Without giving too many details, I will try you an example. Let's say the transcription department is divided into two groups, team A and team B. Team A transcribes basic 4 and have a higher grade level, and team B transcribes ER notes and radiology and are a lower grade. They have made each like a separate department with a different job "codes." When team B gets behind (which is often), they have people from Team A help in OT but only will pay team A overtime at a team B pay. We both use the same equipment and skills to do our job. So, If I make 20/hr regular time on team A, then they force me to do OT on team B at 13/hour which at time and 1/2 is virtually the same pay! Got it? I could understand if I was working in another department as a secretary, or filing, or in the cafeteria, but I AM STILL TRANSCRIBING MEDICAL REPORTS USING THE SAME EQUIPMENT AND SKILLS!!
