I think children are pushed to start performing way too soon. It is a sad, sad state of the world but unfortunately every one is of that mindset these days.
I don't think it has benefited the kids either --if you watched Oprah last week and pay attention to the statistics, our schools are lagging far behind other countries. Back in the good old days kids were allowed to be kids, held back from school until they were ready to go ADD or ADHD was very rare or virtually unheard of-- have they really benefited from all the pushing??

Heres-a-what-i'm-gonna do
I just went to the bank and took out enough money to last me a week away from home. I am leaving tomorrow - pills in hand - just enough OxyContin to wean the way someone suggested and enough other stuff to help with the withdrawals - phenergan and xanax - plus my blood pressure medicine, as it tends to go up if I wait too long between the OxyContin pills. I am going to drive to a place about 2 hours from my home and check into a motel - it is right next to a large teaching hospital - so if I get in trouble - I will have a place to go. This is all hurting me and my family so much that the only way I can do it is to do it without them. They won't miss me for at least 3 hours and by that time I will be settled in and ready for the fight. I will post again to let you all know how it goes. Thanks for everyones input and help - I really appreciate it. Hopefully by next week I will be able to think clearer and be able to remember what happened five minutes before. Thanks to you all.
