Yes, after 9/11 I keep cable news on very low. Just in case

Yes, I leave cable news on low, but since I get paid by the hour plus incentive,

No, that wasn't the case. I watched the interviews on the news.
The very next day after Wilma, there were people standing in line complaining about no help and what were they going to do. One healthy, 20ish woman in particular had her kids with her standing in line. She was upset because she didn't even have water for formula. Now, I do not have a problem helping children out. I would give kids everything I had, but the mother should have had enough brains to fill water jugs and take care of her kids. Those kids are depending on her to do the right thing, and she didn't do it. Her manicure with fake nails certainly was nice, though. Talk about messed up priorities. There were healthy men there complaining about having no water or food for themselves, too.
I wouldn't use lower case. I'd use upper case. Don't worry about it. nm

war of the worlds
I've been wanting to see it too.  Even though Tom lately is kind of nuts.  It looks like a good movie, but we never go to the movies, so I guess I'll have to wait for the video too.
The best of both worlds
I like my situation - I work for a local hospital in radiology. We rotate in-house and home so one week I'm home three days and the next week, two days. Not bad, eh? I've worked from home in the past and I always end up gaining a ton of weight and being glued to the computer 12+ hrs a day. This is the first time in a long time I've had ONE job! I miss MR - the work is more interesting and I don't care for my hours but it's ok.
War of the Worlds -- You gotta see it!!

I just saw it tonight....FABULOUS!!  I admit I was skeptical because on Rotten Tomatoes (the website I go to see critics' notes first) it was falling and there's been ups and downs about it...AND because as much as I have always loved Tom Cruise he has really gone off the deep end in my opinion.

However, the movie was fabulous.  I remember the old black and white movie too.  Tom played his part incredibly; as did the little girl (forget her name); and Tim Robbins, too.  Really was something.

Go see it!

War of the worlds movie.
Has anyone seen the new War of the Worlds movie and did the big, mechanical monster remind you of a giant colonoscopy at times?  Just wondered if anyone else saw it and thought the same thing. ');>

That's my situation, though I'm married. Best of both worlds.

My cats are leash trained and LOVE it. Best of both worlds!

Crash, The Chronicles of Narnia, War of the Worlds, Derailed, A History of Violence,
Brokeback Mountain, and Dreamer. All of them were good, although I think Brokeback Mountain would be on the bottom of the list for me. Crash and The Chronicles of Narnia were very good in my opinion.
just checked i-mail. no news. how did you get your news?
love,

News flash..Don't know where you get your news, but the economy is doing very well.

My theory is no news is good news. (sm)
If there is really a problem with your transcription, then I would not worry about it. They will get to you if you screw up.

As far as policies and procedures, look in your manual. I am sure they gave you info for all of that stuff. JMO.
My telephone service is VOIP, but it s through my cable service, along with my cable internet. .
We have had VOIP for about a year now and I love it. I really can't tell a difference in traditional service, except the price. One of the best calls of my life was to Bellsouth to cancel our service!
All's well that ends well

I probably wouldn't change anything. I was an MT for 15 years and it was a good ride. The last 5 years or so my salary began sliding until I couldn't make ends meet anymore. About a year ago I left the field to become a dialysis technician and just got accepted into nursing school. I wouldn't change the timing. Everything unfolded the way it was supposed to I guess.

I feel very sad for the loss of a great career. I loved being an MT and I miss it. I just couldn't hang in there anymore. Maybe I would have worked harder on my education while I had the chance. Other than that I don't have any regrets.

Woo! The Fun Never ENDS!
My new job. Grrrhhhh.

I like the job, but I'm irritated by Barb, our trainer/mentor/whip master.

She is on me like stink on a skunk.

Wow. I will give her one thing . . . she is right persistent. When she calls me lets it ring seven times until the answering machine picks up. She never leaves a message. Instead, Barb will hang up and re-dial. This morning I answered on the 77th ring. It was all I could stand.

They probably have to do it that way, because I'm certain a few of their new hires have escaped. Long term this is going to turn out to be a good job, but Barbie has to go.

She needs to hop in her little dream car and head on out to Malibu before I push her in the Easy Bake Oven.

"Ring.... rinnnnggggg..... riiiiiiiiiinnnnggggggggggg"

Spying my ID, I see that would be her now. Swell. Speak of the devil.

I'm trying to ignore it.

Did you ever see that fly paper that comes in a little tube that you hang from the ceiling to catch flies? This pre-dated the No Pest Strip that hung in a little box that looked like a slice of Velveeta so I'm giving my age away. I really hate fly paper. Invariably, if I come close to it that stuff is attracted to my hair like a magnet. It might catch flies, but it lethal to long hair.

"Rinnggggg.. ...... riiiinggggggg...... riiiinggggggg"

Yep. You got it.

Barb again. She never gives up. I suppose she missed the class in fifth grade on telephone etiquette when they said, "if people don't answer, they are not home!"

"Rinnggggg.. ...... riiiinggggggg...... riiingggggg . . . . .. riiiiiiiiing."

"Go away Barb."

"Rinnggggg.. ...... riiiinggggggg...... riiingggggg . . . . .. riiiiiiiiing."

Oh, that does it! I've had enough.

Today, I make sticky hat for Barb.

. . . or maybe, I can get one of those bug zapper things and interface that to my telephone?

Hmmmm . . . . now there's an idea. Once I get the TeleBug-Barb-Zapper perfected, they can take this transcription job and . . . . .

