MT Word Seeker is cool :) I've tried others but found this one to be the best amongst them all.

Handy resource
A pretty handy tool to have.
Thankfully we are no longer classified as just clerical.
"Medical transcriptionists have finally achieved a separate job classification. The revised Standard Occupational Classification (SOC), published by the Office of Management and Budget, includes a separate line item 31-9094 for medical transcriptionists in the general arena of health care. This is something AAMT has been promoting since its inception over 20 years ago. In the previous (1980) SOC document, medical transcriptionists were grouped with court reporters and stenographers under "Clerical and Other Administrative Support Occupations." This separate classification is truly noteworthy. Having an ID number, medical transcriptionists can now be studied like any other occupation. Statistics can be gathered on numbers of MTs, salaries, etc." (from the AAMT website)
This is one of the good things AAMT has done for us and hopefully their continued work will elevate our profession further. We are now an apprenticeable occupation also (and only DOMESTIC workers can be apprentices --heh heh!).
evidently they moved ur post to the classified
.
The book comes with a CD that is just as handy as your MQ version.
I have e-mailed it to a couple friends, but it's probably a copyright violation if you would widely distribute it. IMO.
Credit cards come in handy during emergencies
I know a few people who lived off their credit cards when their savings ran out and they had no income for short periods of time.
Also, other investors might purchase your home. If you want to sell it fast, price it to sell, knock the profit down to 20-25 G.
Thank you! That's pretty handy and saves time! nt

Thanks MacroDiva - nice handy macro. (NM)

Re your normals: keep a list handy, name them with short names..sm
then use Control R after you have typed the normal name; i.e.: Dr. Joe Blow has a ROS that he uses all the time - name it JBROS or something like that, then in the document type JBROS and use the control R to bring it automatically in.
Heads up warning! A company called DictaCall posted a classified ad
Heads up warning! A company called DictaCall posted a classified ad here yesterday claiming great cost savings. After researching the company, I have found that the company is overseas in India and is offering the identical rate structure as another US voice service. There is absolutely no cost savings whatsoever and anyone using their voice system would be calling into a toll free number where the voice file would end up on a server in Calcutta, West Bengal, India.
What does this mean to you, the transcription service? 1. HIPAA compliance is compromised. 2. Your client information is at risk. Offshore entities can come in try to undercut you and take your business. 3. In case of outage, you're stuck if you can't get in touch with technical support.
I could go on, but I think you can probably see the same big problems that I see.
Have your medical dictionary handy while taking the multiple choice part of the test.(nm)

cherrypicking co-worker issue (meant to post it on this board instead of MQ board) sm...
I need opinions please...I work on a very small account with just a handful of ladies. Because of the nature of the software (trying not to get too specific here) we can see who is working online and what reports they are working on in real-time...
We have one cherrypicker on the account. Instead of using FIFO method, she retrieves the reports by author ID - usually picking the better dictators of course. She knows I busted her and she did admit to it in on our work e-mail (not too bright) which I am saving just in case she gets out of hand - so far I'm still able to make money since really most of the dictators aren't bad.
But every night it's starting to wear on me since she's screwing up turnaround time. I don't really want to cause a big uproar being that it is such a small account and I need to work with her almost every night usually one on one.
What would you all do? I want to handle this as delicate and professional as possible because we can't really afford to lose anyone on this account. In other words, I refuse to stoop to her level by cherrypicking right back.
My boss has asked me several times why so-and-so does so much more than I do...I just bite my lip at that point but one of these days I think I might explode and just open up a can of worms....
Definitely one of the other board's people who refer to those on this board as "holy rollers,&

Job Board ???
What happened to the Job Board that was at the top of the Job Seeker's Board? I have not been able to find it for several days. HELP!
It has been said MQ has own board here,
nm
new to the board
Just wanted some insight I guess on what the whole field is about, i.e. hospitals versus working at home, etc. I know that sounds broad, but there is so much info on here, it's hard to grasp it all.
On this board is the first I have ever
heard of this ASR. So, everybody will be doing this?
You will never believe it according to this board
but I am out of Amherst. Obviously, if you run out of work, it is not the MTs fault, but if the work is there and you can't be productive, I think there is a problem with the MT. I do run out of work as well, but I have never been on this board complaining about it. I find different times to work when the work is there to get my lines in. It is as simple as that.
See job board
There was a job for veterinary ophthalmology listed on the job board late last week, but I think they required a fair amount of experience...
