that offshores. Ironically, my NEW mortgage co. just transferred me back to the same company that offshores. I can't win.

ask the mortgage company to produce the note
Just heard about this tactic this week. Most mortgages have been sold and resold and if you ask them to produce the original note you signed on the mortgage most of the time they can't and it will buy you some time. Do a search on it.
You don't need a mortgage if you can't eat.

mortgage shopping
Hi, this board is so helpful regarding so many different things, I thought I'd ask about my current dilema. Just sold my home in SE New Mexico, moving to Albuquerque. Obviously a site built home is the easiest one to get a mortgage for at low interest rates (I have excellent credit), but because of the cost I'm also looking at manufactured/mobile homes on their own land and in a park. This is just for me and my dog, so I don't need anything large anyway. Does anyone have any advice regarding buying a modular/mobile home as I have never owned one before? Thank you for any thoughts you might have regarding this.
Put your name on the deed, just not the mortgage
talk to a good loan officer at a bank about the difference.
Info from 2 different mortgage officers.sm
I wasn't implying that you COULDN'T get approved, I was saying that your score would be higher with fewer open accounts, whether or not they were being used.
For most the mortgage/rent is the most expensive.

The Mortgage-Lifter Tomato
A few years ago, I heard the story behind this great garden vegetable and did order some mortgage-lifter seeds from a catalog.
In the 1960s, a gentleman developed/raised mortgage-lifter tomatoes, selling them off for $1.00 each and sold enough to pay off his $6,000 mortgage. Thus, he named them mortgage-lifters.
Granted, it's too late in the year to start this enterprise now, but selling seedlings to gardeners is one way to earn some extra money.
I live in a rural area and do plant a small vegetable garden every year. I start tomatoes from seeds, and usually end up with more plants than I need. Most people I know do purchase seedlings; they don't start out with seeds. My son and I have decided that we will sell seedlings (more than just tomatoes) next spring at a weekly yard sale in our front yard.
Mortgage-Lifter story is here:

My mortgage payment is nearly that much. Ten year loan.
Mortgage late payment question. sm
I have 18 months left on my 30 year mortgage, roughly 4K left. If I don't pay my February 1st payment until March 2nd, is it likely they will demand the whole 4K immediately? Just broke right now.

