I AM SICK, SICK, SICK AND TIRED
Of bad dictators and QA that takes up for them!!!! I am sick to death of:
1. Doc saying paragraph after every sentence.
2. Docs never dictating the first name of doc they are writing to.
3. QA asking us to insert certain sentences in certain places for certain doctors who do not dictate them.
4. Docs wanting their own specific headings but not dictating them.
5. Docs who ramble, never saying period.
6. QA asking us to **fix** their grammer, mistakes, fragmented sentences, and verb tenses and sometimes when we do, we are docked points for **not transcribed as dictated.**
7. QA not wanting anything sent to them, stating **researach medical terms and facilities you are not familiar with.** If they are not there to help us out, what are they doing there????
8. Docs, NPs, and PAs who do not know how to dictate, pronounce, or spell.
9. QA asking us to use BOS, but not knowing it themselves.
10. Doing work I do not get paid for.
Before QA became involved, in years gone by, if a doc's dictation was awful - then that is what he got for transcription and more times than not, they would straighten up and make a better effort. Not now - we or QA has to almost do the dictation for them!! They are the ones with the medical degree - not us. What happened to us just transcribing what is dictated. Why can't they be responsible for what prints out?? If someone could let them know how much trouble their dictation style causes, it would cut my transcription time in half. My list could go on and on. It is a terrible time to be thinking about getting out of the business, but if this crap keeps up - I have to give it some serious consideration. The job just AIN'T what it used to be.
Just plain sick and tired
All I can say is I am just plain sick and tired of MT work with no chance of leaving for many years. Sick of burping, farting, snuffling, mush mouthed ignorant jerks who pass for doctors. Honestly, as stupid as they sound, I have no clue how they got through high school, let alone medical school. Working for peanuts and getting nowhere. The good days at this job are fewer and fewer anymore! The companies are making it harder and harder to make a living at this.
I'm in the same boat. I'm so sick and tired of hearing
how well I did on the test only to be given the worst account and dictators. I wouldn't mind at all if I had the same dictators every day so I could get used to them. I've tried the smaller nationals with the same results. And the pay rates are NOT that great when you consider the fact that it takes twice as long to muddle through this garbage as on the easy accounts. I'm not sacrificing my sanity and paychecks for "the company". They need to give a little, too. I'm seriously looking into some nonMT job options right now. Really, who's going to do the crap work when all the experienced MTs get tired of it and quit? VR, offshore, newbies? I don't think so....
You make me sick. You sound
like an idiot. They failed miserably, how stupid you sound!!! LOL!!!!!!!!! That's why they are still in business with 1,000s of MTs. Duh. Get a real thought.
She sounds bi-sexual, not lesbian, if she likes men too. As sick as it may sound sm
he is marrying her to fulfill his sexual fantasies. I mean, what man (with the exception of a few) wouldn't want their mates to be with another woman especially if it will involve him. I'm sorry to say that, mom. I really am.
Pray really hard that he not go through this the marriage. That's about all you can do. And if he does marry her, BE THERE FOR HIM unconditionally because we all know that it will not last.
DocShuttle - yea, I know, you're all sick of me saying it but
it is the best when it comes to working with clients who are not savvy with FTP sites, etc. You can configure it with the Olympus recorders so it is ALL done automatically. Dock the recorder, and it will take the files, erase the old ones, import to DocShuttle, post to the ftp site, take off finished work from ftp site and bring back to doc. All automatically. Also DocShuttle will allow you to set parameters so that each account can only access their own folders. It has reports that will give you the line counts of all the transcription done in a month. It tracks reports and assigns names. It shows status of account, if it is being worked on or ready for QA. Now you might not need this if you are working with a single offfice. In that case I think I might just use something like FTPSurfer to send files back and forth. Email me if you want. We can talk over some different options depending on your needs.
lol guess they're tired of all our griping about every
and slandering every company in the world
:)
really, no one cares, we're all tired at times. NM
you could lighten up and not humiliate. it's not necessary, in all fairness and kindness.
