I felt like myself.  I must admit when with friends or family (which is rarely), I feel like my old self again.  I have to get some stuff off my chest and I've been getting such good feedback here that, what the hay, here goes...my name is XXXXX.  I'm originally from XXXXX.  I'm 32 years old and I've been depressed for 12 years.  When I was 19, the most incredible man in my world passed away.  I was very weak while he was sick.  He got sick when I was 9.  He had emphysema and died in front of us for 10 years.  He was the only man that has ever loved me unconditionally.  He used to call me his "Pretty Girl".  He said I had a beautiful singing voice and cried when I sang at my HS graduation.  He said I looked like Valerie Bertinelli on One Day At A Time and I did.  He was my best friend all through my childhood and his presence in my life made me who I was at that time.  He was my Grandpa Bob.  My mom's dad.  He was 68 years old.  

I was in my very first relationship and I was extremely naive.  His name was XXXX.  He was controlling and possessive, but my Grandpa was sick and my own dad hadn't grown up yet.  I didn't know what I was doing.  I married him in a lavish Catholic wedding 3 months after Grandpa passed.  He left me for someone else SIX (6) months later.  I was 20 and divorced.  I felt it necessary to get the marriage annulled by my church.  That proceeding took me 2 years.  I was crippled.  These three events destroyed me.  I know that now.  I was in no shape to even leave the house.  I hallucinated, shook, and broke down all the time.  Ladies and gentleman, I'm no better now.  The real kicker is I have been on a self-destructive roller coaster for 12 years, the last 5 of which I have spent with XXXXX.  Good Golly Miss Molly. What a weight off.  THE FIRST STEP IS ADMITTING YOU HAVE A PROBLEM.  Right?  I have to press "post" now. 

I took my CMT exam yesterday. It took almost 4 hours and was one of the hardest tests I've ever taken. The test gets all done and it just says that you've "passed" and will be getting your certificate and pin "in the mail." Couldn't they  have the screen show a display of fireworks or flash "CMT, CMT...." at you.

And I really want to know what I scored. I know they can't give me the answers to particular questions because other people will be taking the test, but at least give me a number so I know if I'm really good or just okay. I'm obsessive that way I guess. I've been looking up everything I was unsure of, and I've only found one question I missed for sure, but I know there are stupid mistakes. And I know I'll be waking up at night in a cold sweat remembering something else I need to look up. Okay, I've finally gone nuts. 

Will this work?  A couple of years ago I tried a Lanier with Vonage and it didn't.  I don't want to go through the setup trouble only to be disappointed again.  I really need more minutes than my 5000 per month with Qwest.  Has the technology changed to make the Lanier compatible with internet phone service?  Thanks if you can help me.

I am unfamiliar with the Lanier ExWriter. Can somebody please fill me in? I have a C-phone, VDI station, a call-in system with L.E.E.C.H. capabilities that can download work onto my system from another, or rerecord equipment. Can you access files from call-in systems like you can with a regular telephone and C-phone? How is the sound quality? I am not to thrilled with the .dss or WAV files.

I work at a clinic part-time typing into EMR's as well as running my own company.  But now they are loading Stedman's spell check and work expanders onto Word so that I can type in word and then transfer the info over to the electronic chart.  I type faster in word.  They found that it is faster for the doc to dictate rather than type into the chart and not only that, insurances were questioning the "standardization" of the chart notes.   Too similar.  So I do make sure that even though I use expanders, and macros, I do make some minor changes to "standard exams" so it does not all look the same, but this is with the approval of the docs.  But they can see at least 4-6 additonal patients and dictate all the notes rather than type then and are able go home at 5 o'clock instead of 7.   Also the TAT is 48 hours and not weeks as the docs would never finish the notes.   So we will still be here just typing under a different format.

I don't spellcheck or audit what I type for postings on the internet.  Maybe I should?  After all, I am posting this for myself, not my employer, but you are right, I should care enough. 

I think the MTs that Crabby was talking about in her post ought to care too.  I am burnt out from working 14 hours a day to make up for the $$ that I am not making because we all haven't had a raise since 1988 and I believe that MTs with poor skills are part of the reason why all MTs are not getting paid what they deserve.  Are we the only profession that has not had a cost of living raise in practically forever?  

I have worked as an IC and employee.  For every some companies, you need WORD 2003.  I could not understand why 2007 would not work, but they swear that it would not work with eScription.  Some people told me that they spoke directly with eScription who said it would; needless to say, I had to purchase a very outdated copy from Amazon.com for about $200.  I was also told that it had to be the full version of WORD.  If you are working with eScription, I am sure that part is correct. 

You will have to get a foot pedal, and I was told by last two companies that I was working for (simultaneously) that I had to have a 9-pin foot pedal with a USB adapter which is different somehow than USB alone. 

If you are working from a C-Phone then you can rent this equipment from the company.  This would require the unlimited long distance.

Most require highspeed internet.

The other important thing to know is preparing for self-employment taxes.  That is the big one.

I had the hardest time finding good headphones (which you may already have) but finally found the best ever and VERY inexpensive at dictaionwarehouse .com. The salesman was great help and talked me into the less expensive set which was their best seller.  I had already planned on spending $200 for a good set and only spent $25. (Spectra-RA twin speaker headset).  They have these in digital w/USB, stereo, Dictaphone and many other types of connections.  I am now an employee for a specialty clinic and had to go back to tapes and needed mono-headphones, but I am sure the others would be great also and again VERY inexpensive, but the salesman will be honest and tell you for sure.  I just had to share this after the long drawn out hunt.
