Yeah, I was kind of thinking it is pretty obvious

what she meant by her post. I think the other poster just has some issues with this subject and was being a little sensitive.

Right! It's pretty obvious who the miserable person is here!
No, but it's pretty obvious that the longer you leave it up,
the higher your chance is. That is why if you are not using it, you should shut it down.
Another management reply. Pretty obvious, huh?
:/
Seems obvious that she is thinking about taking an offer from another company
???
Kind of stating the obvious, aren't you? You bet I have a grudge against the... SM
AAMT. Look at the medical transcription industry, what exactly has the AAMT done to improve it? Wages have not gotten better over time, they have gotten worse. That right there is a big indicator that their association has done nothing for medical transcription. They do for themselves.
My grudge aside, I am being supportive to CS by telling her to forget about the AAMT and move forward in her career. She doesn't need the CMT credentials, none of us do.
As far as her problems with studying the weekend before the test, I hate to sound harsh - but if she were truly an experienced MT, one noisy weekend should not have affected her test scores to the point of failing. However, the CMT examination isn't truly a test of medical transcription. It is a test of how well you've memorized the BOS rules and regs.
CS is probably a very good MT and if she were tested on MT skills alone, her in-laws visiting her right before the test wouldn't have made that big of a difference. The fact is she had to memorize the BOS and that is probably where she failed. In my OPINION, that's not really failing.
Hence my initial comments that her only disappointment should be that she shelled out $298 bucks - not because she failed and is out the money, but because she shelled out her money for credentials that mean nothing. In my book, she was wasting her money pass or fail.
That is what I kind of was thinking...
that concentrating on just one specialty might be the way to go. I just don't have a lot of experience with psych work to know what I would be getting myself into :) Thanks for the reply.
That's kind of what I was thinking
and where I work there's really no way to send a note to the doctor. I appreciate all your replies.
Yeah, pretty much (sm)
That's why Sunday/Monday can be rough sometimes.
If I have nothing else going on I do stay up all night, preferably doing something productive. However, if I have to do something with "normal" people, I just try to take a nap Sunday evening.
Well, yeah, that's what it pretty much says.
QAs with carpal tunnel who've been QAs for years being told they need to take a step backwards to MT again. Would probably have better luck at larger more reputable companies who know the difference between QAs and MTs.
Yeah, I was actually thinking it would
help me lose the poundage and tone up to do a dance class. It's great cardiovascular exercise.
Yeah, that's just what I was thinking. You took
Another word that comes to mind is "management".
Yeah, I'm the one with issues. You just keep thinking that.
nm.
Yeah, I've been thinking about that lately.
We just had a new Starbucks open up here, but it's 10 miles away from my house. No way am I going to drive that far. They only pay their managers $8 an hour. As it is, both times I've been in there, they've messed up my order and the drink wasn't even hot. Yuck. Lukewarm mocha latte.
Yeah, you're right...what was I thinking?
Yeah, I was thinking that, but in my ankle?
Usually that is in the calf, is it not?
Ugh...I just don't need this right now.
Yeah and it pretty much stinks so far this season.
x
yeah, pretty much what we're saying, accounts set the rules
over anthing else. If JC says something to them - they will let us know.
Speaking of Kenny Chesney, is anyone thinking what I am thinking? see message
When I hear the words, "annulment" and "fraud" in the same sentence, I can only think of one thing. Anybody else thinking the same thing?
I think I'm pretty bright and pretty good, too, but
I am not a CMT. I am a medical transcriptionist who enjoys her job very much (most days). I have chosen not to pursue certification simply because I cannot afford to do so. I believe the certification is a nice thing to have, but I don't believe it is necessary for employment or for excellence in my job. If you can afford it, go for it. If you can't, don't feel too bad. You can still take pride in and do a very good job without it.
Might be obvious but who is SE?
nm
maybe you need a man because of your obvious
That's obvious-we all used to be something
but we don't make posts with our former titles. Get over it..
its you and its very obvious
Well then its obvious that you don't have much
faith in your children nor your parenting skills if you have not taught them how to make decisions for themselves.
It is obvious
they don't care. It is not only cardiac docs either.
Thank you, Dr. Obvious...
Doctor dictates:
"The patient takes Doxepin for insomnia. He has been taking 25 mg four of them at time, but I am prescribing 100 mg tablets which is the same."
This just made me giggle...
OK, now it's obvious to me...
could be wrong, but it seems that they are paying you ONLY after they get paid. That means you are at the mercy of the accounts payable department of the hospital... I never work for an MTSO when MY payment is tied to THEIR payment from their clients.
This may be obvious, but...
I am pretty sure that she was referring to the manner in which her very unsupportive post was worded, i.e. "a REAL transcriptionist". How in the world is that helping someone who is coming here for a little bit of help and, dare a person aspire for, a kind word... anyway, just mho.
Let's take a moment to put ourselves in her shoes instead of trying to think of a way to boost our own ego. Perhaps the place in which she worked had a different style, a different format. I even have done some recent work for a hospital who wants all of their references to the spinal disks spelled disc (even though this is specifically a no-no with AAMT). I'm not an expert, but if there were a helpful thing that I could think of to say, it would be to buy of borrow a current AAMT Book of Style (3rd Edition) and make sure that you are all up on your format and style. Anyway, good luck!!
It is so obvious
that some of these docs do not have the first idea what they are going to say when they dial in. They have not bothered to organize their thoughts or mentally outline what they intend to dictate. They just 'wing it,' go back and add, delete whole paragraphs, then maybe say virtually the same thing as the deleted section somewhere else. I've learned never to delete but to cut sections just in case they get pasted back in someplace else.
One guy in particular says things like: 'Put temperature was 98.3 degrees and say BP was 130/70 and write respirations were 18 and could you say weight was 225 pounds, and like, he was sort-of short of breath?'
How do you verbatim that? Dude! I'm not you pal and we're not having a conversation here. Do you realize I'm supposed to be transcribing EVERY SINGLE WORD YOU SAY?
Do you have any clue what they are up to. It is obvious they are up to something.
I just hope everyone is calling Corporate.
sorry for your obvious hairball. nm

