The worst case I had was when my sister and I were in business together - I happened to get a dictation for a man who had molested my sister when she was younger.  I had called the office and asked that if this particular patient had ever come into the office again that they please be sure to notify me (I would split the work up between me and her), so that I would be sure to get the tape and not her.  The administrator told me that this was not possible and I feared that my sis would end up with his reports.  I eventually gave up the account for this reason.

Another time I had gotten my uncles report and he was seeing the doctor for Viagra.....i just wanted to die!!!

 line expectations/requirements up to 1800 a day, the QA/editors I saw expectations 3000 a day, 2,3,4 cents a line. 

What do you suppose this comes out to hourly, say 4 pages an hour, 35 lines/page times 140 lines an hour, say 6,7,8,9. And, now what are the requirements.

.I see where they expect/require the MTs to pay for just everything, THEIR costs to do business.  Recently saw -- need 3 phone lines, provide at your cost, long distance plan buy this and that. Nonsense. .

After all this output who knows if in 30 days either side wants to continue relationship and look at all the money and equipment, Lanier $250 footpedal, thousands on some type of Lanier equipment LX something, 500 deposit to return in 6 months, this is nothing more than free interest loan for the business to fund their equipment purchase. 

There is a lot of anger, frustration and disrespect out there, you can tell by the ads posted, a slave-like attitude toward the MTs.

Frustration/anger fosters errors.

AND, look at what the MTs have to put up with in terms of dictation, if we can't hear how to make production and accuracy. It is, anything goes, take a deep gulp and see if you can finish report before you need to take another breath.  Dictate at live football games and "whisper" Intentional speed dictation because they don't want to say it again, no matter how many times yuu rewind, can't make out the dictation.  Anything goes, just dictate dear doctor, just dictate, we expect/require 99.5% accuracy.

Yep, I too am frustrated and saddened.

What could be done is--- nicely state on ads, be sure and run a spell check, "smile"---- problem solved ----instead of the disrespect you feel..

I keep looking at lap tops, but I don't understand a lot of the language.  Just computer challenged, I guess.

What is the difference between AMD Sempron, AMD Athlon and Intel Core processors?  These are the ones I find on Dell that still have Windows XP.  What is the difference between the SDRAM size at 533 MHz and 667 MHz. Hard drive speed 5400 RPM and 7200 RPM (I have a vague idea about that)?  What is considered acceptable for doing MT work?  How do you tell the speed of the processor, and does this mean the surfing speed and the speed work can be uploaded and downloaded?  I really feel lost here!!!  TIA.

This is the 2nd time this has happened.  Believe me, in the olden days when autotext was all there was I had a WAY bigger file, now it's gone.  Not autocorrect, mind you, I use the ESP for that, but the autotext.  It just makes life so much easier. 

The payment's not that big on it, except when there's a mixup at the bank and they deduct one check twice with the same amount and same check number.  It just feels like the money mojo magnet is gone from my life this week!  LOL  Everything seems to go wrong all at once.

Full-time IC is a term that seems contradictory to me.  I thought an IC was expected to have more than one "client", at least per IRS expectations, so how does an MTSO get away with requiring an MT's undivided attention as an IC?  It seems that MTSOs have a different set of rules....and we are the ones who allow it.

Has anyone out there addressed this issue with either a potential client and/or the IRS?  If so, what was the outcome?  I'm thinking of filing a complaint and just need some feedback to determine if it is worth my time and energy.

How do you make any money???? Typing and shortcuts is not the problem but trying to figure out some of what the dictators are saying is time consuming... How do you make money????????????

Though I love the research and find this interesting 40.00 a day is not going to cut it... Does it get better?????  I feel stupid !!!!!!!!!!!!!

in IT, it peters out after approximately four to five words, ending up with mumbo jumbo for the last few words.

What could I do to correct this?  Any IT experts reading the board today?
