Without too much effort?! A good yard sale takes a good deal of effort, IMO.

Isolation-bad...it takes a lot of effort. Do you have
a window nearby? I put a bird feeder that suctions to the window so at least in the nice weather I can watch the birds. The huge blue jays come right to the window and it is funny to watch. I also play the TV in the other room but I can hear it and I do not feel so alone.

I play guitar so that has helped me (saved me actually) a lot. Do you have any other interests, say like knitting or anything?

Because I also have SAD I turn all the lights on now on the gloomy days, that helps a lot.

Do you have any pets? We even had a goldfish that brought me a lot of happiness believe it or not (until he died and now he is in my plant!). They can be relaxing to watch in a decent sized bowl.

Lastly, of course, do you exercise? Walking releases your body's own natural tranquilizer, the endorphins, 20 minutes 3 times/week, or even in your house.

I also picked up Suzanne Somer's EZ Gym and use that occasionally in between real
"abusive" dictations.

Best to you,
Only if you want..its all about attitude and effort.

I think this is a noble cause/effort but it will
It is about money.

It costs less for businesses (nationals, small MTSOs, hospitals) to send their transcription overseas. Less costs to business relate to less costs to consumers and more insurance profits.

When it fails, and it will, all of you will be more angry, more upset, and feel more cheated.

Not worth the effort - probably
But if you do it, target carefully and always follow up the letter with a phone call.

(call first and find out the name of the person/administrator who would consider your letter) then call that person back.
And maybe you both should pur forth a little effort little nicer in the AM. What I said was
at being a little bit nicer in the AM. What I said was possible Adware. What a sally that you think I would allow that type of trash to rear its ugly head on any of my PCs. NO NO NO. I have far more superior PC knowledge than to allow that to happen to me, but I have received e-mails from others who visit this site and are perturbed by it.
My post was for the benefit of MTs who have little or no knowledge regarding safeguarding their PCs and are not afraid to ask for help.
Therefore, if this does not apply to you, MYOB. NO need for argumentative posts, nor do I have the time for those who are habitally and perennially in that simple-minded mindset.
Have a great day all!
If you aren't willing to make any effort
to get the information you need ("no patience", indeed), then why should anyone take time from their own lives to do your research for you? You're the one who wants the answer. Do your own work.
If everyone wanted to make a little effort...
And take an area to call, I bet the information could be obtained from the hospitals, etc. There is no reason you couldn't call and say you are considering a procedure/doc there and want to ensure your private information is secure and you would like to know if their billing/transcription is done in-house, outsourced or both, and if outsourced, to whom. I have received answers, but sometimes I have had to make a few more calls.
Effort is not enough...c'mon, brud plessure??? nm

What a shame. All that time and effort for HIPAA regs, but not for this. (nm)
(nm)
What an incredibly fruitless effort. People, you need to realize
The chance to have done something has long since come and gone.  Just give it up.
A big waste of effort and money. You won't make 1 penny more.

Yard sale
The 4th would be okay if your area gets a lot of traffic. A lot of people "running around" on the holiday weekend. I have known people who did very well on holiday weekends.

Just to warn, clothes don't sell well. Toys, baby items, household items are good sellers. I like to price toward the lower end so that I get rid of it. Those who price high take the risk that the buyer won't bother to "haggle". But you should stand firm if you feel a price is fair, maybe give in if it is getting towards the end of the day.

Have a good one!!!
It is an okay deal - TR 11 font is small. Not as good a deal as Courier.
Personally, I would have to think really hard and compare reports and line counts, like the other poster below suggested, before I would jump right into it. It is probably 75-80 characters to a line +/- the single character lines you get for initials, and 2 word lines you get with op reports such as Surgeon:
IV Fluids:
Anesthesia:
etc.

It probably is comparable to 9 cpl with a larger font.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

Good Luck!
Having my first yard sale. Any suggestions?

It will be some time in July.  Any particular weekend that would be best?  Probably not around the 4th because people will be out of town, right?

Have lots of clothes and other stuff.  Anything that I haven't used in the last 6 weeks or that was not a gift is going.  No more clutter for me!

I've never had a yard sale before.  Is there anything I should know?  Oh, and I hate to haggle.  Should I price to high and take the first offer or just price low and stand firm (who me?).  I'm not looking to make a fortune.  I just want to get rid of my junk and have a little to show for it.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Does anyone know how to reset a DVI? I purchased one at a yard sale and *sm*
it did not come with a manual.  I am trying to use it for the first time and the dial tone comes up but it is asking for a log in ID.   I would also like to purchase a manual if anyone has one.  I do believe I can go to the DVI website and ask about purchasing one but that will not help me throughout the weekend in trying to figure out what do do now!  Assistance is greatly appreciated!
Yard sale maybe? I have a friend who made $600 in one day

Don't know what it's like wherever you live but in my town yard/garage sales are some people's weekend hobby lol. Get friends to sell stuff too so it is a big one that people will stop at, make the signs big.