For Pete's sake, if you're too sick to work,
call in sick!!
This past week I've had chronic sinus drainage and a nagging, constant cough that has kept me up most of the night. Felt okay during the day,(although typing speed decreased significantly). Was able to take cat naps off and on during the day to make up for lack of sleep, otherwise,I wouldn't have hesitated to take a day or two off.
If I'm "really" sick,I call in for a sick day without hesitation!!
Go to bed. Get off the thread. You're tired alright. Looks like you have been working
all day trying to defend MQ. Get some rest. When's second shift coming to relieve you. Hope they have something more original to say. RIGHT? Whoops, my caps are starting to run away with me and I can't stop myself...... I have been reading too many of the multiple personality CAP person's posts. HELLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP
I must say that you do indeed sound like you're one of the 'good guys'...
From MT to QA, thank you for all of the good work that you do. Know that you are appreciated. When you send one of us constructive feedback that enables us to continue to train our ear it makes us a better MT and motivates us to try even harder the next time.
We need more of your kind in this industry. It's QA's like you who create a better environment for growth and preserving the integrity of the patient document.
Thank you again.
you sound just as bitter and defensive, so we're square. nm

If they're tight enough, hang them in front of or behind your ears. Sound is conducted through

I get tired of daily grind. I get tired of having
horrible dictation/dictators and not able to produce lines, which directly affects my paycheck. I don't mind doing the difficult stuff, and I pretty good at it, but it is stressful and I find it very hard to budget when you never know what your paycheck is going to be. I hate being tied to having earphones on all day. I have children at home (I homeschool and don't have toddlers running around) and my DH works third shift so he is home during the day. I try to work around all this, but can't always. If I had a "desk" job I could be part of conversations at least, but having to have the earphones on you can't do that. I get tired of being sedentary, my feet swell, my shoulders are tired, my elbows hurt, etc.
I stick with it because of my children, and also because I like the flexibility. I don't have to be up at 5:30 to get the kids up and ready for school, I don't have to fight traffic to get to work at 8:00. It is a trade-off. Sounds like you just need a break.
That bites.
When I worked in-house, our production level was less because we had to answer the phone and the door. Even working at home for a hospital, we were only required to do approximately 110 lines per hour. Of course, it was easy to do more.
It sounds like they're jerking you around in regard to your pregnancy. That could be illegal. Understandably, it is difficult to work and care for a child at the same time. Do you have anything in writing about the daily production levels? As for the routing, you might even have a larger pool of dictators if you work for a national. For the most part, routing and carbon copies are all listed in your account specs to refer back to, however.
Do you use a word expander? I wonder if that would help you out. Maybe that's why they keep raising the production level is because some of the MTs are using Expanders and really knocking out the lines.
I think you'd be happier working at home with your baby. I wish I had done it sooner because I wasted so much time working outside the home, being resentful, feeling guilty over leaving my kids at daycare, and going to college to find a bigger, better paycheck. I started out slow in MT because I only had to make around $700 gross per month to equal what I would have made after daycare at my old job.
Well, you don't worry about any of this right now. Taking care of yourself and that baby are your first priorities. You didn't mention a significant other, but don't let anybody tell you that you have to work fulltime. I always thought I had to work fulltime to be a productive member of society because it was drilled into my head by my family. Being a good mother is a fulltime job in itself. No stressing. Everything always works out in the end.
