does anyone know about a 3-limit install on DocShuttle, Wavplayer and other Bytescribe products? sm

they told me after three installs, even if I buy a new computer, I have to buy the program all over again, at $100 a pop. Has anyone else ever been told this? Sounds like a rip off to me.

I just found out you can only install Bytescribe Docshuttle 3 times!

I had no idea of this and apparently this is in the fine print of the license agreement (shame on me for not reading it!)  So I have DocShuttle Client at $99 and DocShuttle Admin at $299.  I have to reformat my hard drive this weekend so I will be on my third and last install.  I really do not want to have to purchase this all over again because that is a huge chunk of change.

Does anyone know of any other software that I might be able to use when the time comes?  I want to start my research early because I can't get myself into a bind if you know what I mean.

Thanks!

Bytescribe wavplayer
I have a Bytescribe wavplayer, but it doesn't fit into my speakers.  Does anyone know what kind of speakers I need to get, or do I need to drag the foot pedal into the store with me to try it out?
Do you have Bytescribe WavPlayer?
nm
didya notice that FAQ isn't on the Docshuttle or WavPlayer faq?
only under their general faq. I feel like they're hiding it to rip off people who don't comb the entire site to get the dongle.
Bytescribe has a version of Wavplayer that will

convert DSS to Wav files.  I use it so the voice files will sound better.  The DSS files on the WavPlayer were alittle garbled on slow or fast speed so this converts them to Wav files, which plays better.  You could call Bytescribe and ask them if it will convert DVF files to Wav files.  It does it automatically when it loads the voice file.

No, I'm talking about Bytescribe WavPlayer.

You are only permitted three installations before you have to purchase another license. This becomes a problem if you're using a second computer, such as laptop for travel; when you eventually have to replace your computer (as I do about every 2 years), you're out of luck after the third install.

Bytescribe does say that you can work around that with something called a dongle--problem is they don't advertise it and I didn't know about it after the third install. So, IMO, it was not money well spent, especially when I found that Express Scribe was free and worked very well for me.

Does anyone use DocShuttle and WavPlayer together for their digital transcription? Has it worked out

xx

Bytescribe wavplayer will play DSS files.

Bytescribe .wavplayer will play the DSS files from Olympus.

How about downloading a trial version of Wavplayer from Bytescribe (or other wav player)....sm
and see if the .dvf files will work.   That could help isolate some of the problem.  Can you get them to play in Media Player?
Bytescribe 3x install

We've been using Bytescribe for years and are happy with the product. We recently added a new customer, so I purchased a DocShuttle Dictator and also found out, upon receiving it, that there was a 3-times install license. I suppose they have been experiencing, or think they have experienced piracy.

What I did not read in this thread is that you can, for about 10 or 20 dollars more, purchase a version of all this software that has a dongle (thing you plug into the USB port) so that you can install it as many times as you want. The software checks for this device and does not run unless it is there.

I think that Bytescribe could have made this clear to their customers and on the web site. Even though I am technical, this passed me by about why there was a dongle and no-dongle version. It didn't clearly state what the dongle did and why one would purchase it...until I called and asked after my purchase.

I would also suggest to everyone that the 3x install may not be part of prior licenses of the software, so I would guess that a new policy by Bytescribe does not affect software that came out before this policy and licensing arrangement. I've never bothered to check it out.

Overall, I think that Bytescribe is a great company. It is likely a small company like many of ours and cannot handle large numbers of inquiries with many variations that exist all the time. They've been very friendly to us and very responsive on all support requests. The only thing I wish they would do is add more features for more complex business interactions with multiple customers and multiple contract transcribers. The transcription business is getting more complex, especially with HIPAA and large distributed medical offices.
Might try DocShuttle by Bytescribe...

This software will do what you what.  I use it and it sures makes life easier for me!! See link.

DocShuttle/Bytescribe

Is anyone familiar with DocShuttle or Bytescribe?

DocShuttle/Bytescribe

Is the program user friendly?  Reliable?

DocShuttle Dictator (Bytescribe) is what you are looking for. nm

I'm confused...have you installed Bytescribe/Docshuttle more than 3x?
If so, how did you manage this?
DocShuttle/Bytescribe user experience
Does anyone have experience using DocShuttle by Bytescribe?  I am considering this for an application where an account has 5 doctors that want to dictate on digital portables & I have 5 transcriptionists working out of their home.  How is it to setup & use?  Does it work?  Is the company available when there are problems?  I would appreciate any insight on this company & software.
Bytescribe offers a 14-day trial (DocShuttle).
xx
if you purchase bytescribe/docshuttle, you can actually upload the completed work back on there. nm
;
The Orator dictation system offered by Bytescribe also works with DocShuttle. I use it as well as th

I thought the price was reasonable. You can export the files into DocShuttle so that the docs can still use the electronic signature feature. I have one facility that uses the system this way.  One doc uses the olympus DS-2300 and the other two use my call-in system.

