option and I have heard that HughesNet stinks, I found this option through Directv and is available in my area, and half the price of HughesNet to boot. So putting out feelers to those of you that may have this service. TIA.

How far are the trees away from your house? I have some trees to the south too but probably 500+ away. I had considered getting Wildblue. I'm stuck with dialup too and have lost accounts because I can't get high speed. It really limits things, but on the other hand a lot of companies don't allow satellite and I hate to invest that much money and then not be able to use it to work.

they are cheaper than directwav but i know sometimes you get what you pay for too so i am wondering if anyone out there is using it or has in the past and what you thought about it?

I just signed up for WildBlue thru Directv- sm
There have been no complaints on the board with regards to them; I will know in a few days they come out Saturday to install it. Cannot wait; my modem has been acting nuts in this heat. I believe WildBlue is cheapter than HughesNet too - it was $249 for the equipment (think HughesNet is $600, or at least it used to be)-- got the $70 a month package (they have $50, 70 and 80 I think)--higher the price the faster the connection in theory. At the rate I am going anything would be better.
VR work & Hughesnet or WildBlue
I am looking into Hughesnet or Wildblue satellite to use with VR work. Does anyone use either for VR work and do they work well together? Thanks

especially if you will be going through VPN, it won't be very productive for you cuz the VPN slows down the download rates. i am connected at 100 mbps but that is nothing. download rates are extremely slow, sometimes as slow as dial up.
Horrible experience with Wildblue ~ I would recommend Hughes sm
over Wildblue. I use AT&T wireless, much cheaper start up, about the same monthly, and much more reliable. If it will not work with wireless, I doubt it will work well with Satelite either.

They can send an email that goes to all MTs in one shot. I think she just means a courtesy email
would be nice. MQ is not getting any easier. My account has been picked over thoroughly when it went on DQS by ASR and I get all the remains because they only have a core group doing ASR which I think is wrong because you get all the bad dictators and it would be nice to be acknowledged that at least you know the person you can discuss problems with as they crop up. This is a big one and we have no manager anymore and no one to discuss this with at all in my office so you just sit here very day doing this work and no way to vent to someone that could offer some suggestions on this and other issues that come up to help relieve some of the stress of working this way.

The only way they would know what your email address is, is if you reply to the email they send you. i was on wildblue. i absolutely HATED it. i paid $400 for install and equipment and bill was $51.51 a month for smallest plan. no bills, had to be direct debit from credit card or bank. wasn't a lot faster than dial up and i frequently went over my download limit so i had to upgrade to the $80/mo plan. speed was no faster on their "fastest plan". they had a 1-yr contract and only 1-yr warranty. well 20 days (kid you not) out of warranty my tria (the eye on the dish) went out and it cost me a total of $275 for replacement and tech call (had to wait a week and a half before tech could come and then he no showed and rescheduled for the next day stating he didn't have the equipment he needed to fix me and the repair order had been in for over a week by that time. no call to say he wasn't coming either, just no showed). they TRIED to sell me the entire package all over again to get me locked into another 1-yr contract and i declined. it was best in their book so your warranty and equipment would be "new". i had to tell them for 5 months to change which credit card to debit from, never could get it right. had to tell them for 3 months when my phone number changed. i could not wait until the day my 1-yr contract was over. have heard really good things about hughesnet. i think it is a tad more a month, but supposedly a lot faster than wildblue and not near as many problems from what i have heard from others. wildblue was down for an entire week at one point throughout the year i was on it. always got lost signals and page cannot be found multiple, multiple times throughout the day. i used wildblue with VPN (with transtech) and could not keep a connection enough to get a decent line count as i was dropping signals too much and it did slow it way down. i finally got clinic work rather than acute care where time and speed wasn't a factor. research message boards for complaints about wildblue and hughesnet before deciding. also hughesnet i think told me a 2-yr warranty rather than only the 1-yr with wildblue.

They'll have to supply a computer for me and if it is because of this restriction, then it will have to be free to me. This company monitors this board very closely also so I'm glad to see the responses here. I don't keep my email on my hard drive anyway. I keep my email on my email server and not on my hard drive. I wonder if I would be required to give them my personal log in information to my email server?

They sent out an email
In September/October stating that all MTs who keep a quality score above 98% will be getting an annual raise on their anniversary with the company. This went into effect in October, I believe.
I do not have the email any longer so I'm not sure exactly how much the raise is each year.
