You will run across some pretty rude people around here as you've seen...(sm)

but not everyone is like the one above.  Welcome.  I don't have any of my own clients, but the service I work for recently lost the account I worked on pretty much out of the blue.  It's a real shock to have the work yanked from you like that, and I agree it was pretty cowardly for the wife not to just come out and admit when you directly asked.  I don't know what to tell you but just wanted you to know that you can expect some real nastiness around here at times, but don't let it keep you away.

yes eye rolling but mostly the "shaddup" - pretty rude
response for just asking a simple question.
rude people? I would take good pay over polite people any day
Besides that they have never been rude to me and I have been here for almost 2 years. What do you consider a bad account?

I know my account is a little tough, but I am used to it. I am tough!
Rude people? I hardly think so. They are some of the nicest people I have ever worked with. sm
Not just management, but QA as well. No one is rude. They are a very understanding staff. There is one account that is hard but all it takes is getting used to it. Once you are used to it, it is no harder than any other ESL account that you would do anyplace else. I have heard all these things about TH from the archives and I have yet to come across rudeness or any kind of thing that I have read about in the archives. I would definitely pursue them if I were you. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
yep, people are rude

I've had many experiences in fast food with people thinking they can just talk to me any way they please because i'm behind the register and they are having a bad day.

One place was Dunkin Donuts.  This was my first week on the job (I lasted two weeks).  These drunk girls came in late one night, and thought it would be fun to pick out doughnuts, have me put them in the box, then change their mind.  I was back and forth with this for about 20 minutes, and they were having a good old time.  It was humiliating to say the least.

Another was at Jack in the Box.  Also my first week, they had me on the front counter AND drive through.  That night, unbeknownst to the manager, was the Garth Brooks concert.  It was me and the cook, and a line of cars wrapped around the place and in the front.  Anyways, since it was just me (getting the orders wrong left and right trying to go fast...people are so picky, wanting no pickle or pickle added, they do not know there is no key on the register for that, so I basically winged it)the people had long waits, and a very angry man and his son pull up and give me an ear full...WE'VE BEEN WAITING 20 MINUTES FOR A COKE AND A DIET COKE...just swearing, yelling, and was just in a rage over this.  I tried to apologize, nothing seemed to work, I couldn't calm this guy down.  He slams the money down in my hands, i give him his cokes and throw his change at him running out crying.  That was the last day I did fast food after working at it for about five years.

Working for the public really stinks, and its no wonder people at McDonalds are so darn rude, I really don't blame them!

Look who is rude here? You or People?
//
It is Aranesp...sorry for the rude people. nm

rude city people
I hear you....twice in the past couple of months I have caught two different SUVs driving through the brush our our very well posted private property.  Apparently, they see our property as an off road play land.  It certainly is frustrating.  I hope they put some scratches in their pretty city SUVs.  Wishing for a fence and electric gate or a moat and alligators.
That's very rude and offensive to many people (nm)
nm
Bad. Good pay, but bad accounts and rude people
stay away IMO
Yes people can be rude here, including yourself. You just called

Wow, I'm glad I'm not a newbie. You people are rude to newbies.

People will be rude, and impose themselves, as long as you allow it. Once you put your foot down, a
It's just that it's too easy to impose on you. You have to stop them, kindly but firmly. I'm working now, and I cannot do that for you. They learn, they learn.
I've seen some responses that were not rude but just simply
where the reactions were that it was rude and those reactions were indeed rude. I think that on the internet without the benefit of seeing a person's body language, people misconstrue what a poster's intent is and go down a line of thinking that wasn't intended. I tend to think everyone, at some time, contributes to the rudeness and by far this site is much less harsh than others.
You're rude. That being said... Some people just work alone for a couple doctors and don't

It was rude in nature. 'Thanking' people for cherrypicking was uncalled for.

No, out east ... lots of rude people running the show, it seems ... sigh. nm

I agree, nasty and rude people lately, where are the grownups is correct in a former post.
I agree with all you said. I come here sometimes just to share thoughts, experiences, and to really help others as it helps me to help. There are some unnecessary, hurtful responses on here. The admin cannot police all and she should not be expected to. Have a little consideration, people, we are all in the same lifeboat here. As for leaving the profession, think about it. I have been tempted many times, have tried working in other fields but totally boring after hearing all that I've heard as an MT. I can't read a non-fiction book as it all seems so shallow and ridiculous to me. For too many years I have shared the lives of people on a real, non-fictional basis through my work. It is an interesting and informative profession and even doctors are amazed at how much information I have  in this little brain of mine. I have on occasion saved many people in my family (including myself) from unnecessary harm or eary intervention. Please think about it before you leave us. As for this board, I llove it except for the nasty posts, but that's life. As we all know, it takes all kinds. Most people here belong in the helping profession. If they're in it for the money, it shows. Character shows up in the positive posts on here. We are, after all, supposed to be in the helping profession, not the kill or be-killed attitude some have. I would say most of us come in here for  knowledge, friendship and just plain sharing. If we have a little laugh once in awhile, it helps, but not when it turns into a cat fight. IMHO, of course!
That's pretty sad...almost every doc I know cares about people.
They usually get out of that *I'm doing this to get rich* phase during their residency.
You all are a pretty nice bunch of people, you know.
Donating to the kids of fellow MTs, taking the time to email people and encourage them on how to be better MTs.  I'm really touched.  This month has been pretty rough but y'all are certainly putting the reason for the season out there.  You'll never know how much one email can impact somebody's day.
I've done pretty darn well (sm)
with the book smarts!

