The 3 factors that influence it the most are stress, caffeine, and sun exposure. The more you have of any of these, the more intense it will be. Face scrubs are a no-no; they just exacerbate the problem.

There's no cure, only treatments. I had laser treatments done. I had one treatment a month for 8 months and the changes were remarkable. A little costly and they certainly stung a bit but it was worth it for me.

I have not used any medications or topicals, though. It is just not something I want to take on yet.

Right now, my face stays red a little longer when I am hot (after working out or being out in the summer heat) but it goes away and the flushing and little bluish capillaries are all gone.

The laser treatment closed the capillaries down long enough for them to dissipate and be dissolved.

I went to The Vein Center in Memphis, TN, and had my treatments (a husband and wife team, Doctors Ostrow). They were pretty well full face and were $175 each. Took just 10-15 minutes each time and no side effects other than a little stinging and felt/looked like I was a bit sunburned for a few hours.

The laser also increased the elasticity/collagen in my face so the texture was improved! A nice unexpected side effect!
