I do both QA and MT and am very sensitive in my wording to MTs (though I can imagine there are some that don't matter how careful you are with wording--we all know people like that!).

I've also gotten incorrect feedback before, and it's annoyed the heck out of me. It's great when you can cite the source, but woe to you if you just have someone who doesn't care what the source says because they've always done it that way (sounds like your old supervisor)!