My personal goal is when my mortgage is paid off by half - just 125K to go!
Then I will cut back to part time and let hubby carry me. :-) He makes lots more than I do now anyway.
Since your lender is an individual and not a company
I would get an attorney immediately who can tell you what to expect and what your rights are. It should be a nominal consultation fee and you should take with you a summary of your payment history and all the papers you signed at closing.
I had an FHA-backed loan with first-time bond money and my mortgage was sold from my original lender (Union Planters Bank) to a mortgage company. FHA bought me more time and lessened the financial loss for me greatly (they have stake in that - they WANT you to stay in your home) and were of great help.
I also at one point was in such emotional turmoil that I went to a local realtor, sat in his office in tears and told him I did not know what to expect. He spent 45 minutes with me and I learned more from him about what I would actually see happen than from anyone else I had talked to.
I was served my intent to foreclose from the mortgage company and it took about 6 months to actually get through it. I was served the papers announcing the foreclosure auction at the Courthouse on MMDDYYYY date. I went to the courthouse and there was a man standing (literally) in the parking lot and no one else around -- all were inside doing normal business. I walked up to him and asked if he was from BLAH mortgage company. He asked me if I had a gun (hahaha) and I was SHOCKED. Of course, I said no and looked at the courthouse - thinking some crime was happening and pulled my cell phone out to call 9-1-1 (the police station is ACROSS THE STREET...lol). He said most of the time the owners show up with guns and he's even been shot at doing this. LOL
I told him that I had dealt with the loss months ago; they were taking my house - not my children, my job, my life...just my house...and that since I just could not afford to keep it up and repair it, etc., that I would be relieved and better for it in the long run. We talked and he told me that since no one showed to bid, that the mortgage company now officially owned it. I asked him how long I had to get out; he said that I would receive a notice in the mail but to be out by that date as they would literally come in and change the locks and secure it. I told him I would be out before that date and he said to lock it up but leave the keys on the kitchen counter and call the attorney (for the mortgage company). I did just that; I also immediately contacted the company I had my insurance with and told them (got a lovely refund from them for about $360 which helped me move -- also sold virtually everything I had to get out and start over). This was all last year in January 2004. This year I received a paper to file with my taxes where the difference in what I owed and what the buyer (the mortgage co put it up for sale and it eventually sold) paid was forgiven so I did not owe anymore on it.
I have forgiven myself and we now live in a nice clean apartment that is 300 sq ft bigger than my little bitty house. I have an apt mgr to call if something breaks and I don't have to fix it myself; no more lawn work, etc. For me, it was the best thing that happened.
It will be off my credit history the same as a bankruptcy in a few years. I am happier. I learned a lot. Good luck to you. Write me if I can help you deal with the emotion of it at all.
I would specifically ask the company
how your lines are being counted, their program, characters with spaces/no spaces whatever. Get it in writing. You have a right to know. After you get it, compare counts and if they are wrong go back on them for backpay, provided of course you have your old line counts and can verify it.
what are you finding specifically wrong with this company
nm
Exactly - create an email folder specifically for that company sm
and save all pertinent emails in that folder (just drag and drop). I have one for each of the companies I work for and I keep everything for a minimum of 3 to 6 months, longer if I think it is important.
We didnt know it would be like this until we got transferred. I only got transferred within the past
4 weeks. I already have my resume out and have talked to another company. It was okay until the accounts and offices get closed and we ended up at Amherst. I am sure a lot of us are leaving.
I would contact the bank, stop the auto debits, contact the lender...
Contact the lender, explain that you stopped the payment because of financial difficulty. Ask if they have a hardship plan. You probably have a 20-day grace period on your loan payment, (they report to credit bureaus when 30 days late) and you probably also have a grace period on your insurance. In the meantime within those 20 days of grace, FIND A WAY to make some cash. It seems, at least from my experience, that when you get behind, it is almost impossible to catch up. If you use next month's check to pay last month's bills, you never get out of the hole. I've been in that downward spiral and I understand what you're going through. I've sold things on Ebay, consigned clothing at consignment stores, and worked two jobs just to stay afloat at times. Every little bit helps. It can be done. But don't WAIT, call them today!!
You mentioned the IRS. Try calling the Taxpayer Advocate's Service toll free at 1-877-777-4778. They are independent from the IRS and their function is to help solve IRS problems that cannot be solved through normal channels.
i got transferred too
it is crazy, never ran out of work until they moved us to amherst, they OVERLOAD bad....labor day wkend was a joke working for them, email on sunday they are desperate for ppl to work, by monday, no work
I Was Transferred
My office did close. My account was transferred to unfamililar territory and I have found this office to be far superior to the one I worked with before. Just 1 example: I was given a backup account when my main account volume was low. I did well with this account, but did not care for it. After several days, I tried my main account but kept getting the message that all requested dictation had been transcribed. After a few more days I got suspicious and dialed in using another MT ID number. There it was! Work available! It turns out that the woman in charge of my account had "blocked" me from getting into it so I was forced to the do the backup account. It seemed that another MT had quit and that left this account short of MTs. Instead of being honest with me and asking me to help out until they hired another MT, she just blocked me from getting in. So as you can see, it was not all that great with this office. When it closed, I felt bad for those who lost their jobs that worked in that office, but I also felt that I could trust the new office to not do that to me again. I was right. They were all shocked and very disappointed that an employee of MQ would pull such a stunt. I have been with this office for several months now and have been treated no less than wonderful. I am sure there are other good companies out there to work for, but for me, I am staying put. However, if you leave in good standing, MQ always welcomes you back, so you are right--what do you have to lose? I tried it, and if you need to test newer waters, I say go for it.
LOL I don't know. I do know they transferred their corporate
helpdesk back to the U.S. because it comprises 90% of their sales. I think it was 90%. The home users have to put up with the offshores tech support. I bought a Dell, too, because I figured I could do my own tech support without buying anything extra or calling them. Shoot, $300 for a computer and printer. They had to have lost money on that deal, right? I don't know if that was right or wrong of me if I'm against offshoring, but I really needed a new computer.
Anyway, you might try Dell's online knowledge base to search for the answers to your issues. Do you think you'd be able to fix it yourself with detailed instructions? What kind of problem are you having? Maybe I can help.
I transferred my glossary, etc to a new
computer. I found out how to do it by Googling "copying Expander to new computer" or something like that. I'm sorry I cannot tell you exactly what it says as they are printed at home and I'm on the road. This works for your dictionary as well.
Has anyone had 8mm or Super 8 film transferred to DVD?
Seems to me it would be a great X-mas gift. I found one of my brother (now 55+) when he advanced from cub scouts to boy scouts.
I tried to check out a couple of websites, but it's all Greek to me.
I cant believe it. I was just transferred to Amherst and said how much help they needed this weekend
and guess what. NO WORK. Are these people playing games up there with us and our livelihood. I am getting thoroughly disgusted and I think we should talk to corporate about this. There is no sense to this anymore. There is someone up there that must hate MTs and enjoys doing this. They have to be nuts. Is there someone up there we can talk to beyond these idiots that monitor the accounts.
Yes, live on W Coast and my acct transferred
over to Amherst.
I dont know about your accounts there but my office was transferred there and since then all the
accounts and people in my office have their accounts running out. It took a few weeks after being transferred there but finally they got all of them because they want that 1 hour TAT on accounts there and that is what they are trying to do. So I dont think it is a few isolated accounts. My office had tons of accounts that went up there on DQS and we are all in the same boat.
Ooops, transferred the 25 years old to your age at the time.