I am not sure but I think Bytescribe and Expresscribe are similar. I have Bytescribe with a 9-pin
serial port for my foot pedal.  My foot pedal has worked fine with several different programs and proprietary software too, sometimes I have had to reselect/reset in in the proprietary programs, but it alwasy works fine.  You can ask the Bytescribe people though, and tell them what kind of foot pedal you have and they will make sure you get the correct version so it will work.  As for PlayAll it will not work if you have Bytescribe on your computer, at least this is what I have been told my 1 of my employers.  I was given a copy of the PlayAll but I can't get it to work, it will open up and I just right down the info I need from it for my records and blank notes, just won't "play" supposedly because I have Bytescribe.  I am not taking it off to see or not though. You need to find out what kind of wav files they are though because if the ExpressScribe will play them, then there is really no reason for you to buy Bytescribe too. --Good Luck.
What's the best wavplayer?

I need to purchase a wav player. What would you recommend as the best?

Thank you!

WavPlayer help.
New to WavPlayer and need to put voice files into WavPlayer from e-mail attachment.  Tried dragging and dropping, but did not work.  Do I need to save these voice files somewhere else and drag them in to WavPlayer from there.  Testing for a new company and can't get past this.  Good grief!  Off to a bad start. Help please.  TIA.
and you should buy Wavplayer to transcribe in. nm

The best wavplayer can be found inexpensively.
Express Scribe is free to download.  You can also find wav pedals very cheap on eBay that will work with it.  I paid $10 for a game port pedal four years ago and $10 for a USB pedal two months ago.  Try searching for "foot petal" to see what comes up.
I have to say that I buy a lot of products from TVPS and have never had a

problem.  Before calling the BBB and credit card company, why not try again to contact the company?  People are always so quick to jump and complain to the BBB, when situations can be resolved.  I would suggest calling and asking to speak to Tom Wilkes directly.  His extension is 101.

BTW, I do not work for TVPS, I own an MTSO and only purchase from them.

Hair products...
I remember hearing a rumor that Prell or Pert would turn your hair green. I'm a brunette, never happened. Also, what ever happened to "creme/cream rinse"? That's what it was called in the 80's. In my Aqua Net days, I could make my bangs stand up about 2 inches, my best girlfriend's bangs were 4 inches high! Wow! I love this. Let's keep going.
Weird MT products
I am sure that with equality of hiring acts, ergonomics, handicap working issues, everything that can be thought of is out in cyberspace somewhere.  I think it is just a matter of surfing the web til you find these products.  I have seen one-handed keyboards that look similar to a joy sticks, as well as other configurations.
Usually there is no limit.
As an IC, you are not considered an employee where the company would only give you a certain amount of time.  I have taken time off sporadically as an IC, and the company has not said a word.  They actually thanked me for giving notice.  I guess on the norm even notice isn't required.  I just thought it courteous to give the company a few weeks to maybe find a replacement for that time period.  It has never been a problem whether it be a day off or 10 days off.  If I only need a day off though I don't even tell them, I just don't take the work.  The IC position I have though is an actual IC position in that I am not assigned work.  It is a typing pool basically, so if I do not want to work that day, I just don't take any work.  It has neve been a problem.  This type of arrangement in my opinion is true IC status.
If you want to limit yourself, as IC that is your

Age limit
Is there any age limit to be a transcriptionist? Could a 16-year-old do it? Thanks!

Not sure about age limits, but you need to check out training programs before anything else. Check out this link: http://www.ahdionline.org/scriptcontent/mtschool.cfm
natural products helped me - sm
I feel for you. Different story, (though same in that tubes tied, PMS-crazy 10 out of 30 day each month, teens) but maybe this might help you. I could not opt for hormone tx (diabetic)after hysterectomy (for other changes in cycle; light, then very heavy, then not there) and opted for surgery when fibroids were found.)Immediate surgical menopause resulted in symptoms even though before this my FSH and estradiol levels came back I was not peri.

Researched websites and found natural progesterone cream (bought at local health store)helped me a lot, but wound up on Lexapro (calming) too. Taken together, this was the optimum fix for me.
ALLERGIES AND MARYKAY PRODUCTS.

I am trying to find out why my eye keep watering (only on one side).   Has anyone been allergic to Mary Kay.  I have been using it for 20 years but for the last 5 months my eye won't stop watering.  Doctor said it must be allergy to something.  I do not wear mascara or eye shadow.

