Word document
Here is what I do . . . sort of the same thing. I sometimes work on temp jobs and if I think I know how the client wants something, but I am not 100% sure I highlight the area. The MTSO will then return my work -- if she makes a change she will highlight so I can find it easily and if what I did was okay she simply will remove the highlighted area and the report is good to go on to the doctor. It is very simple to highlight an area and just as easy to remove it. It won't exactly show what your MT did wrong, but the MT will know that you changed something that is hightlighted and see the correct way of typing. If she has her original she can match your highlighted area with her original to compare.

I have sent really large Word files as an attachment even using dial-up.
Can someone please tell me how to see document codes in Word?..nm

Open up a word document to use as a
template. Do view header. Go into th e header of your word document. Go back to your scanned document, highlight the pic and right click to copy. Then go back to your word document that you created and paste into the header. Do the same if there is a footer. Hope this helps.
I have a Word document question.
If anyone can help that would be great. I have header and footer boxes that are really large, so now they are throwing off my already existing templates. When I went for help in Word, it tells me how to make them smaller, but they just keep going back to the regular size. Is there a way to change this across the board for all of my preexisting word documents?
You should have no problem..just save your document in Word. A lot of our MTs use WP 10 (sm)
and as long as they save it as a Word document it pulls up fine in Word for the client.

Anyone know how I can take addresses from a Word document and transfer them to mailing labels?
I have several hundred typed out, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn it into a mailing list. I have downloaded Avrey Wizard, but when I try to do it, it asks me about field delimiters and no matter what I pick it doesn't work. Maybe there is a simpler way??
Thanks!
If you have Word Perfect, it is easy. Just open any document, default the font and margins and do a
You can do a comparrison on gross lines versus 65 character line count by opening any document you have and counting lines both ways.
I have almost always been paid the gross line and still am right now. No matter what the margins or font is, all documents are converted to 1 inch margins and 12 Courier font. You do not count blank lines. I make an average of 0.08 a gross line, which the way I am paid would average out to about 11-12 cents a 65 character line.
Hope this helps!

Anybody donated a kidney? sm
My sister has renal failure and is on dialysis. She was admitted to the hospital with myxedema coma (severe hypothyroidism) back in March, being hospitalized into the middle of June. She made a miraculous recovery considering she started out on life support in the ICU of a major medical center. She's now home and doing terrific, but she's been left with the RF. She is starting the paperwork for a transplant, and I am considering possible kidney donation. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with it? I'd appreciate any info. I've done a little investigating on the net and it goes without saying it's a big decision and a lot involved. Appreciate any input for sure and thanks!

