I can totally see past what she's done in the past. I havve 3 sons, one much older, and cannot even fathom this happening. I wonder if the stress of the new baby had anything to do with it. This is so tragic. I am so sad.
I work early morning shift and I get the garbage
leftover from the day before. I will often get 6 reports from a very difficult ESL dictator and they may be over an 8 hour period of dictation. When there is such a gap in the dictation you know you are being assigned these reports, not just luck of the draw. All work is assigned by the office. I have seen my line count drop about 4000 lines/pay period the last couple of months because I'm getting such bad dictators. I don't mind doing my fair share, but it certainly isn't fair that my line count is being affected like it is.
I have complained to my supervisor and it got better for a couple of months and now it is the same crap all over again and I'm looking to move on.
Never, not gonna happen, I'm the early morning person
who always gets up for nothing when there's no work.

Geeze I thought this was a place to go and get help from coworkers.
Will anything else play, a CD or anything? That is 1 clue to make sure there is or is not a card, make sure everything is plugged up correctly.
Try this, In Windows Media Player, to go Tools, Options, Devices, Speakers, properties choose Default DirectSound Device click okay and close out and see if that works.
If not, you might go to Start, Settings, Control panel, Sound/speach/audiodevices and follow some of the trouble shooting techniques.
If all else failes use the Help on the start button and research or go to the knowledge center of Microsoft.com and search the error message.
Other than that, if one is not installed you should be able to go and pick one up at wal-mart, radioshack or some other local store rather reasonably, definitely cheaper than being out of work for the day.

30% - yes, that's right 30 PERCENT!! - in the last ten years. This is all due to the new and improved (ahem!) creative ways of now counting the lines and what's included and what's not included. You can't tell me doctors aren't making money these days. If there were no money to be made, NOBODY would want to become one!!

I use spell check all the time, it is part of being a professional. Except, of course, for the test, lol. Obviously, the poster who mixed-up "their" and "there" needs to start using it or, at the least, proofread their posts.

Yeah, the ditmo that typed the cover spelled it wrong, what is priceless, they fixed the cover of the book, but they left the webpage incorrect.
Typos are everywhere. You will love this one. At the corner store where I live there is a plastic sign that has been there for years. The sign reads, "Florida Lottory" and it has a pink flamingo on it. It was made by the Florida Lottery Commission.
Right next to the incorrectly spelled, "Lottory," they have a poster plastered in the window that reads, "The Florida Lottery has provided over 10 Billion dollars towards education."
Now either that money was not put to good use . . . or someone is lying. oh boy.

I meant that the government is NOT on our side.
AAMT is not on our side, either - since they came on the scene, conditions for MTs have plummeted. A very few people there have gotten very rich off of MTs, especially newbies. And now AAMT seems to be getting involved with India. (Why am I not surprised?)

I am so livid with the 'suits' I can't even type straight, lol - anyone else there feel that management should only include someone who actually did the dirty deed of being an MT before the they think that they can 'manage us'?! I love the companies where the owners are previous MTs - now there is a company that is run intelligently in my opinion and the company that you would want to trust and put your efforts in.

Lots to do after wedding, honeymoon, getting settled, enjoying new life, etc. Big job to write all those thank you notes. I still remember after 40 years struggling to get that done!!!! I bet you'll be getting one. If these people are friends, they're probably like you and raised their daughter to be appreciative. Give it more time.
You were right to get out early
I was very patient with a one of those type clients and had to threaten to take them to court to get the money they owed me.
