Usually, it is a system-wide choice SM
that was made and the hospital (one that is part of a greater health care system) must go with the vendor chosen by the system.

Try doing a search on your normal.dot file (sm)
If you have more than one of them, it could be conflicting and causing your Word to run slow. I rec'd an error msg about not having enough memory. My dearest friend spent hours helping me to figure this out. If that is the problem, you need to be sure to save one of them and delete the others. Before you delete anything, be sure to add a word into your autocorrects, save it, and then save that normal.dot so you do not lose all of your autocorrects. Hope this helps.
Do a search to see where the file is located on your hard drive.
Make note of the full location name. Next, in ES, choose Load and go to the above-noted location to find the file. Hit the Load button and you're in business.
Ctrl/S gives you the search function. Put in the names where appropriate and find a file you

Do google search for Switch Sound File Converter...
and follow instructions - VERY easy!
Only if you have a backup of your normal.dot file. System Restore will not

You might have to do a system restore to the time before she sent file. Vista is still too buggy

It is MQ-wide for DQS users?
Well, I sure would hope it would be for SE's too, as some of us also use DQS. I havent heard anything, nor gotten a letter or check..Im wondering is it MQ-wide? All of MQ that uses DQS? Or could it be just certain regional offices did not have the count of lines set up right?

Putting patient versus The patient (sm)
When did this "rule" come about? I've been an MT/Editor/medeical records tech/ART for 30 years - Never, ever was I told to put that. You cannot make the sentence be "The patient sent to Radiology" but you can put "Patient sent to Radiology."
Thats just insane.
What letter? And is it company wide
or just in a certain office?
I don't live in a double wide
Oh honey, you got it all wrong. I have the TRIPLE WIDE right next to YOUR DOUBLE WIDE.
Don't be jealous and all because you don't got the triple wide!!!
21 wide screen and I love it!! (nm)

My eyes are wide open. Believe me, I know his
faults better than anyone. I can't keep religion of it, though, because it is a huge part of my life. It's not a crutch, it's simply a way of life. I, too, wish you the best. I know we all have our opinions and may not always agree, but that's okay, too. I hope you have a happy 4th, too!
Now my momma used a 3" wide wooden cheeseboard on our
behinds. That puppy hurt!
The worst? pretty wide claim.

I LOVE my wide screen. I will never go back. That being said....
I had to do some tweaking of the settings. I went to START, display, and then the setting tab (far right hand side). I have my screen resolution set on the 2nd notch from the word "less" on the left hand side. That is my home monitor.
For work, I have the same resolution setting and then, because we use Chartscript.NET, I can set my resolution different than the default and I set it at 105. That seems to work best for me.
I have also tried maximizing and minimizing the window sizes too. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. I think you need to tweak your settings until you find the one that works best.
Rename your normal.dot file to something else then restart Word. It will create a new file.

You undercut yourself, which drives prices down industry-wide. sm
For a hospital, NEVER go under $0.16 per line to start. Most will want to negotiate and the lowest should be 0.14 per line.
I think it is the same type of file, so rename it and replace your autocorrect file with your DQS us

Help..I lost my word file. How can I retreive a file that has been changed? sm
I was working on a large file and had saved it in Word. I then went back to work on the file and hit a key that made the page go blank. When I went to close the document it asked me to save any changes on the document. I answered yes, and now when I click on that document it is all blank! Shouldnt the previous info saved be there, even if the current stuff is not? Please help me!! Thank you
Depends on the file format of the Short Cuts file.
ShortHand comes with a utility file that can import various formats. You can get that file with the trial download of SH.

you can expect 12.00 - 15.00 hour average, pretty much nation wide.

i was taught opposite, lol, but then at another company they preferred all disc; wide varieties. n

Well, it is called the World Wide Web! Sorry, your post made me laugh! No offense... but duh! nm

You can save the SH file in a text file and import to IT that way. sm
You may have to do some cleanup in the SH text file, but it sure would be faster than re-entering them all manually.
File taxes under the name on file w Social Security....
Name on W2 doesn't have to match, but your tax return has to match SS records. They don't want your marriage license or anything else. Did that for 13 years as instructed by IRS. Didn't have to change it with SS until state changed rules requiring drivers license to match SS records. Still use my maiden name in some limited circumstances.
It's pretty much world wide that if you have no body you have no crime. Scott Peterson was arrested
Laci's body was found, NOT BEFORE. Not rocket science here. How to you prosecute someone w/o a dead body?
an .exe file is not a voice file
I'm no techie, but it sounds like they might've sent the wrong file by mistake. Or could it be a program you need for testing/working for them that they sent? What is the name of the file (if it is something you can say here)?
Is the patient
x
patient name
It's surprising your company lets you put the name in the report. The trend has been to use "the patient" instead of the name.
The patient is...
The patient is a 2-month-old elephant.
The patient is a 2-month-old infant.
Work from India.
The patient will . . .
be maintained on a clear liquid diet. He is specifically instructed that beer does not constitute a clear liquid. (pt in for alcoholic gastritis) Still chuckle every time I think of that one!
Also that few MDs can say a patient is
slurring without stuttering or slurring the word, "slurring."
the patient
The client preference is to type "the pateint" To be even more exact, my account instructions state: "NEVER put patient's name in the body of the report, even if it is dictated. Always put 'the patient.'"
Usually if it's a no patient name
allowed either.
yea, but me as a patient...
when i asked to have copies of my medical records, i was APPALLED at the crap that was in them, by this I mean the errors ran rampant throughout, even if it was just a capitalization error, or incomplete sentences (which i consider errors).
I did not like what I saw at all, but would the average person care, if it doesn't change the meaning?
Patient logs
We are required to do a log for each batch of reports that we do. I will fill the info on the report and then control + end to the log and record the same info. Says time for me at the end of the whole document.
Patient info?
Where is my post on typing in patient information???????????
It took me 30 minutes to look-up a patient.

All FIVE of the patient's extremities....
Okey, dokey. This one's American, too.
Yes, and patient demographics.
I'm not going to compare myself to others, though. I've made a lot of progress, and that's all that counts. I've only been on this account for three months. Who's to say what I'll be able to do next year?
My doc would put that patient on protinix --nm

patient names
This is a problem that I am currently struggling with. My accounts are not 'searchable' and some docs don't spell out the patient's names. I have QC'd these many times with a note AND my e-mail address asking QC if I should be sending all these reports to them minus the patient's name, or send it to them GUESSING the spelling, or just spell the names phonetically and NOT QC them. About 15 requests now, and NO REPLY!! Very frustrating!!! Otherwise, the account is really good. I am new, so did not realize that other platforms gave credit for footers, headers, etc. I know on DQS you get a fair line count on just the body of the report. Don't know about the rest.
when I can't figure out the patient name (sm)
I just leave it blank because, like the other post said, I cannot get any feedback on what is protocol, so I make up my own. I aint gettin' paid enough to fool around trying to figure out what the dumb doc is saying!
Wow, I think I have PMS or something..I don't usually gripe this much!
Patient Names
You'd be surprised how many facilities have the patient's name on the report. Its not that uncommon. Depends on the facility and the company you work for.
No patient transfered to the LSU
I'm in the procedure section where I cannot abbreviate...Help
RE No patient transfered to the LSU
ICU or CCU maybe - Intensive Care Unit, Coronary Care Unit, can't guess what LSU is in relationship to other than what was said above about football.
