c-phone headset programming

In Reply to: dictaphone headset help - Dawn

I got this on 06/01/07 from MT Stars - here it is for you to program

Make sure the Dictaphone is plugged in and also into the wall phone jack.

Notice the display screen at the top of the Dictaphone, 3 gray buttons under the display.

Press the left gray button under the word PRGM.

The display will now read

PROGRAM

KEYS ID/TIME TEL

Press the gray button below the word KEYS.

The display will now read SELECT PROGRAM KEY.  At this point push one of the 16 black keys below the display on the telephone keypad.  If you are programming your headset for example, select any one of the 16 black keys that you want.  Press that black key.

The display will now say ENTER NUMBER.  For headsets programming #*11 (that is, the POUND key, the STAR key and then the number 11)

Now press the MULTIPLY KEY to the right of the telephone keypad.  This key says SELECT on top of it and has an X multiply function on it.

Press the STOP key to exit programming function.  The STOP key is located second from the right on the top row of the keys on the bottom of the C-phone.

Hope this helps.  I printed this out and this has been so useful, especially when unplugging the C-phone during electrical storms for a period of time and you lose the programming.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL

Programming C-phone

Hi everyone,

I purchased a Dictaphone C-phone off of EBay; however, it did not come with a manual. I am totally lost. Are they all the same when it comes to signing a job off, leaving a job open, fasting forwarding a job, etc.? Is this something you have to program into the phone? If so, can someone tell me how to program my phone for these different requests?

Programming C phone

The service you work for should be able to tell you the keys to push to sign off a job, etc. However, here is a link to the Dictaphone answer desk for more detailed instructions.

HELP ASAP; C-phone programming
I am supposed to take a test using C-phone using following keys: play 4; pause 2; rewind 7 and fast-forward 4.
Anyone know how I can get the dictator to slow down? It would surely help me. TIA!!
If you are talking about programming a c-phone
someone posted the directions a while back.  I have the directions, I cannot find them at the momment but if you will look and the 3 gray buttons below the screen push the one that says progm.  I believe from there it is self explanatory.  HTH a little.
Programming C phone in general
C-PHONE PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS

Note: The C phone mapping system may be different for each facility. Ask the supervisor/owner for the programming keys needed for each function. Sometimes you may find them on the face of the phone, under the plastic cover. There are 16 buttons available to program (1-8 down the left side and 9-16 down the right side)

You will use the function keys under the display window and the Select button (X) next to the number key pad.

On the C phone screen, there are 3 buttons below the display window. The messages in the columns above the 3 buttons are:

Time Date
Progm Msg Directory

Select the Progm button and the follow screen appears:

Progrm

Keys ID/Time Tel

Note: Put some thought into the Keys that are convenient or work quickly. For example, button 9 (top right side) may be the button to dial into the system; button 10 may be the ID number you key in to access work, etc.

To program the keypad, press PROGM—KEYS

The screen asks you to select a program key. Chose one of the 16 buttons.

The screen will ask you if you want to Revise the information there, press one of the 3 buttons in the message screen. We will select YES. Then enter your ID number or dial-in number etc followed by the #.

We now need to SELECT this choice as the final step for programming this button. The SELECT is on the right side of the phone number pad, the “X” key. Each time you program a key, the last step will be to press the SELECT key to end that function.

If you make a mistake during the programming process, just press the STOP key on the C phone pad and start over.

For each subsequent function you want to program, follow the instructions again from

Need some help with Dictaphone C-phone programming the foot pedal..... sm
I have a coworker that needs to program her Dictaphone foot pedal.  The foot pedal does not stop or start the dictation from what I understand.  It is a used unit with no manual.  I had a C-phone years ago but do not ever remember having to program my pedal.  Thanks in advance!
C-Phone Headset

Try re-programming it using one of the black buttons above the number pad.  I do not use the speaker/mute button for my headset but programmed it using the first black button at the top of the row on the left-hand side.  Try that and it should work without disconnecting you every time.  Hope that makes sense

C-phone headset question
Thanks so much!  With your post and the help of others we did figure out that I needed a phone splitter.  I plugged the splitter into the internet modem, dial out with a land line phone until I get a connection, pick up the C-phone, place the call on hold, and then hang up the land line and I'm in.  My next question is "How do you get your headset to work without the line being disconnected"?  I've already programmed my headset as #*11, as per the C-phone manual.  But when I select speaker/mute and press the program key for my headset the call is disconnected.  I guess I asking for the sequence of steps after my call is connected in order to get the headset to work without the call being disconnected.  Thanks!
C-phone - How do I get the headset to work?

