my computer guy initially hooked me up with a router and a kvc switch to toggle back and forth between machines. but i think it would be real easy to do yourself also, with just a little instruction. for so long i had my 2 machines set up separate with 2 of everything. This is by far the best!! 1 f. pedal, 1 mouse, 1 keyboard, 1 monitor. and no i don't think it matters how close the 2 machines are to each other, as long as there is some breathing room around them. I think my router is a belkin. Its also pretty simple to go in and make the 2 communicate with each other so you can run either off of same printer too. Its all pretty slick!!
