I agree with everything you say...as an IC...the company I work for makes me feel like I'm not appreciated, and that transcriptionists are a dime a dozen.  I've worked for this company for 5 years, and although I do have somewhat of a flexible schedule, which is the ONLY reason I stay, I don't feel secure in my job.  I'm considering applying for another job, and like you said, working in a hospital or a setting where at least they give you some perks, would be better than just having nothing but a paycheck...not paid days off, no vacation pay, not really knowing from one day to the next if this job is secure or not because there is absolutely no communication about stuff like that in this job....I have been feeling very uneasy about this job anyway because of all the VR that is going into the local hospitals in my city and others...so to be honest, I'm just taking advantage of the situation as long as I can until I get my nursing degree, then I'm also out!