Hi all!

My question is "When my C-phone call is connected what is the sequence of buttons that are pushed (in what order?) so that connecting my headset doesn't drop the call?"  I have a program button set up as #*11, as per the manual for my headset.  However, when my call is connected and I press speaker/mute and then the headset program key, or when I press the headset program key first, either way, my call gets disconnected.  Any thoughts of what I may be doing wrong?  Thanks so much!

I have heard that if a headset is used or a speaker phone--sm
this is what causes the static. again, this is just what I heard from my own coordinator when a hospital account was using her call in system and using headsets. It took alot to convince the doctors not to use them, and alot of reports with *holes* in them where the transcriptionists could not understand them due to the static. good luck.
LOL. That's funny. I like the retro cell phone headset. nm

Ladies!! My c-phone headset plug is not working!
I don't know what happened.  One minute it was working fine and the next day whenever I insert the headset I get no sound.  The footpedal works fine so it is not the power plug..only the headset and I also cannot get the speakerphone to work or I would use it this way.  It's one of the C-phones that have no display...I'm so upset.  I purchased it off of E-bay about 2 weeks ago for $150.  Any ideas of what I can do?  How to get the speakerphone to work.  Thank you!
Did not finish above...need to find a noise canceling headset for a C-phone, TIA
TIA/
It's basically a phone w/o the handle. Has number pads. A headset plugs into it sm
so you can listen to the dictation via a phone line. So, if you use one you will need 2 seperate phone lines unless you want your phone to be tied up all day.

Docs love it because they can just pick up the phone and talk their dictation right into the phone.

You would access those files by dialing a 1-800 number and then putting in your codes, etc., and then the voice file will be there; kind of like dialing into a voice message box to retrieve your messages except you are retrieving dictation instead. Very simple to use. GREAT quality. Excellent quality.

I am 99% sure I am taking a job I was just offered yesterday that requires the use of one. Right now I am on Doc-Q-U-Suck and can't wait to change.
A special phone w/a foot pedal and headset attached for dialing directly into a system. Google it!

Programming a dictaphone
I have a dictaphone, model 0421, which my company would like me to program to work with their Lanier system.  I have no idea on how to do this.  I tried e-mailing dictaphone and could not understand the instructions at all.  I am able to dial into their system however, my foot pedal works backwards.  This would not be a major problem, but my fastforward and rewind do not work at all which is a real problem.  Any ideas?
good HBO programming may not be...sm

Lanier programming help sm
When I dial into the hospital on my Lanier LX-219, I get the doctor's dictating system, which has a 4 digit code, instead of transcription.  The unit is set to slave mode.  Is there anything else I can do to fix this?  I haven't used it for awhile, but did use it before for transcription.  Any help appreciated! Thanks!
Lanier has propietary programming...sm
and therefore their equipment can only be used with Lanier equipment.
Need Help!! programming DVI for Dictaphone System
Can anyone tell me how to program a DVI transcriber for Dictaphone System. The documentation I have for my DVI says it is compatible with Dictaphone but when I try signing onto a Dictaphone system, nothing works - keys or foot pedal. Any suggestions?
Lanier Voicewriter programming
I've searched through the archives and found some good programming info on the Lanier voicewriter. However, I couldn't find what I need. My loving 17 MO son hit some keys and now I can't see the lower screen. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

C-phone used to call in to dictating systems to receive work. A special phone. nm

I had a lot of trouble with static in my C-phone. I replaced the phone cord and that made a big

difference.  Also, have you tried a different headset?  Also someone told me one time that there is a microphone under your volume control on the right corner of the C-phone.  It's a tiny hole.  If you break off a Q-tip and stick that into the hole that will squelch a lot of background noise and that worked as well.  As far as getting your C-phone service, I heard that Dictaphone is "sunsetting" C-phones at the end of this year.  Meaning, they aren't going to service them anymore as they are considered an obsolete technology.  So, I would contact Dictaphone and see what your options are.

I know very little about Lanier equipment.  I've not used it as extensively as Dictaphone.  Is there a local appliance repair place in your area?  You might ask one of those places to take a look at your equipment and see what they think.  Kinda scary, cause they could do more harm than good, but maybe worth a shot.

