You say you have only been doing this

I think it takes a while to get your skills and speed up.  Also, in this profession, I have seen wages drop gradually over the past 20 years I have been involved.  I used to make big bucks, but not anymore.  I know people at WalMart that are making more than seasoned MTs.  Yes, some do make good money, but I don't think that is the norm. 

No wonder they (AAMT, statistics, MT companies, etc.) say there is a shortage of experienced MTs. There is just a shortage of folks who want to do a job that takes such skill and knowledge at such low wages.
