of MS Word not an upgrade. It just has a lot of other programs most people don't use. I only use the MS Word program and do not install any of the suite stuff as it is.

Works is a dumbed down version of Word and Excel. You get the full version of Word in the Suite.
The Works Suite is a cheaper way of getting a full version of Word if you don't want or need the other applications in Office.
If you have the Works Suite you qualify for the upgrade version.
I just recently bought the Small Business version upgrade with Word 2003 (the computer came with Works Suite)for my new computer. It still has Windows XP. I have Word 2002 with Works Suite on my other computer. I am thinking about getting the Student Teacher edition for my other computer and my mom's computer, as it can be put on 3 computers. My license with the Small Business upgrade says one computer only. I was a little disappointed about this, as I wanted to put in on both computers. I thought I could use it on both as long as I personally used both of them, but not at the same time.
No, the Works "Suite" has a full version of Word... sm
that is compatible. It's the plain Works version that usually comes installed on new computers that uses a different file format and is not compatible. You just have to be careful that you are buying the Suite.
Works Suite
Can works suite be bought at best buy or do I have to get it through MS site.
No, the Works Suite 2003 and 2005 have Word 2002.
xx
Full Word is in the Works "Suite," not plain Works.
Works saves files in a different format, but you can open them in Word if you have the correct filter installed.
Since yours is so old, you'll need the regular full-price version and then yearly you order the

Emdat works with Instant Text Por V - ony version that works with Emdat - nm

ShortHand is up to version 9, at least, now, as it's what I have. Maybe v.10 is in the works?? nm

Version 10 only works with Vista. You need 9 for XP.

I went with the Student version and it works fine...
certainly haven't found anything missing that I'm in need of!
Just downloaded the newest version, 4.17, and it works with .dss.
I'm glad that the NCH people fixed this. Three cheers for them!
Works ok, but you get what you pay for. I think there is a free trial version. Not nearly as good

You just have to be careful which version of Works you're buying. sm
Plain Works does not have Word at all, only a word processor that "looks" like Word. The Works Suite has Word 2002. To get Word 2003, you have to get the Works "Plus" 2008 version.
What is the version of word for windows that works best for you? Still working off 2000.

No. EditScript works fine with my 2003 Word version. sm
It is ExText with Word 2000 that I am worried about interfering with my EditScript from eScription.
Sorry that happened to you. I have been running Word 2003 with eScription for about 4 years now. Everything works great!
Working full time at home with small children is hard but part time works great
is almost impossible. You will either have to work when your spouse is home or for only a few hours during the day and then more when they are asleep. I work part time at home and my kids (2&5 now) have done very, very well. They are great kids, very well behaved, don't get into much. I stop working to check on them/give them some attention every hour or so while I work (5 hours each afternoon or so) and they get all my attention in the morning and at night. It has worked out beautifully for us.
don't get office suite
Buy the WORD program separately. A lot of programs will not work with the WORKS or Suite, something to do with them being only partial programs and not having everything in them. If you need to read Excel or Power Point programs, there are free readers on the internet that you can download, so you can view and read the files. That is all I have worked with for years. Microsoft WORD and the free readers. I have not needed the full Excel program except when in a QA position and have never needed Power Point.
The type of footpedal you get will depend on your platform you are working on. A 9-pin footpedal is a serial footpedal, and if your laptop does not have a built-in serial port, just buy the USB pedal, as the adapters will not work for the footpedal. Good luck.
No..that is for the whole suite of DocShuttle programs
You just want to get the DocShuttle Client program. It is $99 but that only allows you to install it 3 times, I believe. Whether you are re-installing it on the same computer after a crash, or 3 different computers or whatever...it's 3 times only and that's it. The best deal, and what I have, it the DocShuttle Client with Dongle. That is $115, but it comes with a little dongle thingie (that sounds a little funny -smile-) that you plug into a USB port. It allows you to install the program an unlimited number of times...well worth the $16 extra. Plus, if you buy the $99 version and then need the dongle later, they won't sell it to you separately and will make you buy the whole thing over again.
So, look for DocShuttle Client with Dongle...$115...and that's all you need.
iTran medical transcription suite??
Does anyone type in this program for a company called DRC, Digital Records Corporation. If so, can you tell me some about it, and possibly give me a web site so I can check it out to see what it is like?
Not always ... as a poster pointed out below, with One Suite, it is $1.80 per hour. sm
So, if you can't get unlimited, that's the next best thing. Best I was offered with an 800-number was 9 cpl. So (at 300 lph).......... I could make $27 per hour and not pay long distance ......... or I could make $33 per hour and pay $1.80 per hour ... hmmmm ...... the math seems easy. :-)
Just my take on things, of course.
They're still at version 7 and version 8 is supposed to come out this Fall, which may be compatib
Full Core means full CPR code.