You'd need to ask the tech if your abbrns. in ESP could be transferred should you ever leave
s
You purchase the plans which allow so much data to be transferred.
I paid for the $59.99 monthly package, which is a lot of data usuage and have used programs such as Dictaphone ExText and Escription on the road. It seems like someone told me you'd have to pretty much be on it nonstop to use up all the data allowance but you can check it out here..http://b2b.vzw.com/broadband/bbapccard.html
Has anyone asked to be transferred out to an office that MIGHT be open for awhile. Is there anyone
in Amherst that is willing to get this situation taken care of or is that a lost cause.
I have been in the same boat since being transferred to Amherst. I have contacted New Jersey and
spoken with one of THOSE WOMEN and have gotten very little response other than oh we will see what we can do and things continue to just go on the way they were. I think it will take a lot of people calling Human Resources and emailing those 2 women or getting transferred or quitting that will change things MAYBE. Are many people quitting up there in Amherst. I know since my office has been transferred they are quitting now.
Just got transferred to the Amherst office and am wondering what to expect from that transfer.
Can anyone tell me anything about how they operate that office. Do you have work in your regular accounts without hundreds of backups or what is the situation.
My goodness, there are MQ offices crying for help. Gets transferred out of Amherst to Ohio or one of
the other offices. I will do that if they run me out of work at Amherst. I dont plan to stick around long if that happens.
Did anyone specifically ask you for references?
Do not give out references unless you are asked to. If they did ask you, did they want personal or professional references? I use my parents' friends as personal references. They've known me my entire life and would never say anything bad anyways. As for professional references, you can call old supervisors or coworkers to see if they would do it.
The recruiter specifically said 8-4:30 Sun through Fri.
This has been mentioned in conference calls.
"You are not to work outside of your schedule. If we need you to work outside of your schedule, we will call you. Do not work off the clock. No where in the U.S. do people work off the clock. It is not legal to work off the clock. Do not work OT without prior authorization."
These are a few of the statements made by management regarding when to work.
I don't play bingo. I do have a mtg, a car payment and would like to live a modest middle America lifestyle which I cannot do I there is a feeding frenzy for the work load because some people make their own rules.
If my company would have said, "have at it" with regard to when to work, I'd be the first one and here is what I'd do.
I'd leave my computer on 24 hours a day and simply check on the work load every 30 minutes, sit down and type away when there was work to do and get up and do other things when there is not.
However, I signed a contract that said I understood the terms and until I am told otherwise, I will follow them.
M-TEC has a program specifically for ....
those with a prior healthcare bakcground. M-Tec programs are very comprehensive. Many companies waive the usual 2-year experience requirement for grads.

