We're getting lovely soft quiet snow now.
It's winding down now (2200 hours) here near Bangor, ME, but it was just so beautiful and soft--super fine and it looks like glitter when light hits it from flashlights or porch lights. It really is quite beautiful out there and not too awfully cold. No wind to speak of and everything is muffled quiet-like. Just beautiful and the animals are having an absolute blast playing in it!
You're in or near White Plains?! I used to live there!
I wish I would have known that at the time!
Oh, I forgot. You're only allowed to hate and resent white people.
.
You can tell they're White Anglo Saxon Protestants (WASPs) by voice alone?
What if they're:
Catholic
Jewish
Italian
Polish
etc.
etc.
etc.
Why the animosity? Jealous?
Elimiate white flour and white sugar from your diet.
theoretically not, but practically, yes..nm
nm
Right, but practically speaking,
nowadays, when saying EMR 'point and click' is understood, AVR is automated voice recognition and then there is standard transcription.
When O says 'EMR', he means '
point and click'.
You better believe it.
Sounds like MS Florida! Practically have to tell them...
how many lines you actually worked and what you should be paid. I QUIT! If I have to be payroll person, I'll do it with an IC account. Sheesh!!!!
Why not leave them white or off-white and use
accessories and window treatments to bring it together. Personally, I like neutral color walls and like to decorate around them. You can bring the rooms together with nice window treatments, throw pillows, and candles with candle holders.
Pier-1 imports has great decorating ideas.
Good luck.
We keep all of ours on 24/7 unless there's a T-storm. nm
s
That's not the standard rate. I'd keep that job. I've had to beg practically to get 4.5 cpl
might get 5 cpl as a IC but that's about it. If there are more companies out there paying over that, sign me up and give me names LOL
storm surge
when is storm surge due to hit?
I hope he calls tonight. I just hate crying at work :)
storm anxiety
I'm in Tampa, the lightning capital of the country, and my poor dog has gone crazy ever since our house was struck by lightning (scared us humans pretty bad too). Storms come up so fast that tranquilizers don't kick in fast enough. My vet suggested turning on music, which helps some. I've also created a safe space for him inside my bedroom closet. If at all possible I wouldn't leave your dog outside. Lots of dogs here panic during storms, get out, and get lost.
Let me tell you something about working in a storm
I would NEVER work during a storm. Anytime you hear thunder, the lightning is not far behind. We have had 3 cases in my state- 1 a lady was sitting on her toilet, her home hit by lightning and she was killed by it coming thru the plumbing. The second was someone on the internet typing and lightning again and she was knocked out of her chair. The third is me and I was not working at that time but went into work room, smelled something like burnt rubber and my monitor completely gone. Oh, and I forgot to mention, one of my coworkers had a much dire consequence. Lightning once again and her entire CPU gone. I also do not talk on the phone nor would I take a shower. You are right to be afraid of being zapped.
I tell a complete stranger my whole life history practically.
I'm suddenly realizing that I have isolated myself and that I have no real friends and the only adult conversation I have is with my DH. While I love by DH dearly and he is my bestest friend, sometimes you need other conversations/relationships.
Had a resident who practically giggled through his entire dictation....
because his psych patient kept asking him if he wanted to see her underwear (she was in her 70s). I didn't find the woman's comment so funny, but this doc had the weirdest laugh...it was like Ernie from Bert & Ernie on Sesame Street. Weird.
BTDT. I worked for a large national. I had to practically get down
on my knees and beg for a secondary. Got one, had even less work than my primary. I went to upper management and got a third account, even less work that primary again, so 3 accounts, and still not getting in but about 600 lines/day.
The storm surge of 28 feet is said what will cause
There are many people who have remained in their homes as they are poor, disabled or quite elderly.
Hard to imagine how they would expect 485,000 people could evacuate in one day.
Yes, have been there, too. It is so historic and a great vacation place.
If the predictions come true, this city may require rebuilding.
I just cannot believe the magnitude of this event. I shudder at the thought of what tomorrow with bring.
Have you noticed that practically all the job postings these days say experience with ESLs. It seems
like without good ESL experience anymore you wont even get a job. I think it is really heading that way. I do ESLs but not a lot so I need to get more experience doing that and take a big cut in pay to learn it but seems like it is almost a necessity.
Been typing up a storm, now have tender fingertips
I have to type for 10 hrs a day right now. Can anyone recommend a soft touch keyboard that is under 100 dollars? Has anyone ever typed so much that it felt as if the fingertips were bruised? Mine feel so tender. I have been doing this for over 20 years and have never had this happen!
Thanks in advance!
I would get off during a lightening storm. My neighbors equipment got fried. sm
my TV volume got fried during a storm. My company has told all of us that if we fry our computers during a storm, we have to replace them. I can't afford that. I wouldn't risk it.
