Call human resources. I called human resources about it. Sooner or later they will get tired of the
calls and do something about it. Safety in numbers. I have called twice. I forgot to mention the assinine QA point plan though. Mostly I bitched about the no work thing. Told them the new pay plan based on incentive is another joke with no work. Cant make incentive with no work.

sounds like the description of transcription! BTW, there is a coding office down the street from me that I am thinking of stopping by and checking out and see if my transcription experience would help me land a job even if just part time. I know of a girl that use to work there that was not certified coder, but had radiology tech experience which I know could be more qualified than me, but it sure does not hurt to find out :)

Here is where I differ....those of us (most of us) who work for MTSOs had to be at home and find our own words meaning we had to buy books (at that time) and search and search again. It is part of the job.
Nowadays there is the internet and different things and I think people are just getting lazy. I see some things on the Word board that are not because the MTs cannot understand it is because they don't have a clue as to what would be in a particular exam or review of systems etc. This is stuff that if they are going to school they should be learning.
The way I see it if an MT has to ask what DTRs are in a physical examination, they should NOT be working at home but should be in an office where they can be mentored.

The easy part is making the decision to leave, the hard part is
actually doing it. Been in your shoes and it took me a year and a half to leave after I had made the decision to do so. It was the best thing I have ever done for myself and my girls. I had family and friends and a counselor telling me what needed to be done and I knew what needed to be done but until I had the courage on my own to do it I stayed. One day, we had an argument and he spit in my face and that was the last straw for me. Even though it is something that I will NEVER forget, that day is also a day I will never forget because it is the day that I took my kids and left. I am a single mom of 2 and have been single and supporting us for 5 years now. I have been healing ever since and still am to this day. You can do this. I know that if I hadn't have left and I would have stayed one of us would be dead by now or both.

Human nature
People generally don't talk about how happy they are on a regular basis. They tend to want to talk to others when something is bothering them, and focus more on the negative. So I guess it makes sense that you don't see a lot of posts that say "Ladeedah, how I love my job and what a stupendous day it is in the transcription world today!" The job is just a means to a happier life, not the definition of a happy life.
Personally, I feel honored that I am in this profession. Not because of the money or the skill and intelligence that it requires, but primarily because it allows me to be home with my daughter instead of shipping her off to daycare every day for some stranger to screw up. That is why I will deal with the lack of raises, crappy dictators, periodic lack of work, mgmt that is too overworked to care, etc. To be with my baby all the time and still bring in a paycheck, however meager it may be.

They were all probably told that is why the work is over there and they have to fix our stuff, that way it boosts their egos.
I still believe it is the other way around. OH...our ignorant minds.

Sounds like a great place to work. In addition, that manager you are speaking of most likely has no backbone when it comes to standing up when it's require of her.

Animals are incapable of the complexities of logic and emotion to get to that conclusion. for them, but I think it is far from the majority.

this is who created HIPAA. Anyone willing to email or write any of these people in regard to these offshoring issues and how the doctors should be required to inform the patient when their medical information is leaving the country in order to be transcribed. HIPAA was created with privacy and protection as its main purpose, but ironically once the work leaves the country, this means nothing. The Dept. of Health and Human Services (HIPAA) needs to step up and do the right thing here in the best interest of our country's citizens, while preserving many U.S. transcriptionists who will lose their jobs if no changes are made.

Yes, I tried to post same last night about 10 times, and it won't let me post.
I used to breed lab puppies (please no activist flames)! I had a champion female white Canadian lab, and people would be on a list for years if by chance I bred her, which I did twice, and so that I could continue her line. Anyhow, she's my sweet Skye who passed away 2 months ago? At any rate, we had the same problems with kids in the "hood" who wanted to come over and play once the puppies were old enough to be exercised daily and played with. At first I thought, how cute, right? Puppies and little kids - what better picture! Well, the majority of kids were adorable, but there were always 1 or 2 sick ones who would smack the pups, smash and hold their heads in the dirt (a real common thing, but I don't know why - psychiatrist anyone). At any rate, I finally had to ban the whole group due to the 1 or 2 creeps, had to call the police, the whole 9 yards, and that's EXACTLY what the police officer told me - next thing is there will be poison meat or a donut in the yard. He told me to always go out and patrol my yard, especially alone the fence line every day before I let the dogs out, particularly at night. I went out with a flashlight. It was about a month later, but sure enough - poison meat. Because there were so many kids involved, we obviously couldn't pin point the exact family, but the police went and read the riot act to them all. It would stop and not happen again for a year or so, but every now and again we would find something. My dogs were NEVER out and barking, so it was nothing like that - it was just over the puppies and the cruel kids.... Not trying to freak you, but that's the way these kids and their families are. You can really judge someone's character by ill treatment of a PUPPY, of all things. And the parents?? They sound whacked. Please be careful.
