Download Express Scribe, it's free, when you download the voice files you will listen to....
them in Express Scribe and you can set your footpedal up. I forget where the downloaded files go, can't remember if you can put them where you want them but I would have to search for them to download to Express Scribe - maybe someone else can tell you how. It is much better than what you are doing.
Express Scribe is a free player...
which lots of us use, just Google express scribe and you will be able to find plenty of sites ot download it from.
For the other items you might try the "classifieds" right here on MTStars, ebay or Craigs list. Good luck!
Download Express Scribe for free.

You can download Express Scribe for free, but I would
suggest waiting on the foot pedal. If you need to do voice files for testing you can using hot keys - slower, but saves you from buying something that will stay in the closet. You may need a C-phone but I never heard of a company providing one. Sometimes the company will provide a foot pedal too.
Express Scribe is free, download it at

Download express scribe for free
Not sure if it does the files you need but a quick check of their program will tell you. Google it.
You can download Express Scribe for free.
This program has programmed hot keys (the F keys) to do the same things a foot pedal would. A foot pedal does make the going easier. You could try ebay or do a Google search to find a foot pedal that is within your price range.
try express scribe you can download for free. what type file is it?nm

You need something to play the files like free download of Express Scribe. Need to play with your
s
You can use Express Scribe (or other player)
With the latest update - 4.91 - you cannot use any player other than the one that is built in. Also need a USB pedal.
You use your own player, i.e. Express Scribe
An FTP site is where the voice files are uploaded. Normally, FTP is where you get the voice files to download to your player. Then, you type in Word, and then you upload your Word files (transcription) back to the FTP site. It's not a transcription platform. I'm no expert though, but I've used FTP sites. I hope this "kinda" helps. The other thing you could do is Google FTP sites and see if you can get a better explanation.
Player other than Express Scribe
Does anyone use their windows media player to play transcription files? Does this work well for you? What other players would you suggest?
The Express Scribe player uses hot keys.
It takes some getting used to but in your situation, it may be what you're looking for.
Gear Player vs Express Scribe
could anyone please explain to me the difference between these two?? Express Scribe is free, but when am I missing something as to why I would pay to have Gear Player? they seem awfully similar..thanks.
Express Scribe, Gear Player, etc.
I have used Express Scribe for years and love it. I had to restore my Win XP computer and now it will not play the .dss files. I also have Express on my Vista without problems. I have done everything that I know to do to get it to work, installed an older version, downloaded the .dss files, etc. I am currently having to work on Gear Player or use my laptop to play the sound files. What else is everyone using out there besides Express, Gear, or Bytescribe?? Any help would be appreciated!
download Express Scribe NM
:
So if I download Express Scribe on my laptap and then...
hook up to my home PC with gotomypc.com I should be able to play files that are on my home PC?
Thanks. I'm having a hard time figuring this out.
You can have Express Scribe download directly for you.
Under Settings, Automatic Incoming, click Add and use the FTP info you've been given to set up. Make sure your file type is checked. Also, one complaint with this program is that it does not download .dss files.
Does anyone know how to make Express Scribe default player for .wav files? TIA.....nm
xx
Can you download Express Scribe and see if you can get your pedal to play through that? nm

Heads up folks! I use Express Scribe wav player, but don't waste your money on their other
paid for products because they're buggy and have horrible customer support! I bought Express Dictate for my doctors and Express Delegate and I have had nothing but one problem after another. Forget calling, that's not an option. I have emailed until I'm blue in the face and the "support" I get are canned responses and they do not address the problems I'm having. They have a forum you can post on, but no one ever posts responses. My client has been extremely patient, actually too patient, and now I'm looking for another alternative. I can't tell you how many sleepless nights I've had over the past almost 4 weeks. Thanks for letting me vent...sigh....
Can someone please tell me how to get Express Scribe to download my e-mail attachment/voicfile? tia

Express Scribe: Is there a way to change the play speed without using the mouse?
I can't imagine that there isn't a keyboard shortcut to slow down/speed up. I see Play Real Speed, Play Slow Speed & Play Fast Speed, but what if I want to speed it up to somewhere in between Real and Fast? TIA!
Express Scribe is very easy. Files download, you will see them, click on one and it starts when you
press your pedal. That simple.
Express Scribe is free.