Yard sale! If you have anything in your house you can part with

have a yard sale, or post a cheap ad in those little throw away papers like Pennysaver, NOT the regular newspaper as the ads are too expensive.

Remember that things can be replaced.  Good luck!

So I guess they get everything in good sale order right.Well, within a year or so MQ
will have closed their offices save for a few and everyone should be on DEP and they already know ASR is not worthwhile so that would be a good time to sell although it may take more than a year as slow as the accounts are moving to DEP.
Try for a short sale, a good friend of mine - sm
did that a few months ago, had a mortgage and a 2nd mortgage, and just could not keep up. They agreed to a short sale on the 2nd mortgage, and by a miracle she got a buyer. She actually walked away with about $1K. Lives with boyfriend now which is saving his butt from foreclosure now.
not a good deal
You would think that people would be more sympathetic...especially when it is somethning out of your control
That was a good deal....nm
nm
that's a good deal...
there are companies who ask you to pay for the internship, what is IMHO fair because they teach you, correct your mistakes and give you feedback on your mistakes.

I am not so sure what to think about an internship program that pays you??
Sure takes any incentive out of trying to do a good job.
That is what happens when you put people in charge that have no experience other than raising a couple of loud mouthed brats that always make sure they scream when supervisor calls you.
if I was you, I would hunker down and don't look up. You got a good deal going there.
nm
Good Deal. Thanks for the information NM

50 bucks for 4 hours? good deal!

Thanks! Did not see that flyer. It sounds like a good deal. nm

that negates any chance of a good deal
when everything is going to go down - Comp USA going out of business - but I am not a fan of Dell since they offshored support - I have heard people have fits with tech support.
As long as it takes, to quote good old Dr. Phil!

You're both worth it - go for it!!

Help! Is this a good deal? .09 gross lines with a font of ...sm

Times New Roman 11 and 1-inch margins.  It will be op notes, but I have a sample report and there are sure A LOT of characters on those full lines.....

Not a good deal! I get paid 20/hr employee for working with new MTs
x
Good answers and becoming a skilled MT takes surprisingly long, but SM
although 5 years may be about average, there's an old saying about how some people have 20 years' experience and some have one year repeated 20 times. If you want to cut that 5 years down VERY substantially, work full time (a conscientious full time, not just slopping thru the day) and push for new work types and accounts as woon as you've milked the old ones for all you can learn from them. Plus, a reality is that availability of the Web as a resource now helps people function at a much higher level earlier than previously.
Does anyone know where to get a good deal on a Kodak digital with zoom and who has the best prices
on them. I just want a simple to use Kodak easyshare that is reasonably priced with zoom on it.
Agree! I hate Daylight Savings Time. It takes me a good two weeks
to get myself and everybody in the household adjusted to the time change every six months. If the farmers need to get up earlier, let 'em! That doesn't mean I should have to, also! DST has definitely outlived its usefulness. I stay up later and get up earlier in the summer, but go to bed earlier and sleep later in the winter. It's like my mind and body are tied to the sun, not the clock. I never got an extra hour of sleep last night anyways because the neighbor's stupid dog barked from 2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.
I spend a good deal of time tweaking the ones in there so ummm, may give it a shot lol

That is a good offer. Pay is not that good at UIMC. Good luck! nm

Agree with other poster.. good price..good service
I definitely think they are one of the best out there. We also have been talked through issues over the phone and also had a warranty in which they came out and fixed it right at our home. My only complaint..and I am sorry for saying this.. but... when you call their customer service 9 out of 10 times...you get someone who barely speaks English and I just hate that. I think that is true of a lot of customer support centers these days, ironically they are rarely American anymore. I am not prejudice at all. I just find it frustrating to call in for help and the help you get barely understands you and you do not understand them, thus making the experience very frustrating..
Expensive is right -- around $300 per credit hour! But they do have a good rep. Good luck! nm

Good for you. Sounds very interesting and a good chance of pace - sm

but I live in the northeast and not much need for that where I live.  I also live in a small town so that limits my options.  I have spent the last couple of years as a substitute teacher to supplement my MT job and just completed 4-1/2 months as a long term sub which I enjoyed and was a change of pace from MT.  The only problem is as a sub or ed tech you only get paid during the school year so I would have to keep my MT job for summers and school vacations.  With the way things are going in the MT world I hate to rely solely on that.  I don't want to find myself without any job whatsoever.

Thanks for all the responses.

8 is NOT good if never going any higher - good to get the rust out in the short term though

Is the dictation quality good, are the dictators good, are you
a newbie and you still have to look up lots of words ....   The very first day I typed, with absolutely no education way back when, when you didn't have to have a degree/certificate or previous experience, I typed 665 lines.  This was without an expander and I was not a fast typist.   I can do 1000 lines in about 4 hours now on average.
LOL! Well, good! I've done ONE good thing today, then. NM