Reality bites
Sorry to hear about your disappointment in a raise in line rate pay, but it is reality. I had my own business for many, many years, and during the last eight years, I could not raise my pay or I would lose my accounts. I went from 14 cents a line in 1991 to 11.5 cents a line in 2005. Every year it was the same old thing - Gee, could you lower your rate, CFO got a brochure from another company willing to do it cheaper, or I was always told it was not in the budget, hospital was losing money, had to cut somewhere. The sad reality is that offshoring has cut our pay to crap because of the competition, if you can call it that. Remembering that the whole medical system is collapsing upon itself in this country with no universal healthcare policy in this country and millions every year losing their medical insurance, the powers that make these decisions in cutting their budgets where it is most obvious - nonrevenue-producing departments. Be creative, diversify, maybe do other types of transcribing added to your business, and perhaps learn something else now. The job of the future will be three part-time jobs. The kids of today know that all too well.
Blistering Bites
Was turkey hunting in central Texas and was bitten numberous times over the course of the weekend. Still unsure if it was done in the field or in the motel room at night.
The bites look exactly like the ones described in the original note on this thread. Center blisters with big red welts under them (half to silver dollar size). They break and scab and become very dark and then start to decrease in size after about 10 days. My doctor gave me a cortisione steroid to take orally for 6 days and an anti-biotic to stop any possible infection. My friends and I are all outdoorsman but have not seen this type of bite before. Everything points towards spider but typically spider bites are defensive and they will bite once and leave. I was bitten 11 times in 3 days. As far as a recluse is concerned, the odds are slim as they are definetly a "one and run" type of spider and with as many times as I was bitten, I would've been very sick. If you have many of these bites and are not very ill, chances are it was not a brown recluse.
Reality bites doesn't it?
Sorry you don't seem to be able to deal with the reality of MT world as it is in 2005. You are the one with false illusions that somehow there is a code of ethics in any company or these MTs would unite to fight ??? uhh what's the fight and where is it at. Might as well try to get a herd of cats together to fight an undefined battle for you once you figure out who your enemy is.
Well, well, word gets around, another OSi QA bites the dust
What is wrong with all you QA's who will not leave OSi altogether, how many is that lately who won't put up with you know whose QA BS and need to tell the whole company good riddance and up yours
Suckups
Not laughing at your bill.. that bites..but
in California gas & electric has sucked big time for decades! I average around $2000 a year...throw in some rolling blackouts too.
Me, too, but it's the dark chocolate. I get up and do something else, have a few bites, and then
s
buffer bites, taters and gravy with
broccoli and cheeze ... (bite = cut up buffalo roast into little bites and fry them up)
Insect bites, center water blister.
For an entire month maybe once or twice a week, I have been bitten by some unknown sneaky bug that leaves a center water blister and a huge red swollen area around the blister, maybe the size of a half dollar coin. I have been putting neosporin on it but would love to know what is biting me. I woke up this morning with 3 extra bites. I knew about the one on my wrist which has already started to blister. I am thinking of going to the doctor but don't want to look like a wacko going in for nothing. However, I absolutely hate insects and they seem to love me with the bites.
The itching seems to happen when I am in the backyard (lots of trees and bushes). So, might be getting bit there first then the bites get worse as time goes by. They leave scabby cicular scars. The skin looks healed but very dark.
Anyone else with this experience or should I just head to the doctor. Can't really afford it but tired of the bites and the scars they are leaving. Thanks.
roast in mini bites (finger food)
going to cut up one of the bison roasts into bite sized pieces, shake in a bit of flour, and pan-fry nice and slow. It makes such yummy bites! probably have a home-grown salad too...i made some tater soup with left-over brocolli and gr beans for lunch -- we are blessed with too much good food. i need to use some squash too :)
The quality I see coming out of Pakistan and Egypt still bites the big one.
:+
Has anyone disconnected the internal sound card and replace with another sound card?
I am having problems with my sound on one of my computers. Several different ExText program have been on it so I don't think it is the program and the sound is just now as clear as on my other computer. Has anyone switched (disconnected the internal sound care and replaced) to a new sound card? Did it make a difference.
Everyone on this board is so knowledgeable, I really appreciate you. You have helped me many times.
You do sound FAT, but you don't sound RICh.