Not much help, I know.  But I thought I would share what tiny bit of obscure knowledge I do have.

I've changed them between an old phone and new phone, but the same company, i.e. Nextel.

I use my c-phone whenever we travel. You can hook it directly into your room phone. Be sure and as
xx
I think you can dial into most systems that require C-phone without having a C-phone nm
.
I am wondering if there is a way to use your C-phone with Vonage phone service?
??
May have to change phone companies, have switched to job using a C-phone. sm
Currently have Embarq (formerly Sprint), and my usage will be going up about 12,000 minutes a month.  What phone companies offer really unlimited for a flat rate?  TIA.
C-phone and ATT. There is no problem with the C-phone, but ATT wouldn't let me use unlimited.

I have cable phone access and my C-phone works - sm
I am not sure about you problem, because it sounds just like I have mine hooked up.  The only thing I can think of is that mine has 2 line hookups in the back of the phone.  If you have this too, I would just try the other one, which you probably have already done.  Sorry that was not much help.  I wish you luck
Need help with headset
My headphones are louder on one side than the other. I have tried different headphones, so I know it has to be the computer. Any ideas on how to change that? TIA!
actually it could be the headset as I have had this
happen before.  If the wiring in the headset gets messed up for some reason it can cause this.   Have you tried more than 1 headset?
Headset
Hello, For excellent sound quality I would suggest the SPUSB headset which can be found on our website at www.tvps.com.
also....about the headset
I quit playing CDs on my computer because it was such a hassle to swap out the headset for the computer speakers. I had to pull the computer away from the wall and bend and stretch as far as I could and then use a flashlight to find the hole to change change them. Plus, I had very little slack in the headset because my hard drive sits on the floor. I solved 2 problems at once: I went to Radio Shack and bought an 6-foot extender for 7 bucks. One end fits into the back of the computer, and the headset attaches to the other end. Now I can even leave my headset on when I stand up at my desk to reach the very top shelf to reach some of my more obselete references. In addition, I just swap the headset cord for the speaker cord to play CDs. Makes me a happy camper for sure!

Please help... need to know where to buy a new headset as I lost the paperwork for this pair.. my ears are killing me!!!!  Help!!!

Headset
I have tried so many, and I think the absolute best headset is made by Lanier Healthcare.  They have been purchased by Medquist, and you can either go online or call 1-866-542-7253 to order one.  The clarity is wonderful and they are very comfortable.
Headset for MT
I have tried a few different brands, but out of all of them my Koss DC/10 is the best. Good quality sound, light and easy on my ears for comfort.
OM headset
Thanks for the help. I had tried transcriptiongear.com but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. If I can't get that particular one from OM I'll call customer support at transcriptiongear and talk to them. Thanks again!
headset....
Do you use an 'adapter' to connect your footpedal to the modem port? Sometimes this minimizes the volume.

You might try to install to install a soundblaster
headset

Did you try transcriptiongear.com

or Google lanier headsets

Headset adapter
I have a stethoscope style Dictaphone headset with a dual-prong plug in.  I no longer need to use my C-phone, but love my headset, so I am looking for an adapter to make the dual-prong a standard single-prong plug in.  Dictaphone of course does not sell such a thing.  Does anyone have one and if so, where did you get it from?  Thanks!! :)
Looking to replace my headset.
I'd like to hear what everyone prefers for these.  I've tried all kinds but am not sure what I think are the "best."  I want good sound quality whether it's from my computer or C-phone and will be using them for both (unless I should have 2 different kinds).  At any rate, I'm curious what you all use or what you think are the absolute best.  Thanks.
Lanier Headset

Does anyone know where I can get a good price on a Lanier Stethoscope style headset (metal) - LX-10-35???   I have found these for $70, but maybe you might know of a better deal.   THANKS....

Usually when you plug in the headset
that automatically send the sound to the headphones instead of the speaker. This could be a DAC with a problem unless someone else knows a secret that I don't. Try a different headset and see if the results are the same.

First hit top row keys, left(program), left again (keys), then select the key you wish to use from whatever is available.

Hit keys in this order: pound key (#); star key (*); 1; and 1.

Then hit the multiplication key (x) on the right, then the stop key at the bottom. I hope these instructions are clear enough.