It was such an obvious question
I am sorry but it was such an obvious question at least to me and kind of reminded me of a Jeff Foxworthy song/routine. They mail their payments to you where your business headquarters or your AP/AR is located. It is like your car insurance you drive in California but your insurance headquarters are located in Arizona so where do you mail your check??? Or the MT's that work in a different state, where do you send those checks? It just struck me ironic that someone who was thinking of doing what you are venturing out to do would have such a basic question to ask. Struck me as a little weird. And yes I have been an MTSO for 18+ years now. Good luck to you and I hope your accounts follow you with your move and you are able to pick up more accounts wherever you move. You might be the next big national and then you can come back and really let us have it. Again, good luck. Patti
It is SOOOOO obvious who you are
And it was so obvious last night who you were as you were posting with different names about what you were "eating". Please.
I am NOT starting flames. I was trying to let the OP know that not everyone on this site is mean and nasty. This place has really become a hole in the wall since you started frequenting the joint. Makes me wonder why I waste my time.
Obvious what 1 requirement is...
Obvioulsy one of the requirements of becoming an MT is rudeness and being quick to judge! I was just asking for suggestions and what being an MT entailed. In no way did I suggest that I had any idea about what MT requires of a person. Sheesh!
I know if someone posted on the engineering forums I am a part of I would be more than happy to give them suggestions on how to get started, different paths they could take, ect. Then again, I like to impart my experience so maybe I can help others learn from my mistakes so they don't have to make the same ones.
Obviously MTs work from home for a reason - seems that most of you don't work well with others!! Only 1 person actually took my post for what it was and told me their experience!! That's a real shame.
Obvious that law was written by men
Do they think that because we have breasts we can't drive correctly? OMG.
This is especially upsetting, seeing as most females who are getting permits are teenage years and breast cancer is not so common in that age range.
As an aside, a friend of mine had to go in for a mammogram a while back. Her insurance company refused to pay for it. Said it was not a necessary exam because she is "not old enough to need a mammogram". Her doc found a lump and wanted the test. Why is this not necessary?
I should think the answer would be obvious. They will take less money. nm
nm
dictator just stated the obvious
"ORAL tobaccoism" -- like what other kind is there !!
oh i suppose it could be cutaneous via patch, but sounded dumb...
It's obvious she didn't mean cases
that actually required ER attention. You are just stirring the pot.
It's quite obvious from your post that you have never suffered....sm
from depression and I take it from your moniker that you are a man, which explains a lot. Please refrain from commenting on things you obviously know NOTHING about.
Not obvious to me. Not all well-compensated MTs are in management.
They're just good at their job. Not hard to understand.
the overstating the obvious award goes to
gotta love residents - "the left lower extremity part of the physical exam could not be performed due to a left lower extremity amputation."
So true. Or an obvious misspelling does not

This is such an assinine remark, obvious you

IMO, a thread is closed when it is obvious
that nothing new is added to the OP and it deteriorates into a 'troll', unjustified insults, foul language and just tit for tat, going in circles.
True, as the moderator pointed out, it is not moderated for 'niceness.' but the post has to be civil. One can make a stronger point with politeness than with disrespect.
obvious management post here as usual nm

You're math is correct. It is obvious
the new plan is designed to reward high producers. There's no away around that fact. If you currently do 1200 lines a day and you want to earn incentive on the new plan, you will have to either get faster for the same hours you work now or restructure your work days to be longer and get more production.
I think everyone has the idea that a new plan means that everyone is going to benefit and that everything is going to automatically be better and improved for all. Not true.
MQ has changed their pay and benefits plan to better increase their revenue. They were not making changes to harm nor help MTs, necessarily. These are business decisions. This is now what they are offering for pay and benefits and we can take it or leave it.
Personally, I believe they want fewer employees, all high producers, and it would be cheaper for MQ to have a smaller workforce of high-producing MTs and pay them overtime than an abundance of low to mid-range producers. This plan will help ensure some of that.
Regardless of what some of the mealy mouths say on this board about me, I am not happy with the way this plan impacts all MTs. Not at all. I'm just not going to be upset about it because every single one of us do have options and those who feel uneasy about this plan should heed their intuition and explore other options.
I think this is the beginning of a slow attrition among the MT workforce.
This is strictly my opinion.
What is with all the obvious spam postings today?

Your obvious ignorance is not worth responding to, NM

When are people going to look past the obvious "someone got my job"
s
Yes, I thought that was obvious. I totally understand that too. sm
Even though I'm listening to the reports and typing them out then doing my own proofing and editing someone is having to listen to them again and correct my errors. THAT person deserves and needs to be paid as well. Not to mention the company needs to make a little profit. So even if the company is being paid say, 12cpl, after paying me and my QA I'm sure it comes out fair.
I want to thank everyone here for their advice and opinions and helping me to sort this out in my own mind.
I think I am getting a fair wage.
It's obvious that you don't bother to read posts...
just post garbage comments.