Go live in Iraq or something.
sorry you are sick
You should probably try something orally like Pepto or Imodium, doubt the other would work but if you call pharmacist they would know for sure
Yes, you do seem a bit sick. Maybe you should
Small talk is a bridge that connects us to people, and let in what might be a close relationship, whether it be friends, or mate, or whatever. This is how people break the ice to see whats deeper.
I, like you, became defensive and withdrawn being out of it for so long, and thought everyone was the enemy and out to get me. Once you change your perspective, you'll realize its not them, its you, you're the one who needs to change to become happy.
The world is not negative, dreary, and awful, that is just how you see it because you're isolated and scared.
I am far from a know it all, just sick of MTs like you who cannot think.
I have some great MTs that take feedback, get their scores up, and go completely off QA. But then there are the ones like you who think your own low scores are the editors fault..you couldn't be at fault oh no!! LEARN YOUR JOB! You are on here arguing with people when you should be figuring out how to be a transcriptionist or better yet, a manager at McDonalds!
I used to do that, cause I was so sick of it, but
supposedly now our company started where they will deduct from your paychecks any reports that are sent back, so I just do them. A lot are still being sent back though, so I doubt if they are enforcing this.
I know what you mean. This is so sick.
How about we discuss too when the world is going to end.
sick cat
Help. Our cat stopped eating about 5 days ago. She will eat maybe 1 bite a day, does drink water. No upper respiratory signs, no vomiting/diarrhea, she just sits very still for long periods. Can't get her into vet for a couple more days. She is getting very thin, not grooming herself. Tried fancy food, things she likes, not interested. Any suggestions?
sick cat
Please see your vet ASAP! My cat, recently deceased, exhibited these same signs and it turned out she had pneumonia. I was lucky and she ended up living for another year and a half. Yes, if your vet will not see you on an emergency basis, get another vet! Good luck to you and Boo!
If you think I'm sick
then why are you on my site. Go elsewhere.
If you think this is sick
you should read my journal.
sick son
Emetrol for nausea. Always worked for me.
Bo sick?
What's wrong with him? I love him. He was my pick on the last AI.
sick of it?
I don't think I will ever get sick of it, and I have been at it for over 20 years! The only thing I regret vocation wise is not sticking with my nursing school. You know the story... got married young... decided I wanted big $ instead of nursing school and there it went! So i guess i get my nursing vicariously through transcription! I do love being at home and being my own boss though!
I am so sick of this!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't help but vent. I was at a family picnic last weekend and YET AGAIN someone approached me about "doing what you do at home". Uh, you mean my JOB?!?!?!?!?!?!
She said she is trying to get some family member of hers to "do what you do at home". I gave her a bit of a blank stare at first and then as NICELY AS I COULD I explained to her that it is a great job but anyone considering it should know that working from home isn't as easy as the advertisements make it sound. (this is someone who I don't know well, picnic was at my sister-in-laws and she had her side of the family there as well). Anyway, I explained to this lady that I have been doing this for 20 years and I went to school first, then worked in doc office 6 years, then hospital 4 years, then home. I told her that companies want people to have at least 2 years hospital experience before working at home. AND, most hospitals want someone to have some MT experience before hiring them. So I told her not to think that it is easy for someone to just starting ~typing at home~ right away
She then *explained* to me that her sister lives near Cleveland (we are from a small town) and that she would probably have a better chance to work from home being from a bigger city. I then tried to explain that I work for a national company and that is the standard for the entire country. She didn't say a word.
HONESTLY I think people really think that we have a nonskilled job, like anyone can put a desk and computer in their home and sit down and start doing this. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I just wish people would understand that it is a real job!!!!!!
sick of MT
Totally. The people who run these companies are total scam artists, and their QA and staff are a bunch of brainwashed illiterate idiots who believe they are "wonderful". I hate these people so much, I will collect welfare before I submit to slave wages and condesencion from perky housewives with GEDs screwing honest skilled workers out of money and loving themselves for it.
