Hussein is not the only person who has killed thousands of people in the country he rules.  If this is justification for sticking our nose where it doesn't belong, why have we ignored the tortures and genoicides in Africa for the past 3 decades?  Oh, right - they don't have any oil, do they?  Just poor, starving, desperate people that we continuously turn our back on, like Rwanda.

who have no home, nothing but the clothes on their backs, their pets are probably dead, loved ones may have died, cannot get to work even if they had a job before, living in unfavorable conditions for an unknown period of time, but probably months.  Don't need gas because they don't have a car, or no longer have a car. 

Maybe people will stay home more and realize that all this busyness isn't go great, that being with family, playing board games, having dinner together is more rewarding. 

Maybe because I've always had a knack for understanding foreign accents since I was a kid.  Why I don't know. Maybe because I was an "Army brat" until I was about 6 years old and my dad would always tell stories and jokes in different accents and I have relatives in Canada, both French and Scottish.

Whatever it is that makes me understand, I still have a problem with the docs that sound as if they're halfway through a bottle of scotch and then get to ROS and turn into Speedy Gonzales and do the whole ROS in one breath.

If you've been an MT as long as I have (going on 20 years, ugh) you can pretty much figure out what they're going to say anyway and know enough to leave the "S" of  "Patient(s) is a 20-year(s) old male.

tied to your desk 24/7, not see your family and then if you do you're too tired and cranky to enjoy each other, have no other life, don't mind a messy house, etc. I wouldn't do it. 

You just cannot be productive working this much and especially if all 3 formats are different, plus you'll have to learn new docs, etc., so you will actually be working more hours and making less money, not to mention the stress.   You might could do it for a couple of weeks until you could get a feel for what jobs you like best, but any more than that and it is just too much.

It's ridiculous when you put it that way, isn't it?  In my opinion the MTSOs and the QA people who work for them have gone way over the top.  I've worked both in the hospital and at home for the MTSO and I can tell you the HIM Director at the hospital and the docs at the hospital could care less if you forgot your period.  When QA tells you that they have had complaints from the client, it's a bunch of garbage unless there are blatant errors such terminology misuse, mispellings, drug dosage errors, etc.  The are absolutely NOT complaining about your missing period.  It sounds to me like the QA department where you work is just looking for every little error they can find.  Some QA editors are on power trips and love to ping you.

I wouldn't worry about it at all.  Use your Expanders like the others suggested.  You could proofread everything you type, but it's easier and more productive to pay attention as your typing. 

I've been working at home as an employee for over a year - using a style that was provided by the employer - now I have received a message that the style is switching to AAMT styleguide which is different from what I have been doing.  Has this happened to anyone else?  Just wondering why anyone would change midstream.  This is an old account and I don't know if there were complaints or if the style is being dictated by the company or the physicians - who don't really use any kind of style - we just try to make it uniform. 

I've been typing for the same clinic for the past seven years.  Our policy is to make all sentenses as complete as possible to make for better reading.  

I'm going to test tomorrow for a part-time job with another company.  My question is, do I type it like the doctor says it or do i make complete sentenses?

Example:

Doc says "patient has CLL."

I usually would type "The patient has chronic lymphocytic leukemia."

is a pollen allergy treated the same as a drug allergy, caps and bold?

The cardiologists I have worked with over the years preferred Roman Numerals for murmurs, however, all that changed when The Book of Style came out indicating to record murmurs with numbers not Roman Numerals.  I even had a few cardiologists state, put the murmur in Roman Numerals.