kidney surgery
I am facing kidney surgery in the very near future to cut out a urethral stricture from my single kidney (congenital). My doctor informed me this is a relatively common procedure but that it is not a surgery one can just bounce right back from. I'm just curious if anyone can tell me whether you've had this surgery or know someone who has, and know their recovery rate and prognosis. He also told me there is a 2% to 3% chance this could not take and the surgery might have to be repeated. My doctor told me one month after the surgery I will have to have a second surgery to remove a stent that he will temporarily place. He said I will be in the hospital overnight (for the initial surgery) and then probably won't feel like doing my regular activities for at least two weeks. Thanks for any information.
My son's best friend is in need of a kidney transplant.
He is such a smart, sweet, good kid. He's only 15 years old, but he's trying to help raise some of the money for his transplant by operating an Internet store because his family has had hard times and the insurance company bailed on him. He's not yet on dialysis, so Medicare won't cover it. The high school refused to work with him on his absences because they thought he was making it all up. Never mind the fact that his mother and doctor also called the school to explain. He sleeps a lot because he's so sick and tired. He has been off the charts on all of the state's standardized tests, so you know he could just walk in and pass the GED exam. Anyway, his older brother will be the living donor because there are no compatible cadaver donated organs out there. A person ought to be able to depend on their family when nobody else can help. I have kidney problems myself. I only hope that if it came to it, someone would be there for me.
OT-Anyone have polycystic kidney disease?
I have just recently learned I have polycystic kidney disease (my mother died of kidney failure) and the cysts are on my right kidney, adrenal gland and on recent CT, (only two months from my first one), I have now developed cysts on my liver too. The kidney cysts are bleeding. :( I have daily right-sided aching and back pain. My right kidney is deformed and I have reflux on the right as well as kidney damage from childhood.
My whole illness started out about eight months ago as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and it was horrible with nausea, anorexia due to that, and significant weight loss. I had two Epley maneuvers that corrected the vertigo. A CT of the abdomen and pelvis was done and that is when the first cysts on the kidney were discovered which I was told were not concerning in someone in their 50s. In the meantime, I had started eliminating a couple of my Rx meds and the nausea stopped, and so I felt they were the cause of my nausea which in a sense I feel could still be true but perhaps more due to not metabolizing the meds appropriately due to kidney and/or liver problems but I do not know that yet. I do not see a urologist until 09/07 and will find out more then.
It is my understanding that this is a hereditary/genetic disorder and there is no cure and progression to kidney failure is quite high by the time you are 60 and I am 52.
I was just wondering if anyone else has this or knows someone who does and what info they may be willing to share.
Thanks so very much. :)
Anyone REALLY familiar with GFR/kidney tests?
This is a personal question, not exactly related to work. I am going in circles with at least 2 doctors now (and several unrelated specialists) who are not concerned about my lab values, but from what I have looked up, it seems they should be doing something, even if it is just explaining what is going on and why.
Since August last year, my GFR has been 55-59, and from what I've read, that means kidney damage. I am still on indomethacin, which I believe can contribute to kidney damage. I don't know what else could be contributing or what might make things better, or if like they say, it's "within normal limits" and "nothing to worry about".
Any input?
My step-father got a kidney transplant
He was extremely happy to be off the dialysis and looked quite a bit healthier for a span of time (kidneys do things the plastic tubing just can't), but he only lived an extra 3 years and had to take lots of antirejection meds in the meantime, was in and out of the hospital a lot.
I agree with the person who posted below about talking to a physician about the downsides. Find out exactly what quality of life most transplant recipients have and how many extra years most of them receive. This is a big decision. It will change your life and probably in ways you can't fathom yet.
Wish I could give you better answers. It's so hard to watch people we love suffer.
Yep, my son's doc charged 111.00 for a 3 minute visit to tell him he had a kidney stone.
And to think the insurance paid it. Hmmm.
The first question I would ask myself is, "why would I NOT give my sister a kidney?"
Yes, it's an enormous decision. Good luck to you both.

Is your document (sm)
going "full screen" when you do this? If so, use Alt-V to pull the View menu and change the view back to normal. I'm guessing you are hitting Alt-V instead of Ctrl-V for pasting. If you are in full screen mode, there should be a little box floating that says "close full screen." Clicking that will change it back too.
Do you want a new document to...
to show the template or the new blank page within the current document to show the template? In other words, is every report created in a document of its own or are all the reports created in one document containing several reports? Either way, I would think a macro would be very useful. You could use a macro to insert the template on the blank page of new document or, if several reports are joined together to form a document, you could make a macro that would create section break at the end of the current report and insert the template on a new page.
Don't get mad, just document.
Save QA e-mails in an e-mail folder. Then when you get conflicting messages, simply forward the conflict to the QA and very respectfully say that this feedback seems to be conflicting, so there must be something you don't understand.
If for some reason they do this over the phone, I'd ask if you could get that in writing so you'll be able to keep the rules straight.
Don't get mad, just document
The corrections go into an on-line type folder. I have e-mailed the person in charge stating that feedback seems to be conflicting. The response? There wasn't any. One Editor correcting the work will say "good report" while the next will do just the opposite even though you set up/type basically the same way. Some days I get so upset I could literally cry. I love the work but how can one please when the editors are not on the same page? Really broken at heart over the whole thing. :-(

Did you try it elsewhere in the document?
When I entered the cm2 as a formatted auto correct, it did make everything suprascript; however, go to another line and type the cm2 there. It should work correctly. Just don't know why it won't on the original. Let us know if you're successful.

then when done with all the sound files, then upload that 1 document? I do short little blips for a doctor, and she sends me 30 or so voice files and I type them up in one document for her unless it is a letter, then that is its own file. The then cut/paste the correct paragraph into the patients file at their end. (each blip has the patient's name and visit date). Did your doctor decide to change things from how you were doing it before?

can anyone document anterobasal hypokinesis?
Point is, the document is copyrighted
.
That is so true. A document that is signed
is read as having been approved by the signer of that document. We have no way of knowing whether the doctor reads the document or not. In the case of the digoxin dose mentioned above, even if an MT transcribes the wrong dosage (though one should be very careful not to), if the doctor read the note he/she should catch the error before signing his/her name.