Express Scribe is free, but I don't know if it -sm
plays those files. all you can do is try. Good luck.
Express Scribe is free and will probably play
any file format you need. You just need to buy a foot pedal. Express Scribe also sells pedals, you can find on e-bay, or even the equipment board here.
Are there any other free players besides Express Scribe?
I have many problems with express scribe. Hard to explain, but it stems from stopping and starting the recording just one time too many, and the express scribe "freezes up" for awhile. Sometimes I have to sit and wait for 2 minutes before it will play again. I have uninstalled/reinstalled it - no help. This has been going on for years and I am sick of it. Sometimes I have to reboot my computer to regain control of it.
Anyone know of any other free players out there I could try? Thanks!
Express scribe is FREE and works great!

Adjust speed on Cphone
Does anyone know what to do to adjust the speed on the CPhone?
Windows Media Player
Does anyone know if it is possible to use a pedal with the Windows media player? I am doing some test reports and have been unable to use my pedal to start, stop, and rewind. Without the pedal, this will take forever!
Help with taking test with media player
Hi there....I have to take a test using Windows Media Player and I can't figure out how to type in Word and still be able to use the keyboard keys (no foot pedal yet). If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.
Media Player/DSS format questions
This subject brings me to the problem I am having right now. I have a WAV pedal program which my doctor and I just started using. Going fine. Then all of a sudden he changes his format and sent me a file with a WMA and it came up in the Media Player. Oh, I saved the attachment in MY WAV files, but also have an archive file set up also. It did not come up in MY WAV files, but thank goodness did automatically come up in the archive part in the Media Player, and I could not get it to work with my pedal either, so literally had to listen and stop, re-listen, and type, etc. It took me 3 1/2 hours to do a 20 minute job! I get so frustrated as I am not IS literate. Now he has told me that he will be sending everything in DSS format and that I should go to a particular website and download so that I can get into it. Well he did not give me a model number, so cannot seem to get a download without it. But this also makes me wonder where and how I should be setting up things to find the documents and where/how to save them. Any tips are appreciated. TIA
Try this plug-in for Windows Media Player. sm
It looks like the .dvf file is a Sony recorder file. You don't say why the file needs to be converted to .dss and I'm not even sure that you can because .dss is proprietary to Olympus. Maybe this plug-in will be of some help to you. Let us know.
I would reverse the media player back
and see if that corrects the problem. If so, you might either decide you don't need the upgrade or contact Windows about a fix...
Make sure your plug is all the way in - sometimes it looks like it is but isn't seated.
Just do a restore to the day before you did the upgrade - or if you are uncomfortable with this uninstall the software and test your headphones...
just a thought.
No, you cannot use a foot pedal with Media Player.
Try downloading Express Scribe; it's free.
I figured it out----yes you can adjust the speed and here's how to do it. Hope this helps someone
There are a couple of ways to adjust playback speed.
1. Right-click on the Windows Media Player 10 title bar, choosing "Play" - "Play Speed" and selecting "Fast", "Normal", or "Slow".
Or, for more intricate adjustments:
1. Click the "Now Playing" tab.
2. Right-click on the Windows Media Player 10 title bar, choosing "View" - "Enhancements" - "Play Speed Settings".
3. A panel should appear at the bottom of the "Now Playing" tab.
- Click "Slow", "Normal", or "Fast" for basic play speed settings.
- Move the slider to the left to slow the playback; moving the slider to the right speeds up playback. For reference:
"Slow" speed is 0.5 "Normal" speed is 1.0 "Fast" speed is 1.4
If you're having trouble moving the slider, uncheck "Snap slider to common speeds" to allow speed changes across the slider bar. Note that some files may not correctly play at speeds less than 0.5.

Windows Media Player and Foot Pedal
Does anyone have a simple solution to hooking up a VEC footpedal so that it works with Windows Media Player to stop and start? The VEC hooks into a USB port on the computer and has 3 pedals, rewind, forward, and type.
Just as a note, Windows Media player will NOT work with a footpedal.
Unless there's some voodoo magic out there that I'm not aware of.
Flashdrive question versus Windows Media Player
There are 32 files on this flashdrive. I use a Stop/Start pedal. In using my pedal, I have done all of the files but four. Four of the 32 files show a length of about one hour each, but you cannot hear anything. However, if you open this up in Windows Media Player, you can hear him talking. What do I need to do about this? I can't type using Windows Media without my pedal, and why do you think I can't hear just four of the 32 files with my Start Stop pedal? This is a new thing for me and please pardon my ignorance, but I could really use your advice as soon as possible. You can email me and thank you kindly. Lisa
XP Media SP3 download w/DocQscribe conflicts, help needed
Can someone please advise me on any issues they have had with Windows XP Media Service Pack 3 download with DocQscribe. I know of several MTs who could not work for days, after installing service pack 3, and tech support could not help them either. I have not downloaded this yet because of this issue and need information about this prior to downloading it. I was told their F command keys still do not work either. TIA