Storm malware shapes up as worst 'weather' in years
Storm malware shapes up as worst 'weather' in years
Symantec: Web hasn't seen an infection like this since 2005's Sober.O
Robert McMillan
January 22, 2007 (IDG News Service) -- Malicious software that was sent out in millions of spam messages over the weekend has now infected about 300,000 computers, making it the worst malware outbreak since 2005, Symantec Corp. said Monday.
The so calledStorm Worm e-mail messages first started appearing last Wednesday, advertising attached news reports on topics like "230 Dead as storm batters Europe," or U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice has kicked German Chancellor."
The attachments have names such as "Full Story.exe" or "Full Video.exe." Once they are launched, these files install malicious software that then waits to receive further instructions over the Internet.
The malware is not actually a worm, however, and infected PCs do not immediately start spreading the software to other computers. Instead, Storm has been spreading more rapidly over the past few days as its creators have pumped out more and more malicious e-mail messages.
"Over the weekend, it really kicked into high gear," said Patrick Martin, senior product manager with Symantec Security Response.
The last time malicious software spread this quickly was in May 2005, when the Sober.O mass-mailing worm affected a similar number of systems, Martin said.
The latest versions of the worm include similarly provocative news headlines and malicious attachments, but the criminals have added a twist over the past few days: the text of the e-mail messages now contains glowing reviews of penny stocks, apparently designed to fuel "pump and dump" stock scams.
Some of the e-mail messages have also been changed to prey on the romantic, security vendor F-Secure Corp. warned. Recent versions of these Trojan e-mails have contained subject lines such as "A Bouquet of Love," "A Day in Bed Coupon," or "A Monkey Rose for You."
After living thru 3 hurricanes last year, including Tropical Storm Bonnie, EVERYONE
coastal or inland, and 50 miles east or west, should be prepared - no matter how far inland you live. Check out www.themountaineer.com to see the pics on the flooding that happened in the mountains of N.C. from the remnants. In Jacksonville,FL we first received a large tornado from T.S.Bonnie,which was nowhere near us,and it was downhill from there. After Charlie, we got our power and phone back 2 days before Frances came and knocked them out again. When the meat began to defrost, we fired up the grill and cooked everything and invited the entire neighborhood. Everyone brought something to contribute, whether it was canned beans or Twinkies. After having to evacuate for Hurricane Floyd a few years ago, I am,and will always be,prepared. You don't have to have a lot of money to prepare. When hurricane season gets close, purchase a couple extra cans of food everytime you go shopping and SET THEM ASIDE. Save and clean your milk jugs or even the plastic soda bottles. FEMA cannot always get there immediately, especially when there is extensive damage. I was a claims adjuster during Hurricane Andrew. There was debris, damaged vehicles, trees and powerlines everywhere. It took us over 4 hours to go less than 10 miles. Imagine what FEMA had to deal with to get their big trucks in. There is absolutely NO REASON for ANYONE in Florida or the other gulf states (that's right - STATES - not just the coast)not to be prepared when hurricane season starts. Do not wait until a storm is expected to strike your area in 2 days. Florida is one of the most prepared states in the hurricane zones and look at the trouble they are having. The government is there to help provide with immediate necessities - not to rebuild your life. That is up to you.
We played our rescue's favorite game if she started looking worried when a storm came up.
Normally we would do as mistoo does and ignore the storm, and she did fine. But one storm was particularly loud, so she seemed a bit anxious. I got down into "let's play" position on the floor, and proceded to play a nice loud growly-bump game with her. We had a good time, and the exercise not only distracted her, but the physical exertion calmed her nerves and made her very happy.
Recently I kept my sister's dog for a week and discovered that fireworks cause her to shake terribly. I called my sister, who had never seen her quake with fear - because they leave the dog outside all the time. So all those times fireworks have gone off in the neighborhood, her dog has been outside alone, quaking in fear. So sad. For her nerves I put a T-shirt on her (supposed to be calming to put on semi-tight clothes) and let her sit in my lap on the couch. Yup, all 50 lb of border collie up on my lap, LOL.
Wow, we are having one heck of a thunder and lightening storm from the heat, finally started to rain
some.....gonna hit 105 here in VA (near Richmond)....yikes! Hope we don't lose power, have 1 stand fan and 1 window fan if power does go (have a generator) but still, way to little for such heat. Our poor AC is gonna blow (along with the electric bill).
I want snow, if only for a day, we never get any!

Snow
I live in Massachusetts and we have just about 12 inches of snow on the ground right now. Yay....
snow
Ohhh...I miss MA and NH so much! Moved back home to OK in 2001. Just had a good ice storm the last 3 days with snow forecast for the weekend..a whopping 2-5 inches (whah...paralyzed everybody!) Sure did love the sledding up there!! Loved it ALL and sure miss it!!
