Serving Over 20,000 US Medical Transcriptionists

You are both right.

EMR is just electronic medical record. You can have transcriptionists OR some have capabilities of the docs doing it themselves. We are currently looking at a system where the doc dictates and speech recognition puts it on the screen in front of him and he can fix and e-sign. We do speech on the transcription side and edit it, but doctors do not have the ability to see it and change it as they dictate it YET! This is being tried though. I work for a hospital and that is what they want to do. We have a couple clinics that belong to our hospital and they are already using point and click and typing a short note themselves and no need for transcription. The point and click programs seem to work nicely for clinics and not very hospital friendly, so I would say try and keep yourself in hospital accounts.

Administration is always pushing for this, but a lot of our providers are saying I could see more patients if I didn't have to do my own note and they want to keep transcription so there is always hope!
