once did not get paid by a psychologist.
This was a forensic psychologist - my daughter's cleint and he owed her money.  I said tell him you're taking a vacation and I'll fill in.  He dictated a 21 page report in bits and pieces, requiring several trips to pick up tapes. I had to insert sections here and there, fax to him, make the revisions, and print the final.  There was a court date.  I called and said the final was ready but please mail my check first, and also mail my daughter's check.  He was a nut case on the phone, accusing us of overcharging, slow turn-around, yelling, condemning, venting, swearing, going on and on.  My daughter had said that that was standard operating procedure for him.  I waited for the court date to draw near. Finally he said he would give us the checks on delivery.  I said cash or money order and I specified the amounts.   When he said he had the money in hand, I sent my beefy 20-year-old son to deliver the product and make the collection.   I told him we would not be able to work for him again.  He had the nerve to call a few months later - he had several tapes.  We said no way Jose! (not his name).
Before the doc would prescribe anything to my brother, he had to see a psychologist and undergo
a series of tests that took about seven hours to complete in order to make the diagnosis of ADD.  Then once the diagnosis was made, the doc started talking about medicines.  I didn't think you could walk into your doctor's office say "I think I have ADD" and just get medicine for it.
