I am going to be 65 in March. I do know this, after this year (my property taxes are about 2500.00 per year)next year they will be around $800. The sharp decline is because most of the taxes are for schools and I guess they figure after 65 no school aged children. You must live in an expensive part of the country- 2000 a month sounds like a lot for a single only. Can you get a cheaper place? I know years ago I had not much money and wsa not getting help from a husband at that time- I bought potatoes, beans, rice-it may not be steak but by golly it got us thru. I wish you luck. It is hard to have to pay out so much of what you earn (and the way MT rates have gone down over the years doesn't help.)
