We actually had some old 8 mm movies...
put on video (some years back) and they must have thought we were a bunch of hicks because to go along with our vintage 1960s era Christmas morning movie, they put the movie to music, of all things, Turkey In The Straw. I actually went on E-bay and bought an old projector that plays 8mm and super 8mm and we watch all the old movies on an old projector. It's fun, but I know they will deteriorate eventually. Nothing more weird than seeing my mother at age 27 (5 yrs before I was born), dragging on a cigarette. She quit when I was 3, so I have no memory of this. Old movies are so much fun.
He has been in a lot of movies and was
voted People Magazines Sexiest Man Alive this year.
movies
That's a difficult one - probably would include From here to eternity (the original), i'm telling my age! Cape Fear, urban cowboy!
fav movies
1. The Frenchman and the Beautician
2. Top Gun
3. Meet The Fockers
movies
I also loved history of violence, I didn't think I liked that main guy in an old movie, but he was quite good! And I think william hurt played an excellent mean person (is that a compliment??)
I think it's because he's doing too much. Look at how many movies he's made in the last fe
all in a row. Plus, the divorce surely is adding to that. As far as Angelina, don't blame her. If Brad was in love with his wife, he wouldn't have strayed. Plus, it obviously isn't just an "affair." It seems they are developing a relationship. Also, don't forget, Angelina was the victim of a cheating husband and had her heart broken, so she knows that pain. I think Brad and Jennifer spent too much time apart. And he does have a history of falling in love with his co-stars - Gwyneth and Juliette to name two.
Seen any good movies lately?
I liked The Pacifier and National Treasure. We are planning on having an outdoor movie night using a white sheet nailed to the side of the house and a projector to the DVD player on the computer, but I can't think of anything good to rent.
Scary movies
Creature From The Black Lagoon.
The original Phantom of the Opera with Lon Chaney.
Pay per view movies
Our pay per view channels are the 100's. Your system might be different. Our system is supposed to be connected to a phone line always, but a lot of the time it is not. We can usually still order movies with our remote. My SIL only has a cell phone now, so I do not know how she does it. We select the channel with the movie that we want. Press info. You can arrow up to exit if you do not want to purchase the program, or press menu to purchase the program. Our system is older, so yours may work a little differently. W have learned to be very careful because it is easy to order a movie that you really do not intend to. Sometimes you can go into purchases and cancel. With some things, you cannot. My husband, who is very technically challenged, sat there one night and accidently surfed where he did not belong and accidently rented some kind of special adult presentation. We immediately tried to cancel, but were unable to do so. You can also go online to rent a movie, which is also easy, or you can do so by phone.
when movies were 25 cents and you could...sm
send 10 letters thru the post office on $1.00
geesh - I'm older than dirt.......*LOL*
Drive in Movies sm
I remember as a kid going to the drive-in movies with my mom hiding us in the backseat so as not to have to pay for all of us.
As a kid I remember the amusement truck coming around and we could take a ride on the "whip" for $0.25.
I remember when it was legal to open the fire hydrant and get wet during hot summer days. (Yes, I lived in a "city").
I remember "Happy Days" was the hit show when I was a teen and the boys tried to look and be like the "Fonze".
I also remember as a teen, a bag of Doritos was $0.25.
Can you guess my age?
(Hint - between 37 and 39) LOL.
I love old movies too...
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
Barefoot In The Park
Gone With The Wind...I love them all!
Well, I like his movies, so neener.

How do you order movies from Direct TV?
I'm a fairly new subscriber to Direct TV and up until now when we wanted to watch a movie, we would just go to the video store and rent one. I know Direct TV lets you order those movies from them and they put it on your bill and you get to watch the movie when you want to. Do any of you do this and do you find it more convenient/more expensive? Also, do you have to have a phone line to do this? Exactly how does it work? Thank you for the info and feeling a little dumb having to ask!
what are your favorite top 3 movies of all time?
1. A River Runs Through It
2. The Notebook
3. Bladerunner
Some older movies, but good ones...
The Life of David Gale...excellent movie...Kevin Spacey, I think...
Mona Lisa Smile...Julia Roberts...I really liked this one, so did my teenage daughter...
Forrest Gump, of course, one of my all-time favorites...we all know who he is (and the soundtrack is awesome)!!!
Have a lovely weekend...
Movies that are so bad they're good.
I'm gonna check that one out. I love movies like that. Nicholas Cage in Vampire's Kiss - same story, very young, bad movie, but boy did he give it his all. Talk about over acting.
Jack Nicholson movies
He is my favorite actor and starred in two of the funniest movies I ever saw: Goin' South (which he also directed) and The Fortune (with Warren Beatty)--both hard to find but absolutely hilarious!
You want strange movies - check out the
Joaquin Phoenix and Vince Vaughn was really a good one. Also, I happened to come across a movie about 3 or 4 years ago that turned out to be one of my favorites - Last of the Dogmen with Tom Berringer and Barbara Hersey - I HIGHLY recommend this movie - It's not a war movie but I don't want to tell you what it's about because it would ruin the surprise.
Typing Captions for TV&Movies
Does anyone here type captions? I want to know more about this, as I was watching TV w the captions on and wondering who types the words. I wonder if you just get to watch TV and type what you hear all day long...that would be so sweet.
totally agree on Heston movies....nm