My mom has specifically told me...
that she wants me to let the state take care of her. I, of course, cannot do this. I love my mom way too much, and she has had a VERY rough life. Unfortunately, she has not been able to save or put away money for her when she gets older. She will have to work until the day she dies. Having 4 kids with no help whatsoever from the dads, family or the state, she has taken care of us the best she could....holding down 2-3 jobs at times. All the while doing this, she still had my brothers in baseball, took my sister to the medical center for counseling several times a week and stood up to my abusive father in court to fight for her kids. Not to mention, my three times a week breathing treatments. We came first ALWAYS! None of my brothers and sisters (the ones still living) can take care of themselves. I understand that it will be my responsibilty, one in which I will do without hesitation. The only exeption to that would be if it were damaging to my own family, which she made me promise her. If it got to the point, like a friend I know, where she was constantly crying in pain and it was taking an emotional toll on them, I would have no choice but to put her in a nursing home. You bet your butt though I would be there on a regular basis.
It just all depends on the situation. I do think though that it is a very sad thing that we do not take care of our family better, especially our elders. When there are elderly people sitting without AC because they can't afford a $450+ electric bill, not eating right, going without medicine, that is a sad thing...just as it is that we have children starving in our own country.
Same here. I have accounts that specifically say to
put the patient's name in the report if the physician dictates it.
sometimes the docs specifically say they--sm
won't pay for *normals* or pretyped template phrases. If he/they have not already stated this, then charge the same. If they realize after the fact that this is the case, be honest and tell them that it was never stated not to include template normals and then negotiate a price. If, as the other poster stated, you have to print these out, it is still costing you the same, so I would charge for it. Perhaps, if you want to be above board, ask him prior to beginning with the new templates, what his intentions are. Sometimes they *forget* to say whether it is paid for, or not. I hope you get what you want out of it. good luck.
Unless the client specifically says do not
double space, then I do. Were you told not to?
If the doc said specifically send via (sm)
email, then address the email to him with ccs to other docs who are to receive a copy..
Maybe she is told to specifically do certain
dictators first or worktypes first. You never know what goes on behind closed doors or what agreements other coworkers have with the company or supervisor.
You can approach the subject with you supervisor gently without accusing the other MT of anything and see what reply you receive. At least, that is how I would approach it if it really bothered me.
Personally, I really don't pay much attention to what other coworkers are doing, as long as there is enough work for me and I am able to make a decent pay check and have the quantity of work to transcribe, I am happy.
Try not to get so wrapped up in what others are doing and just do your job to the best of your ability. If and when it hinders your ability to make a decent living, then maybe talk to your supervisor.
No info about them specifically...
But I would suggest that you look into AHIMA's Coding Basics. Their program is eligible for college credit, which is very important. Many coders have their RHIT credential. In order to obtain that, you need an associate's degree. If I remember correctly, the Coding Basics program provides around 40 college credits. You need around 60 credits to finish an associate's degree, so you would have about 2 semesters to get those extra 20 credits. Their program is self-paced and costs around $2000 plus books.
Specifically the Good Humor
ice creams bars with the chocolate candy surprise inside! Do they still make them? I may have to chase down an ice cream truck. Oh, do they still make THEM? LOL!
Can someone tell me specifically how to take Instatext and Glossaries
to a new computer? I guess a flash drive, but i have never used one. Do you just plug it in a USB and....well, then what?
Thanks in advance!
