I took a stupid test and the sound was
horrible plus I did not have cable internet then. Supposedly I failed but they would not tell me what I had wrong. I took a written and actual dictation of about five charts. I have 18 years of experience, but I got a stupid letter from them saying to retest when I had more experience. Gosh that was insulting.
Not to tell you what you missed also didn't mean anything to me. It took me about four hours to do that test and I did it after putting in a full eight-hour day too.
I mean get real.
If I am given a sudden oral exam, I get flustered and can't remember, so I think you should account for that and give that person every opportunity to get calmed down. I remember one person asking me about ORIF which I knew but locked up on. I felt so stupid because I knew what it meant.  .
I do not want to sound stupid, but what constitutes "acute care" when it comes to ads asking f
MTs who can do acute care transcription. I thought acute care was ER reports, or anything that required immediate medical attention. Is this right?
You guys sound more thoughtful than most here...
Of course most coding will be point-and-click to computer, but don't you think the EMR will allow a broader range of medical record work to be done remotely?

From MT to QA, thank you for all of the good work that you do. Know that you are appreciated. When you send one of us constructive feedback that enables us to continue to train our ear it makes us a better MT and motivates us to try even harder the next time.

by intention or accident. That was not in my post whatsoever, so learn to read.
What I said is true -- and the posts above just proved it. It doesn't matter if they owe you money or not, you're going to gripe about it. There's nothing anyone can do to change the past. They found a discrepancy, no matter how or why, and they are righting it by sending the money that is owed. That is the RIGHT THING TO DO...it is also the LEGAL thing to do.
You were po'd because you felt cheated on your pay so you griped. Now you're getting that discrepancy paid to you, so you gripe. You gripe because they didn't make changes. Now they are and people are still griping.
The whole start of my post was directed at the idiot who was complaining over the letter - the letter announcing upcoming changes, whining because it didn't include SEs (in her severely compromised comprehension). I responded to that.
I didn't say anything about defending their actions other than they are making a wrong right by paying money that is owed. They are legally obligated to do so. And no one is relieved about it regardless.
I'm saying what many of us feel and that is if you don't like MQ GET OUT. If you aren't leaving, SHUT UP. It's a good thing we work remotely -- the pathetic pitiful peons who can do nothing but drag their hind end around on the ground whining, "look what happened to me" don't seem capable of saying, "Hey, I'm not going to take that. I'm outta here. I don't think you're treating me fair so adios MQ." Instead, they have to just continually lurch around with their bellyaching and griping and try to keep everyone feeling like they do. They LOVE to feel upset. Makes 'em feel justified in some sick way. Justified perhaps because they're not able to do anything else maybe. Who knows why? Who cares? I don't.
I'm tired of hearing the griping about a situation you're doing nada about. Shut up and do your work -- maybe you'd have some MONEY in the bank then. Otherwise, ship your worthless self out to sea and find new populations of people to cry to.
As for your "...it is not the people on this board who short-changed their people..." remark...you are WRONG. By continuing with a company that they believe is doing them wrong, they are short-changing themselves and their families -- their kids, their husbands, their relatives, their friends. EVERYONE. You have a responsibility to not be poor, provide for your family ADEQUATELY and BE HAPPY. When you don't take care of that situation at work and feel that way, it bleeds over into your life every other way. I bet you people are a JOY to live with. What a horrible negative environment to live in.
I usually let this crap on this board roll off my back. It's usually good for a few laughs. I'm not angry but rather tired. Tired of having to wade through the mires of people who have imprisoned themselves. If MQ did you wrong, GET OUT. If any of these companies did you wrong, GET OUT.

Lately, coming here is like jumping into what appears to be a nice cool lake to enjoy a good relaxing swim only to get out and find there's hordes of blood-sucking leeches on you. It's really pathetic and it's that way because you won't get over what has happened.

I agree that everyone has a different experience but you know what? You seem all too familiar now with MQ at least and you are still there -- voluntarily. No one makes you stay.

I'm suddenly a "mom" again at the age of 45 when my daughter got tired of playing mommy and I don't know where she is now. I was one month in with a new company, who has been very supportive of what I'm doing, but it is a lot different since I didn't have 9 months to prepare for it. I'm getting into a routine of working before she gets up, when she naps and at night she does get her Barney and other videos where she is actually learning things BUT, I am losing sleep, I don't feel comfortable letting the TV babysit and I don't have a support network. I'm single, no family.
She will start in a mother's day out program 3 days a week next week and I think I can put together a reasonable schedule until August when she can go 5 days a week, 5 hours a day.
I don't feel guilty for my decision and don't feel "strangers" at daycare will be giving kisses that I should be giving. Why is it that in Europe several generations of a family raise the new ones and everyone in the villages know everyone and help out but not here in the US and then people demean those who use daycare. The support network is different and lacking in this country.
Sorry, I'm weary...going to bed if I can get princess to agree...
I certainly hope no one in your family ever needs defending. You might pack up and leave them too.