Top 100 inspiring movies on tonight, CBS, 8-11pm. nm

I was watching one of the Freddy movies where the girl was pregnant.
Anyway, I slept in the basement and my parents slept upstairs. It was about midnight when I was watching this Nightmare on Elm Street movie. Our dogs were in the kennel next to my bedroom and started whining. I heard something thump in the ceiling of my bedroom, so I hightailed it upstairs to sleep on the couch. The next morning, we saw what looked like a coiled up snake inside the fluorescent light fixture in my bedroom. It was a studded dog collar and a rusty butcher knife inside the fixture. How it got there, we don't know but it wasn't there before I watched the movie. We can only guess that someone or something was after me that night. I stopped watching scary movies for about 15 years after that. Now, to see snippets of the Nightmare movies, they're so lame and fake.
Watch the original, its funny too- one of my favorite movies - sm
George Segal and Jane Fonda-- curious about the remake.
Same theme, but CBS on Wed. is to review the top 100 inspirational movies. Should be good! nm

How could you forget Tom Hanks?? I've loved all of his movies
x
I used to love scary movies but now I can't even consider watching them. Guess I've changes i
Yeah! We would go to the movies for 75c - triple feature horror flicks -
Vincent Price and Boris Karloff. Of course, we were too busy 'making out' to watch the movies! That is, until the usher came by a shined the flashlight on us!
The price of gasoline is reflected in the price of goods. Having said that, one item
higher, MOMENTARILY, than Walmart, does not really make a case against Walmart. You want to make Walmart a bad guy because they don't have a shopper out there matching the grocery stores' price so be it. But MOST people I know shop at Walmart for lower groceries prices AS A WHOLE, and that is what makes Walmart successful. So buy your cheaper Bounty towels at your grocery store if that makes you happy. Your grocery store HAS TO MAKE MONEY and they will get you on something else. It is the retail law. Walmart will not be successful with higher prices than the grocery store. They aim to succeed. They have been sucessful in undercutting other stores. Your Bounty towels will not bring down the Walmart empire but it may cause you to shop at your grocery store where they will charge you more on other items to stay in business. Quit the knee-jerk responses. If you don't like Walmart and don't want to shop there that's all well and good. If you don't shop there because of Bounty towels, well that's just crazy.
Yep! Especially late afternoon.. nm

Working until this afternoon, then
cooking, eating, watching movies. I made the stuffing yesterday, all I have to do is put it in the oven, along with other goodies.
I Found It this afternoon - NM
NM
I told my Mom just that this afternoon
I typed 2000 lines yesterday and it only took me 6 hours and that averages to be 30.00 an hour...I can't make that working outside of the home...I get paid full-time wages but only work part-time...that would never happen outside of the home either...I am so thankful for my job...no complaining here
Mid-afternoon Slump
Any suggestions on what to do for that mid-afternoon slump? I get so blah about this time of day, it's all I can do to stay awake.

Mid afternoon slump
Thanks for the suggestion. Sounds good to me! Now if I can get my hubby to go to the store for me. I'm to try anything at this point. I think my biological clock thinks I'm supposed to have an afternoon siesta.
Do you know any males you can "borrow" for the afternoon?
It's really hard to do this, but congrats on wanting to! If you can borrow a male, even a 20-something, it seems to make a difference in these kinds of atmospheres, and you get better, more honest answers.
Had a car-buying experience when I was married, the husband came with me when it came time to sign on the dotted line. We found the car, negotiated the deal and I signed. Husband went to his 2nd shift job and I waited while they prepped the car.
Unbeknownst to me, someone else made a slightly better bid on the same car a few minutes later, and since I was alone by that point, waiting, they kept me on the hook 2+ more hours, had me talk to a loan officer with some sad story (we already had the financing)and generally tried to make me back off on the signed contract, AFTER the husband was gone.
I sat and watched soaps for 2 hours, kept my cool, they finally got tired of the run-around, and I drove away smiling in MY new car. The dorks.
So, borrow a guy for a few hours, from somewhere reliable, and have a BALL while you do this!
I agree...call the afternoon before just to be sure...nm

