do you ever find yourself "editing" when you're not working? sm
I find myself, like when I'm reading a menu or magazine, newspaper, etc, always finding the grammer errors, punctuation errors, spelling errors, and it drives me--not to mention my DH--nuts! I guess it's out of habit, but I can't seem to turn the "editor" in me off! I'm always, instead of enjoying the story or article, or whatever I'm reading, looking for errors or typo's. Does anyone else ever do this? I guess I'm obsessive/compulsive. Think I could get work comp for that? 
You could possibly find a position working
for a doctor, but not working at home. It would have to be in-house. You need to get a certificate in medical transcription. Can be done at a local community college on from an accredited on-line school. It will take you 12-18 months to complete the certificate based on how much time/effort you put into it. Some companies will hire newbies, but the pay is very, very low and there are few companies that are willing to do that. Right now a lot of working is being offshored and going to voice recognition, so there seem to be an excess of experienced transcriptionists. If you worked in an office most likely you could paid hourly. I'd say $8 to $10/hour is fair for a newbie doing office transcription. If you worked in an at home situation most likely you would get paid on production. For a newbie that is probably 6 to 8 cpl. How much you are able to make depends on several factors; how fast you type, you fund of knowledge, the quality of the dictators, the sound quality of the dictation, the format you are required to work on, etc. For the first couple of years you might average $10/hour.
If you're looking for a quick buck, you're looking in the wrong business. You'd be better off waiting tables.
I find working at home a breeze
I can write off all things (including part of home space, part of electrical bill, all of phone and cable service and other things on the income tax, so there is where there is a break. I keep my electric bill down by using a small heater in the winter at my feet and have an overhead fan for the summer- should it get up to the 80s, then I might turn on the air for a while but my home so large I do not care to pay $$$ to air-conditing the entire home and just me here most of the time (hubs drives long distance). I sleep as late as I like (my work starts at noon), shower, dress and walk to the next room. What do you have to do at home that you find it so hard?? I work straight through, be it in the office or at home, not taking breaks and/or lunch so makes no difference either way for me.

In an internet chat room
I was in a chat room on AOL with my morning group of "Moms on Line" when another mom typed "OMG!!! Put on your t.v.'s everyone!" I rushed into the den and put on the t.v. and stood there staring at Tower 1 in flames. I listened for only about a minute as Charles Gibson talked about how it might have been an accident, when all of a sudden, the second plane came into view and crashed into Tower 2. I saw that live on t.v. and just screamed, all alone in the house. I knew right then that it was terrorism.
I live in the Philly 'burbs and about four times a year I drive up to JFK airport for one reason or another. Used to be that you drove over the Verranzano Bridge into B'lyn you could look to the left and see Manhattan and the twin towers. I am incredibly sad whenever I go over the bridge. The city looks changed and sort of scarred.
And another thing... it was such, SUCH a beautiful day on the east coast on 9/11/01. I mean it was gorgeous! I walked my kids to school that morning and thought to myself that it was one of the most gorgeous days I had ever seen. No clouds, no humidity, pleasant temp. Now, whenever we have another one of those, I think of 9/11 and how gorgeous that day was. :(

get over-tired I'll have more problems with palpitations than when I'm well rested. I also have them more if I've been taking in more caffeine. While these palpitations are harmless they are annoying, aren't they?