Don't get so tweaked about a silly label -- having a high IQ just means I process stuff faster, remember more of what I'm exposed to, make more connections faster, and do well at taking tests.

I'm also a really nice person and an incredible parent.

Lots of MTs are smarter than the average bear.
I've lost track of how many people who've asked about it to NOT

How? I've done pretty well staying out of debt, but
I'd like to get some money set aside for retirement and pay off my home. Any advice you can give?
I've pretty much just done the informative part so far.
Download software, fill in personal information, sorting through receipts, printing off from my accounting program. I'm trying to do it a little bit every week instead of staying up all night to get it done.
Uh, no---wow thos 30% must be pretty shallow people-I went from a relatively short simple name - sm
to a slovic name, luckily very short too but confuses everybody and just about every either pronounces it wrong or spells it phonetically and puts in an extra letter (a "c"). I can live with it though I do correct everyone when they do it wrong.
I've been using it a few years now. It's pretty good. You'll get used to it. -nm

I've been letting them stay up pretty late, so they sleep until 10:00.
Still, they get bored in those two hours between getting up and my finishing work at noon.  Goofy kids.  I do have them in band, but it ends this week.  Maybe a day camp for a week or two.  I think I'll haul them off to the library for some books.  The only Y or rec program in town is in the rougher neighborhood, and they only offer certain scheduled classes.  Thanks for the tip!
I think I would refuse too. I've seen some pretty silly names here, including Why Worry Lane and

I've found this resource pretty useful for rehab work. Link inside.

Have this as one of my bookmarks - found this handy whilst handling rehab work. Hope this helps!

I've known people that had their CMT that did

really crappy work and not even sure how they got their CMT.   This one woman had had 6 jobs in less than 9 months and was fired from my company.   She seemed to think she was superior and she wasn't getting what she was worth becauase after all she had her CMT (which she must have said every other sentence), but in reality she did sorry work (at least she did for my company).

I have 20 years of experience and have no desire to get my CMT.  My MTSO said my work is excellent and that I'm paid at the highest rate that they pay and that having my CMT wouldn't make a difference.   Some companies say they pay higher for CMT, but most don't.

I've never understood why some people consider...

certain jobs to be more important than others.  The old cliche "Any job worth doing is worth doing well" comes to mind.

I believe that a person what does for a living doesn't have any bearing on how valuable that person is or how important that person is.  Some of the most wonderful people I've ever known don't have what some might feel are "important" jobs, but they are wonderful people nonetheless.

And, some people who have what some might consider higher class jobs (boy, I hate that outlook) are some pretty miserable human beings.

People are people . . . and their worth isn't tied to their job in my book.  I want to be a good person, and what I do for a job doesn't have anything to do with that.

If a store manager is a good person, doing a good job, he's  to me.

I wish some people would get off their high-horse!

I started posting as a former bank manager in a thread about consumer credit counseling.  It seemed relevant at the time.

You are all some of the most heartless people I've ever met. sm
I honestly can't believe some of the replies posted to me - this being one of them. You may not agree with my advice, but I saw the OP was in pain and I offered her a shoulder to cry on, and the best advice I know. Her original post made it sound like her and the children were truly in trouble, and I honestly tried to help. I shared what is probably the most painful thing to ever happen in my life, and your answer to that is to call me an idiot.

Let's get one thing straight here -- I was talking about actual abuse ... you know, the kind where he threw me across the front porch and broke 3 of my ribs. It didn't happen in front of the kids... it never did... he would never do that in front of them and tarnish his "image" .. but he did have a temper in front of them, and they saw that often enough.

