Yes, but I think this is being interpreted too broadly.

Technology is not ready to replace us just yet. Voice recognition as it is now really stinks.
The EMR effort has been going on for many, many years. What this means really is the non MT medical records staff will be cut first.
The hospital here in my town has about 5 or 6 girls in the MR department. They are NOT MTs. They are records clerks. They are the ones who have to find the records and get them out for whatever purposes, such as being used for the doctors or a patient needing copies. They file it all away again when not in use. It will reduce the number of staff needed to perform such functions.
Our health care system is profit driven. For every patient an MD has to write or type out his/her own records instead of dictating for an MT, there is at least one patient he/she will not be able to see.
I find this all really interesting to watch. I used to do IC work for a clinic of 5 physicians here. They decided they didn't want to pay and went back to hand-written notes. One physician wanted VR and decided that he hated it because it took him longer to edit it than it did to hand write or type it himself. Mind you, this was back in 1999. VR really isn't any better.
The smaller offices are going to have a really hard time getting all this stuff done electronically due to the initial expenses involved.

That's how you interpreted it,
but not everybody did. Do you think your hobby line clever?