LAUNDRY! Never ends...

I agree. It never ends.

Yeppers, it never ends. (sm)

They act like they're doing you a huge favor to make $60.00 a day.  Who can get by on that????  I hear ya, I've worked for a company too where I made $3.00 an hour.  And they rant and rave about how good their company is, PULEEZE!  If they were so great they wouldn't be advertising!  If they paid well they wouldn't be advertising!  Wish they'd get the picture!  If they truly paid well and were good to work for we'd all be lined up to work for them!

Sick and tired.

Tue thru Sat, nights, so it ends up being Tue thru Sun. nm

We'd need to know the fax program used on both ends before we could help.

Not ALL MTs have fat rear ends or sm
never get out into the real world. I came from a hospital and I KNOW what EMR is all about and how savvy the docs are with computers. Your comment was offensive.
I have one who never ends his sentence
The whole body of the report is just one long run-on sentence, and I'm supposed to stop and start the sentences for him.
Comcast cable has ULD that goes through their cable sm
and there are no limitations. I asked them. They said that you could use the phone 24/7 and it would make no difference. The cable modem has a telephone connection and backup battery in there, all in one unit. If you lose your power, the backup battery kicks in for 12 hours I think they said. I personally was reluctant but it is clearer than Verizon regular phone service. Clear as a bell! It is $39.95 a month. If you have any cable service, you might want to check and see if they have this. This is VOiP protocol but I just have never seen anything that was as clear as theirs.

If Comcast has this, it is my guess that the other cable internet services either have it or will have it in the future. This is fairly new with Comcast.
small mentality usually means small pocketbook
Still make more than you and I but that is deserved. They've put the effort forward and educated themselves.

They don't realize that VR often ends up costing - sm
a whole lot more. Not just the software, equipment, upgrades, etc, but also the tech support, editors, and also trainers needed to introduce new staff to the system. Also time spent while doctors *train* the system. Then, when they ultimately give up and dump it 6 months or a year down the road, and can't get reimbursed for what they wasted on it, that's expensive, too.

For home things and general odds and ends Target

For groceries Super Walmart. I get my makeup and some hair necessities on-line from specialty websites.  For incidentals, impulse buys like clothes, purses, general fun junque, etc. I like street-side vendors, specialty shops, and some of my favorite chain stores like Kohl's (which I can't live without)!

I have good news and bad news 4U...
The good news is on Saturday, July 1 many of your least favorite residents will be "graduating." The bad news is that on the same day you'll be getting a virtual box of candy with brand new residents who have no clue how to dictate! RU excited?? ARGHHHH!!!!

Upper case is lower, lower case is upper. Using InstaText. Anyone know how to fix this?

Aargh.  It happened all day yesterday.  When I brought in text that was all caps

Cable
I notice you have Adelphia!I have it also in Ohio and am anxiously awaiting Time-Warner to take over and get Roadrunner. I've had problems and problems with it over the years. I can't get fast access with our phone company as they are not down our road yet (in country). You are lucky to be able to switch, though.
Anyone not have cable TV at all?

What do you watch?  It seems like the primetime sitcoms aren't very family friendly.  We just canceled our basic cable because they took two more channels away, Discovery and ABC Family, which meant we were paying $20 a month for TBS, PBS, and four free local channels.  Nobody watches channels like Home Shopping Network, QVC, or Government Access, so why do they even include them?  There's only one show I'll really miss, but it'll be out on DVD eventually.  Not that I even watched much TV.  The house just feels really quiet without any background noise.  Where's that Internet radio site I bookmarked?

If cable goes (sm)
Looking into Vonage and wondering about problems with cable if it goes down, not quite sure how it works. email me please about ur opinion

thanks much...
got rid of my cable, no more TV

cable
I have cable and love it. Before we moved here I lived where I could only get dial up. What a difference. It is worth the money!

Cable or DSL
I have had cable internet service and thinking of switching to Bell South Ultra Fast 6.0.  Do you think Bell South is okay too?
used to have cable
The vonage worked great but it never failed if I needed to work at night my connection went down for upgrades or someother unavoidable thing. I am sure it was my area because they were redoing all the wiring and such. Hope it goes well for you
do you have cable?
If you have cable in your house you can see if you your cable company offers phone service. The only truly unlimited phone plans I have found are cable phone and internet phone such as Vonage. Also you can check with your phone company. They may have a VoIP (internet) phone plan themselves.
Can't get cable where I'm at...
Only satellite. I will call my phone co. and ask about the VoIP. They're a rural company so I have no idea if they even offer it.
If you have not had cable before..sm
I am not sure how Charter does things, but I have Time Warner, who is the actual person(s) to be setting up your computer connection, etc. At that time, they will also set up an email account, give you a temporary password, which you can change to your preference after set up, and whatever else they need to do. They adjust signal quality, speed, etc. My user ID was chosen for me by the cable company..I did not have a choice, so not sure about Charter. but this is pretty much the norm. I would call Charter pretty quickly, as Time Warner always has like a two week delay as to when they can come and set things up. If you need to make an appointment and don't want to wait two weeks, I would do it now. good luck.
Cable vs DSL internet?
I have cable internet service and will be relocating soon to an area that has DSL.  Just wondering, since DSL goes through the phone line, is there any electrical involved; or should I say, if the electricity goes out does the DSL stop working.  I am wondering, if I invest in a laptop and have DSL also, if electricity goes out, would hardly miss any downtown, with the laptop having battery and all.   Is this correct?