I thought the poster was actually being physically abused, like her original post said. I offered her some advice. If you don't like it, I'm truly sorry for that. But I seriously can't believe what heartless, hurtful people you can all be. You actually made me cry... and believe me, it's not easy to make me do that anymore.
I've been told by recruiters and HR people that
they've never met anyone who scored 100% before.  I did!  Poor little uneducated lifeguard me.  No little MT certificate.  Oh, no!
There's one thing that I've seen stop many many people....
A heart attack or cancer.  My father-in-law SWORE he could not quit not matter what, but had a coronary and that was his last cigarette.  My own father quit cold turkey after 3+ packs a day when he began coughing so hard he couldn't catch his breath.  I've also known people who had a cancer scare and were able to quit.  If nothing else, FEAR will do it.  Unfortunately, waiting for the fear might be too late for many.
I've told about 100 people total. THEY DON'T
nm
I've worked for companies that needed people
specifically to do certain reports.  I have been hired to exclusively do ERs and discharge summaries before.  It wasn't cherry picking either.  They needed someone to catch up their backlog and keep the reports within TAT permanently.  Evidently, other people were cherry picking and bypassing these report types because they're not as good of money makers as Ops or H&Ps.
I refuse to go to Imail...I've gotten a virus from there and so have many other people. nm
,,
I've seen people put a sign up that says "OUT OF CANDY"
and that usually does the trick.
I do. I've worked closely with these people for years,
nm
I've heard people have to try a new food 10 times before they know for sure they won't like it
I heard that somewhere.

I had a SIL who actually SAT on her young children and force-fed them new foods if they refused them at the table. We were appalled, but weirdly, the kids often got up from the floor and happily ate the food they were just force-fed!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - animals know things people don't.
nm
Please, guys, surely you've seen these people's work SM
and are appalled at the very low quality. When training, I worked alongside one of them. The quality was atrocious, but she put out vast quantities of it, moving many reports a day for the hospitals and making lots of money for herself and her employer, so her job was actually very secure in spite of the many complaints that came in from the unfortunate clinicians who received her work.

But her speed cannot even begin to compare with that of a computer, or couldn't. I imagine she's safely retired now and doesn't have to face the change-or-get-out that will be required of other content slobs.
I've had people tell me that I would need to wait to have my questions answered until I worked...

for them.  What???  How would I know if I want to work for them if they don't answer my questions.

Go figure.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I've seen quite a few names, first and last, of people
mgmt on this board in the past, in similar situations, which is why I felt I could post this question. I certainly don't think I was not being tactful to the people I asked about, as I complimented them and enjoyed working with them. I wouldn't mind my name being on this board if someone said something nice about me.
I don't know! I've heard people live longer with a healthy sex life.

I am NOT lying! It's the truth. I've received solicits from at least 8 people overseas.

I think I'm pretty bright and pretty good, too, but
I am not a CMT. I am a medical transcriptionist who enjoys her job very much (most days). I have chosen not to pursue certification simply because I cannot afford to do so. I believe the certification is a nice thing to have, but I don't believe it is necessary for employment or for excellence in my job. If you can afford it, go for it. If you can't, don't feel too bad. You can still take pride in and do a very good job without it.
if you live among trashy people, low income people, people w/o goals or direction,
content to just get by, you by default become a part of a group. "people" have decided to group trailer people as trash. that is because there are enough people in that group to earn the title and even if you aren't trash, you are categorized by others. did i think i was trash in lower class neighborhood surrounded by people who drank and fought all weekend? no but i knew i wasn't staying and did not try to pretend that all the fools in the neighborhood were just nice folks who ended up where they were because high horse snobs deemed their neighborhood low class. people for the most part live exactly where they belong because they don't want to educate themselves, they don't mind "trash" around them and they don't want to be bothered trying just a bit hard to extract themselves from that world. they justify everything to themselves i guess saying everyone who doesn't like their lifestyle is a snob and the comedians (Jeff Foxworthy/Chris Rock, etc) who make fun of them are just ill-informed.

As for me, I fought hard to get out and don't even want to look back. It amazes me people stay for generations.
I use EXText with my current job and I've used at a couple of other jobs I've had. I've ne

used DocQscribe, but I have used Meditech, Cerner, Vianeta, the Precyse platform (I can't remember the name), Dolbey, and  Lanier platform I think was called Cequence (?).

Out of all the different platforms I have typed on, I have liked EXText the best.  In my opinion, it's very user friendly, easy to learn, and I really like ESP which is the built in abbreviation expander.  Plus it is very easy to create your own normals which I love.  My fingers literally never leave the keyboard because there are macro keys for everything.  You can use your mouse if you prefer or learn the function macros.  I love it.  I think I'm more productive on EXText than with any other platform.

Not so sure if it is rude...
A lot of these places just seem extremely disorganized, a real mess. I had 2 places "hire" me for part time work and never got employment papers, contracts or anything until I finally had to ask. Ultimately I did not take either job, cause I figure if they cannot get this together, what happens to the paychecks?
How rude!
You'll be one of those "old, half crippled" MTs one day, young whippersnapper.