I work afternoon/evenings and 1 day wkend
but that is ok with me as my home situation fits that. I am sure there are places that have days but it seems like most places are going for the 1 day per weekend work situation.
My daughter's elementary school was on lock down yesterday afternoon cause some freak in a red S
truck drove onto school property behind the school (where the playground is) and tried to get some kids on recess to get into his truck! Thankfully the teachers on recess duty were paying attention and gathered all the kids back into the building and the school went on lock down. The police showed up within minutes, but the guy took off before they got there. So now they are looking for him. The news was parked in front of my house most of the morning this morning. I live directly across the street from the school.
It's just scary out there. My daughter who is in kindergarten was matter of fact about the whole thing. All she said when she gave me the note from the principal telling parents what happen was "It was for real mom. We thought it was a drill, but it was for real." Then I thought what a sad state this world is in when our schools have lock down drills now in addition to fire and tornado drills.
I live in a small town too and had a false sense of security until the Amish news and until yesterday. It seems like you simply aren't safe anywhere anymore.
No, it is NOT your price to pay SM
unless you continue to allow the "price" to be extracted from you. There are companies out there who value what you have to offer. Sounds like it is time for a heart-to-heart with your current company regarding at least being adequately compensated for doing all the crap dictation (believe me, they KNOW you are doing it) and if that fails...MOVE ON.
I feel for you and I hope this helps but if you continue to allow yourself to be used/abused to the point it is ruining your life...sorry but don't look to me for sympathy, you DO have options and working at Mickey D's is not the only option.
Not sure what that has to do with the price of tea, but I
still recommend them. Better than paying a big bill. I average 8000 minutes a month and they do not complain at all.
Price
It's around 12 cents where I am. However, this is a red flag that they are looking and you should be looking for a new client and dump them. Believe me, they will dump you if they're thinking about it. Too bad, if you're good, good ones are hard to find but they have to find that out the hard way. The buck is top priority. Good luck to you.
Where did you get the price?
x
Sure am. The price of EVERYTHING is going up and
the taxes are through the roof, but my pay would go DOWN if I didn't work longer and harder to make the same amount. This really isn't good! but it's life, so we plug along and live (or at least WORK).
My price - PS
I know my prices sound low but it is gross line and a letter is counted from the date to the signature line and blank lines count. That is the way that the company did prior to me taking the account over, very upfront about it and I continue to do the same and everyone knows about it. So that is why my rate to them in .115 per line but it adds up as they are surgeons. They prefer looking at the lower rate per line. I know it is the "old way" of counting lines -- use word and take the total amount of lines and that is my line count. Now you know why I don't want to give up this account.
Best was would be to price it out..sm
DHL, UPS, rental the smallest U-haul trailer and drive it home. Network with fellow MTs and see if anyone from that area is headed your way?
price
To me it seems a little low, depends on if you get a lot of consults or if it is just patient notes. Psych consults can have a lot of tests that take a while to set up in a template but once set up, as long as the dictators dictate them the same way, you can use them. My psych account I do for 11 cpl gross line and we have just converted over to digital. Used to pick up and E-mail back. But I do not have 24 TAT, I pick up on Th/Fri and have to have back by Weds night. Also depends on how may dictators you have and if you can do normals, templates, etc. Also each doc could want the same test set up differently. But you have it now, see how it goes and go from there. If you find it is too low, tell them and up it. Again, depends on if it is chart notes or consults. Sounds like you will be having your hands full to say the least. Congrats and best of luck. I do two psych, one for ADD children/adults and one that does a lot of consults for traumatic brain problems/cognitive and voc rehab.
Patti
I think the price was too low.
somewhere around 11 would have been fair. Of course they say, you only press a button and it pops up. I had a doc tell me about how he dictates the same paragraph with his normals and wanted a discount because of that. I told him he could just add in that part when he got the report back, since it was so easy.
In your presentations, keep talking quality when your clients are talking cheap. Show them how nice the finished product is and tell them you would be happy to work with the docs to help them make templates for redundant work so that --here's the kicker-- they don't have to dictate the same thing over and over again. Sell that the technology is for their benefit to make their lives easier. And again, when they say the little "but you only have to" just smile and say, how about if your staff just adds that when it comes back then...
Don't feel bad about underbidding. Do a really, really good job - spend some time in the office developing a relationship so they know you are a real person. I like to take my kids with sometimes when I drop by so they know when they sign the check, it's not going to a corp but to a family. Go high end on the service, get it set up so it works real good, then raise your rates. You asked about a fair rate and this rate is not fair to you.
Email me with any other questions. We can talk over some of your options and do some trouble shooting.
Not for that price
$18+/hour. I make more as an MT, but I would not consider anything less. I took a cheapy $14/hr QA job and the owner treated me like dirt. No way.
Seems to me for the price of the
book that AAMT should have used spell check before sending it to the publisher. After all, they are the ones who make all the rules, or are they exempt?