All the positives you post are "family", "family", "family". Its just like family, everyone is so close its just like family, etc. EXACTLY - its your kids real family, cause that's who they are with for the most part, that's who they are BONDING with. The day care is THEIR FAMILY, and you could be the family. The only family, cause you apparently work at home! You just don't get it! So, you put them in day care, and feel so relieved because its a "good" day care, cause its JUST LIKE FAMILY!! Its so ironic that you can't see the travesty of your own words. Well, at least their DAY CARE family wants them: 1. the adults sure do, cause you're paying them $$ to be "family", and 2. the peer group (other kids) sure want them, cause their "real" family has stuck them in day care, too!! I just so wish that some of you would realize the logic of NOT sticking your kids in day care when you COULD have them home with you. Its so sad.

Has anyone disconnected the internal sound card and replace with another sound card?
I am having problems with my sound on one of my computers. Several different ExText program have been on it so I don't think it is the program and the sound is just now as clear as on my other computer. Has anyone switched (disconnected the internal sound care and replaced) to a new sound card? Did it make a difference.

got an E-mail from Chase - the credit card company. I do have a credit card with them that is paid in full and I'm fixing to cancel. Anyway the e-mail was addressed to valued customer, which should have been the first clue. It was offering to credit my account $20.00 for answering 6 questions about their supposed new and improved website. At the end of the questions they wanted my ID, password, account #, etc. Now you'd think they know this information if I had an account with them - LOL. Of course I didn't fall for it, though I'm sure there will be many who will.

If they were devoted to MTs, apart from patient care & safety they would be advocating for us by emphasizing to hosptials admins and risk management and insurance companies about the legal protection that error free accurate reports provide. They would be emphasizing the value of what we are offer/our product instead of working against us.

I was stupid enough to take a job QA job...
making 3 cents per line. I thought it would be just filling in blanks so it would be okay and I was tired of typing. Well they wanted me to do 100% QA for 3 cpl! The MT's work that I was QAing were making 3cpl for VR editing. So basically, I'm making the same thing as them, expect I'm having to correct their work, provide them feedback, field emails from the MT's all day answering questions from the feedback that I gave and all for 3cpl. So basically, I was making less than the the MT's. I told my boss I needed a raise or I would just go back to being an MT b/c I could make more money doing that. She wouldn't give me one. Even after I told her that it took me 6 hours to get to 1000 lines in QA one day b/c of all the terrible MT's she hired and bad reports I was correcting. So what's that $30? I made way less than minimum wage! She didn't even respond to me.
I see job ad's here ALL the time from TTD saying they are paying 3cpl for QA. I emailed them to see if it was 100% QA and she said yes. Unbelievable.
It really makes me sick how MT's are so taken advantage of and so underpaid.
I would say on average, an MT would edit 300 lines an hour. That's decent. I would be offended if someone offered me 1 or 2 cpl for VR. Do the math. 3 cpl is too low IMO.

Why can't the cruise ships come in and get these people? I know there was a port in the area, so the cruise ships have got to be somewhere nearby. They could let everyone use the facilities, rest, relax.
I know, it's probably about the expense and loss of income to the cruiselines, but why not? These people are going through so much.

All I did was line AAMT's coffers. I no longer belong to AAMT nor do I keep up my CMT credential. Has not hurt one bit professionally. Please point out something positive that AAMT has accomplished for our profession. All CMT does is provide AAMT with more money for their dog and pony show. AAMT? No thanks! We need someone who REALLY represents the day-to-day MT, not a select few.

Not everybody is so mindlessly stupid that they have to
act out the things they see and hear. I listened to all sorts of music growing up, but I've never been a drunk, promiscuous or druggie. My parents gave me credit that I brains enough to make the right choices, and I proved to them that I did. My kids all have good heads on their shoulders, too. You can't lock them in a windowless cage to shield them from the world. Actually, that is considered child abuse and irresponsible parenting.

I'd like to see you bust your butt to do all the things involved to secure a good account and then see how YOU react when some/a bunch of airheads do lousy work, with the end result being all your hard work, expense, and time away from your family that you put into securing that account fly right out the window. Does anybody know how to keep these ridiculous emails from coming? It seems like every day I'm getting more and more of them, you know, the ones that have absolute nonsense in the subject line? I don't read them, just delete them, but I must get 15 or 20 a day and I'm sick and tired of it. I feel like my privacy is being invaded, and it is just junk filling up my mailbox.