check out entirelypets.com. On the products I use
they are significantly cheaper than petrx.  If your order is a certain amount ($100 I think and mine always are) you get free shipping.  They also send me e-coupons every month $3.00 off $45/order, $5 off $100 something+ order, etc.  They also have sales.  Their selection of products is excellent.  You may have to type in a product in the search box as you may not find what you are looking for in their menu, but they have had every med my dog/cats are one and they are multiple.  They also have things like sprays and shampoos that my vet doesn't carry, that I have found to work better than what my vet carries.  They also have homeopathic products.  I have ordered 3 times without problem, ships the next day via priority mail.   I have yet to order a product that I need a prescription for.  One prescription med my dog is on is not available from my vet and I have to get at the local pharmacy and they are about 25 cents higher at entirelypets than the drug store.  They also sell them by the pill so you have to be careful and read the fine print.  The pills are $6.00 and I thought the first time it was $6.00/bottle that I paid $180 for at the pharmacy - LOL.
facial hair products-sm
I am post menopausal and deal with upper lip facial hair.  I have tried several things such as creams and tweezing (ouch) and shaving.  I'm not happy with any of them.  What's a woman to do?  I can't just leave it.  It's too dark and too much.  I can't afford expensive treatments.  Isn't there a decent product out there for this problem?
facial hair products
waxing with honey bee wax. u can buy it at Sally's Beauty Supply. it's $10 a jar that will last u months plus the strips which are $10 and the wooden sticks. u just feel a quick tug. the redness goes away within an hour, maybe less. it'll last u a week. it's the treatment i like the best from creams, bleaching, and tweezing.
Stedman's make their products so you have
to have the CD to install and the newer programs only allow 2 installs.  You can move other programs by copying to CD or a flash drive.   I've done this with 3 computers, but it doesn't work with Stedman's.
Handmade-new law for products for children

If anyone is thinking of making handmade items for children as a sideline you should read this new Consumer Protection Agcy law.  Good idea, keeping our children safe from lead but not a well thought out law and will put small businesses out of business.

Is buying off a website like that, or from another person, like pirating?  Most likely cannot get a license to use this and would be a waste of money??
Boycotting their products/services - SM
wherever and whenever possible.  To make this an effective deterrent to these companies, it would have to gain large media-wide attention, encouraging Americans to boycott companies who offshore and their products, services or anything else they have to offer - might start by enlightening them (U.S. consumers) - "They need YOU more than you need THEM, so make yourself heard! OR ELSE - WHERE WILL YOUR CHILDREN WORK???

There is not a limit, but for some reason it
deletes entries and you have to start all over again.
limit internet
I, like you, want to make more money this year. . I am going to start by trying to limit my time surfing the net while working. . I have had a problem getting bored in the past. . but my resolution is to just stick to my 8-hour work day with maybe only 1 little internet break during the shift. .
If you retire and go on SS, there is a set limit--sm
you can earn per month, if you continue to work, or they will reduce your SS income per month by how much over the set amount you are allowed. NOT a pension retirement, SS retirement.
I don't think there is a time limit -
I live in Georgia also and the only reason we ever had notes on the charts was for insurance purposes. If the note is not transcribed, you are not supposed to bill insurance. Other than that, there is really no legal reason that the chart has to be dictated.

Now, ethically and for continuation of care purposes, yes, it needs to be done.

The doctor I worked for used to dictate, but it might get transcribed in a week and it might get transcribed in a month.
I got a face full of acne from their products....
along time ago. I can no longer use Marykay facial products. I also get cold sores from "all" lipsticks. I only know of one other person like this and she is a cousin of mine.
skin care products and allergies

I used another product that is sold on QVC by a lady doctor in September.  Overnight I developed a horrible burn on my face that nearly closed both eyes.  My skin was so red under my eyes that I looked like I had two black eyes.  I believe it was a chemical burn caused by some ingredient in that product.  It is now December 12, and I still suffer from a burning sensation and very red cheeks and sensitive eyes.  I have not used this product since that first episode, but I have used other products from other companies, with the same result.  I believe most of the upscale cosmetic and skin care products must contain the same ingredient that is too harsh for sensitive skin (obviously) and that may cause an allergic reaction.

I used bad judgment in not seeing a doctor with the first episode, thinking it would just go away.  Well it does go away and cycles and recycles again and again, with the same results.   I am not going through another cycle, and it is at the stage of just returning.  It will get increasingly worse over the next two or three days and then start to subside, leaving my skin feeling like leather, peeling slightly under my eyes.  I have bags under my eyes that I never had before.

I guess sooner or later I'll just get sick of all this and finally get a referral to a dermatologist before I suffer permanent, irreversible damage, if that has not already occurred.

I believe perhaps the ingredient is either salicylic, glycolic, or  lactic acid, which seems to be the hot ingredient in skin care these days.  I've used retinol products in the past without a problem, but I guess we can all develop allergies to anything.  I've also used glycolic acid cleansers in the past without a problem.  Again, allergies can certainly crop up in anything.

Incidentally, I have a friend who used Avon night cream recently who woke up with a face full of pimples, too!

wow, hard to believe that Mary Kay products would cause allergies - sm
when they test on animals!!!! They have voiced to the public that they WILL NOT stop testing on animals.

And before anyone jumps down my throat, I am being sarcastic about my subject line. The point I'm trying to make is that Mary Kay tests ALL OF THEIR products NEW AND OLD on animals. Part of their reason was to "prevent allergies in humans" .... rrrrriiiiggghhttt
