It is important that all posters (and those who just lurk around and read) understand that this board does not represent just one single view, opinion, perspective, posting style, topic, etc.
The board is for posting opinions for productive and information sharing, discussion, debate, etc.
EVERY OPINION IS ALLOWED. NO OPINION IS WRONG .. It is just an opinion! Our opinions reflect our beliefs. There may be opinions that are more popular or acceptable by society, by industries, by individuals or groups than others but all are allowed on this board.
No poster here knows any behind-the-scenes information about anyone else. Everyone's email address is hidden. A person can post here without identifying who they are. Just because there are 2 or more posts even with the same handle does not PROVE that the posts are by the same poster, etc.
Every poster and reader here must exercise some personal restraint and tolerance toward others' opinions. You may have to step back and stop reading a bit, take a breath, determine not to reply to a post or otherwise. There is no reason why healthy debate cannot occur but it has to be civil and allow others' experiences and beliefs to be presented.
Stop attacking one another and stop trying to bully individual posters or opinions. This means trying to police others' posts for grammar, spelling. It also means to stop trying to personally address others' posting styles or personalities by calling them out.
If you have a problem with a post, report it. If a post bothers you, stop reading or reply and debate it but do it with respect.
This board is not moderated for niceness nor for a single opinion. It is here for everyone to present their ideas and beliefs and all are welcome - on every forum of MTStars.
If you have problems with a specific poster, send me the link and let's discuss it. I will not remove posts because they are simply not nice, etc. If you wonder why your post is removed, ask me.

I want to know why the moderators feel it is okay to post jobs from spheris and healthscribe and others that were mentioned in the article when they undoubtedly hire us in the US until they can train more transcriptionists overseas and then leave us high and dry.
You can't post the names of companies. The powers that
be always delete them. I know I had to answer some questions concerning a Pell grant I got at a local technical school once. I don't think this is so far fetched.
not all companies post clearly .. how many put their line rate in the ads?
I really hate it when I answer a blind ad and afterwards I have to tell the person that they are not offering enough compensation for me to work on their account.
If they need weekend coverage, maybe that should be handled by a weekend-only IC. And if the MTSO has to hire 3 MTs to jump in the work pool (usually with a prn hanging in the eves) on Saturday and clean it up, then the work gets done. The M-F gals are happy, and the weekend MT looking for extra work (because some accounts don't have weekend work - especially clinic accounts) on the weekend is happy, too.
I work the weekend sometimes, both days. But I typically steer completely away from account ads that have the shifts delineated Tues-Sat 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift.
This is a labor-management issue that needs to be worked out amicably. Too many times MTSOs are bad-mouthing ICs and ICs/SEs/Es are bad-mouthing MTSOs. We aren't at odds. The MT is benefitted by hitting TATs with hopefully job security, and surely we all understand that we are all together on contract performance. This is supposed to be a symbiotic relationship and if you do get an MT who flakes, then have an extra to cover it. Management shouldn't browbeat the MTs who are dependable.
Take a few on-line tests. Some companies post
a link in their ads about where to go to test. You'll get a feel then about how good your education are. You'll certainly have blanks and you'll probably get a bad dictator or an ESL, which is the norm these days, but it will still give you a sense of things. I've had nearly 20 years' experience I still have an occasional blank and I have to spend some time researching a new drug, equipment, or procedure at least a couple of times a month, so you never stop learning.
You'll find when you start out you keep your reference books piled up beside you and Google is your best friend. You'll probably look something up twice for every report and then you'll only to have look something up twice a day, etc. The thing to do is make lists when you have a new word/drug so that you have it posted somewhere where it is handy if it should come up again and you don't spend a lot of time looking it up.
You also need to have a good reference library. I know some only use google, but at least 1/4 of what is on goggle is incorrect and unreliable, and you need the proper tools for the job. A community college course, if taken in person and not on-line, can be completed in less time than a course that is all on-line/correspondance generally.

Your bank should be able to supply you with information about their company if they have already taken your money.

They can send an email that goes to all MTs in one shot. I think she just means a courtesy email
would be nice. MQ is not getting any easier. My account has been picked over thoroughly when it went on DQS by ASR and I get all the remains because they only have a core group doing ASR which I think is wrong because you get all the bad dictators and it would be nice to be acknowledged that at least you know the person you can discuss problems with as they crop up. This is a big one and we have no manager anymore and no one to discuss this with at all in my office so you just sit here very day doing this work and no way to vent to someone that could offer some suggestions on this and other issues that come up to help relieve some of the stress of working this way.

Could someone tell me how to post a message and then have someone reply by email instead of just "Post Reply." I'm pretty new to this "chat" board. But I WOULD like to say it is VERY informative and helpful. Too bad some of the companies we work for aren't as helpful as one MT is to another MT. We'd have it made!!
Again, because you entered your email address, you CAN receive email from anyone, but THEY
e-mail address because it is not revealed when they send mail because we have spam protection in place. The only way they would know what your email address is, is if you reply to the email they send you. If you don't want to receive any email from anyone, simply do not enter your email address in the Email field.

Not through the MTStars email server. Your email address is NOT
visible to anyone. The only way your employer would know it is you is 1) if you respond when someone emails you, or 2) they recognize the way you write.

The same applies for a technical board for equipment topics; word, style, drug boards; a political board, a christianity board, a specific Medquist board, an offshores concerns board, etc. The Main board would serve for all discussions/topics that have not been provided special boards.
It is not fair for some to post where they should and others not. To avoid your post being deleted, please post under the appropriate boards.

I have tested this MANY times.
HOWEVER, we do NOT get paid for ADT and this is significant. This is our major loss.
It's not your imagination if your account that goes to DQS turns into crap dictators. It is already being ASR'ed. All the good dictators are gone... to the ultimate cherrry picker.
I hate this job.