Everyone needs to take a sick day now and then!
It truly sounds as if you are sick to me. You might feel better sooner if you rest more and actually need to take less time off in the long run. I have to say that I have typed many times when sick and always thought I could, but the one time I had strep I was so ill I actually had to take off three days AND the weekend in order to begin feeling better. Do what you feel you need to do! :-) Hope you feel better soon.
When you are really sick, take someone with you.
This is one reason that I advise anyone who goes to a doctor when he/she is seriously ill, to take someone with you. I mean, bring your own advocate right into the examining room, if possible.
Twenty-five years ago I was working at a nursing home on the night shift. Part of my job was to recopy the doctors' order sheets each month. They were then mailed to each doctor, who would sign and return them. Part of this page was provided to Medicare as PROOF that the patient had been seen during the required time period of 60-90 days. Without the required visits by the doctors, the nursing home did not receive the money from Medicare. I reported this situation to a long-term care advocate/ombudsman. Nowadays, I understand that there is a main physician at the facility who may or may not actually see the patient, but he signs the papers.
OH MY GOD! SICK!
You make me sick! You are obvious. "A few" are legal. "Good luck finding a decent, well groomed, good hygiene one who is illegal. Alot of them are thieves also" - how dare you. I live in South Texas and have lived in California and in Chicago, where the populations of Mexicans and Mexican-Americans are dense, and I probably more than you have had my fair share of contact with "those people" becauase I am one of them - so I guess I'll send myself back to Mexico because my ancesters 125 years ago came across illegally, right? You mask it well under the pretenses of "oh, my taxes," blah, blah, blah. Yes, we have a problem with illegal immigration, but sorry, honey, you will not send them all back; yes, they need to be stopped; but because you've had bad experiences with some Mexican nationals, does not give you expertise in all things illegal immigrant - and STOP CALLING THEM A FREAKIN ALIEN! If you'll notice even the media has stopped that nonsence! Peace!
I'm sick of it 2...
It's not like we're salaried workers who get paid the same amount of money whether we sit around and eat bonbons or work ourselves into the ground. I can't AFFORD to be lazy and try to "get away with" something - if I don't produce much I don't get paid much - why don't they "get" that concept? THEY are the ones who get paid a set annual salary no matter what they do. One day very soon it will all come back to bite these CEOs who sit around thinking of ways to nickle and dime us while insulting our intelligence and skills, which are considerable - and I personally cannot wait until that day.
Car sick
I'm out of town 3 days a week working as a nurse and do MT from my motel room. I just know I couldn't do this from a moving vehicle. I've always been prone to car sickness and it's gotten worse over the years, especially if I try to read or look down at something. UGH. I'm thinking working on a plane or train or maybe an RV would be different since the smaller the vehicle the worse it affects me. Ooh, and I can't ride in the back seat at all anymore. Let me know if it works for you!
I'm sure they get sick
but I doubt that Indiastanippines really requires (for their own patients) the degree of documentation that is demanded in the US by insurance companies, the malpractice system, etc.
I am so sick of all of this.
This has to be the most underhanded, greedy, bold-faced attack on our salaries that I have seen in my lifetime. It is just a ploy to keep more money in the MTSOs grubby hands.
Our fingers are still hitting that spacebar. Our fingers are still hitting the tab key.
How about this -- we don't touch any keystroke we are not paid for!
But people will stay and people will take it until all the work is eventually offshored to some other stinking country.
I can't wait to finish school. I have had it. I already left my MT job with a national for a smaller local hospital that still pays an hourly rate. But I am just keeping this job until I get through school. And it is not related to medical or typing or transcribing or anything close.
This industry has become one big scam!
old and tired
maybe you need the 14 bucks an hour to pay for those conference calls. i hear the editors have to pay for them all by themselves.
Thank you Tired... :)