This is why I uploaded the 4.15 version. It's a previous version

I work a full time and a part time, but not sure about 2 full-time...
My hubbie is disabled and I am the only one in my family working also, so I fully understand. You will not have a day off at all working 2 full-time as that is going to be the only way you will get in all your hours. I work one job in the mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other from 5 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and do have off one day a week, but if I had to get in the extra 15 hours to make the other job full-time I am not sure how I would do that other than lose my only day off. Also, make sure you have your account specifics in front of you at all times because you will get yourself confused as to who is what and having notes will help in that area. Good luck to you, as it is possible, but forget about your house being clean, having any social life, etc. Feel free to email me personally if you just need someone to talk to, as I have been where you are and still am.
Shorthand works with every program, it works outside the program you use, does not interfere.

What version of IT are you using?
And what application are you using IT with?
You may want to email IT tech support directly.
Kind regards,
Kristen
What version of IT are you using?
What version of Instant Text V Pro are you using? Do you have your linking options established?
To find out what version you are using, double-click on the blue title-bar in Instant Text and then go to Help and About Instant Text. There you will see the exact version and built date that you are using. If you are using Instant Text V Pro but do not have a built date of October 2005, I would suggest downloading the latest revision from our website so you are using the most up-to-date version.
If you are using a previous version of IT, such as IT 3.0 or IT 3.5, I would recommend upgrading to version V Pro.
Also, please leave a message when you call so we can help you. If you do not get a tech on the phone, it is because we are on the other line helping other IT users. You can always email us directly if you need help as well.
Kind regards,
Kristen
Maybe my version is too old
My Stedmans Spellchecker the is 2004 so maybe it is too old. I sent an email to Stedman support and they sent one back stating that they do not guarantee that their programs will work with Vista. My electronic Stedman dictionary works though. Thanks for your help
What version?

Version 4.16
I agree. I also have the newer version (4.16) and it plays dss files just fine for me, too.
the version of CS I use does NOT
use my version of Word. It is it's own separate platform and my autocorrect entries do not work in it. I will either use ShortHand or just copy and paste into my Word.
try this version
There was a similar discussion Friday, and someone provided a link to an older version of ES. I think this link takes you to that message.

Maybe on your version
But on mine, which is Microsoft Word 2002, it is squares, not circles.
Well, gosh... I guess everyone might not have the same thing!
same version
I have the same version.
thanks for the information...We just started using this a few months ago, but it just seems like there is no communication anymore with this job other than what work is avaialble and the mistakes you make...but I'm just going to start asking more questions. My supervisor told me we are absolutely not allowed to type in Word...I tried it with one account that they said I could, and then she said to stop because it was messing things up. So, I don't know what's up with that.
Have a good night...and thanks again!
which version? sm
we had Meditech magic and used Instant Text abbreviation expander. How about canned text? I had a lot of full routines in canned text that really helped.
Version 3
version 3. Thanks for your help. I type directly into Meditech.
what version?
We were on 4.6 and you entered R and the date and then hit look up, the best I can remember. but we were inhouse and could also go under drafts or signed under order entry if we could not remember the name. Circumstances were probably different for us.
yes, not sure what version you are but sm
Under Tools click on customize, then click on keyboard. Then choose Format under the category window, then in the command window, find Format Bullets and Numbering. Now choose your keyboard command (like CTL X)and make sure you are not already using that for something important! Then put your new command in the press new shortcut key window, then click assign. Hope this helps!
I believe I am using version 7.0.
I know when I started on ASR, I had to call Dictaphone and have them download an upgrade or patch to my current program.
Version 7.5
We have 7.5, and I am fortunate that the function works; alt , changes the case of the next letter to a small letter. Wishing there were a blog board or somewhat to share experiences. I feel lost out here with this system in trying to boost productivity.
HA! You are full of it, LOL. (nm)
better to be *full of ourselves* than....nm
Boy you are FULL of it
How the heck did you jump to the assumption that I probably make less than you? Why - because your brother and father are engineers?? I never said I needed another job, I said I wanted one to fill my time and make some extra money. Unless your last name is Gates or Buffet, who wouldn't want to use their natural skills to make extra cash on the side? Grow up.
And if your job is so difficult, how is it you have all this extra time to sit on this forum bashing folks? I never claimed my job was too demanding, but it did take quite a bit more education - initially and always ongoing to keep up with the latest technology - than yours did. I didn't come on this board to start a "My job is harder/better than yours", but my goodness you are the most assumptive and pious person I have ever had the displeasure of being introduced to. And that says a lot considering I work with all men in a computer engineering industry! Maybe you would find your job more rewarding if you spent more time doing it!
Oh but it was nowhere near full.
This is the 2nd time this has happened. Believe me, in the olden days when autotext was all there was I had a WAY bigger file, now it's gone. Not autocorrect, mind you, I use the ESP for that, but the autotext. It just makes life so much easier.
Which version of Word are you using?
If you are using Word 2003, I HIGHLY recommend you disable autocorrect and anything that would automatically insert anything based on an expansion system within Word. There is a known problem (on MS-Word's end) that these 2 programs compete for expansions and Word can lock up, causing you to lose up to your entire report. I've been in touch with several people trying to resolve this issue but it is on Microsoft's end, not Smartype. Any prior version of MS-Word does not have this issue. Just be sure you don't have the same expansions set up for both Word and Smartype. I loved my ST with Word 2000. I'm on a platform where I can no longer use ST but I am slowly importing all my entries into a different expansion program.