Snow
It's beautiful here in Massachusetts right now, but preety cold. The kids are hoping for a snow day tomorrow! Me too!
Snow
We got almost a foot in Western Massachusetts and a Noreaster is on its way! Very pretty for sure. My children were hoping for a snow day today, no such luck. Maybe Monday!
no snow :)
I used to live up north and I am quite happy without ever having snow again. I love the snow we had last year 1 day which was just a tracing and by 10:00 it was summer again :) I heard we may get a little dusting this week.
Snow in Colorado
It snows more up north than it does out on the southeastern plains near Pueblo. I live there. We really need snow and some moisture. It's been like that for 5 or more years.
? For Snow Bunny
Somewhere on the board, I read that you mentioned a website www.productivity.com. I keyed that in and good a website for some kind of tool manufacturer. Could you double check the addy for the website - I can use all the help I can get to get my counts up.
SNOW BUNNY NEED YOUR
help. Now have involuntary jerking of hands and will be typing and hands just collapse downward. Is there a program that we can talk into and it will type the words for us? Please send me an email if you know of such a thing.
Snow Bunny - yes!
All the great classics! You ROCK, Mellencamp or not!
Snow Bunny
I am not on a high horse and I have no idea how on earth why you are so angry that I am happy to have a job for the rest of my working life. My post was merely made to share with others who have not experienced VR yet that it is nothing to be afraid of. Your tirade is completely inappropriate and off the mark.
I work in a very large teaching and research hospital where they dictate over the phone lines - they don't have the time to customize the VR and what we get in this hospital probably isn't as clean as what you get from a clinic or a hospital with a more stable dictating population.
I enjoy doing it and it entertains me to see how the computer prints out things phonetically.
You should consider another user name - bunnies are nice and snuggly - might I suggest Rabid Rabbit?
Okay, I think I know what snow bunny is saying
It doesn't seem like all opinions are welcome. Someone protested about the fact they do not celebrate Christmas, and then we are bombarded with Merry Christmas all over the place..obviously trying to "stir things up." Last week someone posted the word "God" in a non-religious tone, someone complained, and then someone posted "God" to try to stir things up, then that one gets erased. Why are you picking and choosing, I know you're the owner, but as the owner aren't you supposed to be neutral?
Snow Bunny-I need you....
would you please email me? i was wondering if you could help me with dns, i have questions about dns and working in templates. it seems that you've had great luck with this product so i was hoping that you might know how to guide me. TIA!!!!
How many of those outsourced MTs have even seen snow??
:=
Snow bunny is the one to ask on this - sm
she uses it and swears by it, but I know she stresss training and a good mic. I have the DVR Medical V.8, but I have been too lazy to train it and use it consistently. Plus I am not sure it would work for me except for a few doctors I do as I would have to do a lot of copy and pasting if I used it (use WP5.1) in WP11. My WP5.1 macros don't work in the WP format even in the blue window which stinks. If I could use them I would use it in a heart beat as I think it would be faster for me in the long run, but this is beside the point. If you do decide to try it buy the right one, the medical one is what you would want. I got mine on ebay for abour $300 (which I resold), then bought the upgrade for $150. So I spent about $200 for my whole set up. So you can buy it relatively cheaply if you look. Good luck.
No snow here...and happy!!
Lived up north, moved south and am quite happy. I do miss it at Christmas time though
thanks so much snow bunny-
fortunately no, not a lot of snow days, but...
this school "year" we have a week off every dagum month! Except for Oct and March, I think. I feel that we are progressing towards the same year round schedule as the other poster...nine weeks on, two weeks off, etc. Which I don't know if I'll like or not. I have a 6 YO son and he needs the structure, schedule, etc. Not two weeks or a week off every time we turn around. Their first week off is Sep 5-9! How crazy is that. A week off a month after school starts. But, I don't make the rules, I just have to adjust to them. Bon voyage, summer!
Snow, they are totally different classifications.
xx
Thanks Snow Bunny, I'll do that
And yes I do use an ergonomic keyboard, but it just seems the longer I do this, the less I can get done in a day because I can hardly type after 5-6 hours.
sleet and snow in texas!
what a nice change. We went from 88 to 20 degrees, it's awesome!
snow would be the deal breaker for me
I like to see it snow here about once a year and then I want it to be gone after a day or so. This past winter we barely got a few flakes. It was actually too warm most of this winter, even for me. I love the spring and fall in NC. Starting to get some really warm days now though.
Oh, and love me some sweet tea. Don't think I could live without that! Bojangles sweet tea is the best!!!
yes, Snow Bunny, I don't have a clue what
your point is. Explain, please.
Me too. Snow Bunny turned me on to it. I use it every day. nm
